out of control earlier but trying not to ruin the day

someone brought bagels in to work today. I knew this was going to happen yesterday so I decided that I would skip my normal breakfast and have half a bagel with just a little bit of reduced fat cream cheese. All went according to plan, and i was at about 225 calories to start the day. Not bad, until I walked past the room with the bagels again, and went and took another half of a half. So there was another 75 calories.

Got through the rest of the morning and had my salad and half ezekiel wrap with almond butter for lunch along with an apple and a clementine. A couple hours after lunch I had a banana for a snack. After that I walked past the space where they had put the leftover bagels, and for some inexplicable reason grabbed another half! I had finished it before I even knew what happened. After that I walked past a box of chocolates that someone was sharing and ate two of those.

So by the time I left work I had consumed almost 1100 calories, leaving me precious few left for dinner. I came home and turned on the Wii, and found a 30 minute aerobics workout. It was a tad on the boring side but it kept me busy for half an hour and I burned 175 calories! I was starting to feel like the day was not totally shot! For dinner I water sauteed half a bag of Dole spinach and made a little omelette with a small piece of ham for protein, and one whole egg plus another egg white. And I put just a teeny bit of sharp cheddar on there for a little kick.

I'm watching a movie now and enjoying some sparkling water. I ended the day at 1356 calories (my goal range is 1250-1600), and 55 grams of protein, which is exactly the low end of my goal. Even kept the total carbs to 200.

I am happy that I am in the habit of tracking my food throughout the day. In the past I would have just given the whole day up as a lost cause and eaten a pizza or big Mexican dinner when it still had potential to be a good day. I'm also proud of myself for making the right decisions for at least part of the day!

    Tracking can make a big difference. You stayed well within your calorie range, ate a healthy dinner and burned off calories.

getting back in the exercise habit

Today was the third day in a row that I came home, put on my sweats, and fired up the Wii. I was having issues the last two days with the EA Sports Active 2 armband registering - even after I replaced the batteries it still wasn't working too well. So today I put in EASA More Workouts and really enjoyed it. I had forgotten the fun activities it has and there isn't the lag time between exercises like in EASA2. So you get more done in less time!

I leave on vacation two weeks from Saturday so I've set a goal of burning 1200 calories before I leave. I think that I should be able to reach that and be able to take a couple rest days if I need to.

It feels good to be back in the habit of moving when I get home!

relaxing morning

after working this past weekend I am going in to work a couple hours later than usual today. Got to stay up and watch my game which went past midnight and we won - woo-hoooo! Finally got out of bed a little before eight. Did some crunches and pushups. Made a yummy little breakfast sandwich with a multigrain roll (cut off the rough top and bottom and split the rest in half), a small piece of ham (vegetarian fed, nitrate-free) and an egg. Yummy! Only 213 calories and 21 grams of protein already. I need to work more on hitting that protein number at least four or five times a week. I don't like a lot of meat so it's tough. (The ham was leftover from the holiday.)

Well, off to get ready for work. I replaced the battery in my EASA armband so I'm good to go when I get home tonight.

lots of "opportunities' today!

1. Pizza lunch at work today - had two small pieces - one veggie, one cheese, plus my big spring mix salad with beans.
2. Hormones are making my cravings go crazy today. I "saved" all my fruit to eat throughout the day when I had to give in, but had a harder time at home. I had a light dinner so I could have a beer and a snack while I watched the football game tonight. Unfortunately I had about five hershey's kisses and some cheese that I had not planned on so I am enjoying the game with a can of sparkling lemon water. No biggie.
3. Got my Wii all fired up to do my EASA2 and the armband needed batteries replaced. I went ahead and did all the exercises even though the system did not register all the moves... what matters is that I did it!

So all in all I kept my calories and fat under my limit and did 25 minutes of exercising! Hoping that tomorrow will be easier!

    Things happen, as long as you keep them in mind and not ignore them you should be okay. You made some good choices when you could have just piled it in! I say good job! You've been doing awesome on your journey and there is always room to do a little better tomorrow!

resolutions for 2012

Been thinking about what my resolutions should be for this year and have decided on a couple. First, to work on reducing my intake of processed foods. Last year I did a great job of incorporating a lot of fresh foods into my diet, but I still have quite a stockpile of canned soups and other things in my pantry that I can work on eliminating and not replacing!

Second, to work on incorporating exercise into my daily schedule on a more consistent basis. I go through phases where I'm really good, then take a couple weeks off, then get back on it again. I need to just stick with it!

    I love your resolution goals and plan to make those my main focus this year as well. I need to make more time for batch cooking and recipe planning so we eat less processed foods in our household. emoticon
