As I mentioned yesterday we went to a restaurant that serves gourmet hot dogs. My boyfriend got one that he loved - it had american cheese, cole slaw, and BBQ potato chips on top. It looked really good and pretty disgusting at the same time. I got the cannelini bean and lentil sausage (no meat, just the shape) and it had fennel, goat cheese, some minced sun-dried tomato and a bunch of arugula on top. It was amazing to look at! I really liked the topping, but wasn't so thrilled with the sausage, which had been either baked or fried so the outside was super crunchy. Not really the texture I was looking for.
They also had two kinds of fried on their menu - duck fat fries and truffle fries. We decided to try the truffle fries. BIG mistake! They were thick cut fries that I think were fried in truffle (plus some other) oil. They served a little cup of some sauce I could not figure out to dip them in. They tasted OK, but that flavor just stayed with me all night long!
My tummy was not a big fan of the meal, I had indigestion all night long. Fortunately I was still able to enjoy the play, which was highly entertaining. I would probably go back to the same place for dinner again but I would definitely try something different and PASS on the truffle fries!
Looking forward to a big to-do list tomorrow and spending Easter Sunday with my boyfriend's parents! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
