Day four ....food journal

I am all over the place with my new eating Plan, I won't be surprised if I haven't lost by wednesday. I ate so many strawberries because I went and picked them with my boys. My husband as been laid up with an injury for a week now and tonight I had a bit of a break down, I just feel like I can't do this all. And now it looks like he might need surgery, I am seriously a BAD caregiver. I feel really behind in all the things I need to get done.

Food journal

2 eggs, 2 pc. Canadian bacon

One ounce chicken, a LOT of strawberries

All veggie lasagna, meat and noodle free/ 3 ounce chicken

One cup oat bran cereal with Devonshire cream and strawberries


TONS of water. I ate way too much fruit and hope I don't pay the price on the scale Wednesday. My energy was not so great, felt super foggy and zapped all day, but it's also warm here and I don't do well with too much heat.

    Stress will keep the weight on. Hope all is well with hubby. Glad you had some oat bran it will help you with the carb craving. Strawberries are sooo good now. Full of the fiber you need. Remember to take your vitamins.

    Strawberries! That's it! Be thankful you didn't dive into a dish of hamburgers. My point is though you may have over eaten strawberries, there are other bad things that you could have eaten instead and you didn't so that's something to be proud about!

As for your husband, do what you can do for him. Taking care of your kids/husband and yourself can be a menacing chore, but you just need to do what you can and from time to time take a breather!

Keep it up and I am sure you will see results! emoticon emoticon

Food journal day three

Well, I can already tell that a strict low carb diet will never work for me, but a low carb diet is doable if I have a little wriggle room. This also means I can't really eat the high fat foods that other diets (atkins) allow. I'm curious to know what my weigh in says on Wednesday. Celebrated a bit tonight for my moms bday. I also ate banana, that was not in my plan.

Food journal

3 pc. Canadian bacon/ 2 eggs/ coffee

String cheese/banana

Veggie lasagna (no noodles, no sauce)/ small hot dog

Grilled pork/4 bites fish patty/2 bites rice
Coffee with condensed milk

Cup of strawberries with whipped cream, small pc. Angel food cake



All in all nit as good as i hoped but I wasn't hungry. Felt tired the first half of the day and still haven't caught up on sleep but overall, felt good. Did feel bloated after the dessert.

    This is kind of an experiment, isn't it? I'll be interested to see what your scale says too. Track your energy level as well, I think it is hard to exercise without a certain amount of carbs. I don't think I would ever feel bad about going nuts on fruit. That can only be a positive thing, in my opinion--- but this is an experiment and you don't have to hear all my thoughts. I totally agree with you on the sugar and white flour, everyone could do just fine without those--- low-carb or not. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    No carb is hard to follow but low carb is good. Be sure to add some fiber. The new Dukan Diet is like Dr. Akins but it is low fat and add oat bran. Look at that one too. Remember with TOPS we can have all types of food in moderation. Find your moderation that your body wants.

New low carb diet, day t

This goes against everything I have ever thought was true but I am going to do the low carb diet, I started yesterday. I will not be as strict as Atkins but I do plan on staying away from all white/refined carbs and not overdosing on fruit like I like to do. I feel weird eating lots of cheese, heavy meats so I imagine I won't go crazy on those either. I'll just take it one day at a time. Gary Taubes makes a great case against just eating low calorie. He argues it's the TYPE of calorie and it does makes sense to me. I also think you can't go wrong cutting out empty carbs no matter what plan you are on.

Day two: did not feel very hungry today, which is a first. Was sad I had to turn down my fave donuts when we had a family "treat" day, which is rare. I did miss my carbs but ate very well. Feels weird not to be overly concerned with fat and calories, it feels wrong.

Food journal

2 egg veggie scramble/ 2 piece very lean bacon/ 2 cups coffee

Nonfat Greek yogurt/pistachios, sunflower seeds, one mango

6 vegetable lasagna (meat, noodle free) with mozzarella

One cup strawberries with Devonshire cream/ one fourth cup semi sweet choc. Chips

WATER WATER WATER all day

I feel great. Totally and utterly exhausted form taking care of kids, injured husband and crazy work hours. Need more rest badly. Only had one walk today. Cried a lot, I am anxious to not feel so depleted. Can't wait for my husband to recover, it's exhausting doing it all, plus some!

New food plan!......food journal

Reading "good calorie, bad calorie", very interesting. I am going to try a low carb diet (not non carb) for one week. Not exactly Atkins, I don't want super high fat foods or anything processed. I will focus on lean meat, veggies, nuts, seeds, olive oil and some fruit. I won't be following this to the rule but loosely. I will document my hunger/energy levels/satisfaction and any lost weight by the end of the week. I love to read anything related to health/diet but all the info seems to contradict each other and leaves me very confused. I can see though that cutting out bad carbs/sugar and increasing natural healthy fats can only be positive though.

Food journal

Two eggs/ 1 tsp. Olive oil/ 2 cups coffee

Bowl homemade tomato soup w) basil and blue cheese

Cup low fat cottage cheese/banana

3 piece extra lean bacon/one egg with zucchini, mushrooms
One cup blueberries

Half cup chocolate chip (semi sweet)


Like i said, not to the rule (hence the banana and semi sweet chips) but I feel good about my choices. Need to increase veggies (what's new?) and keep it at no more the two fruits (I did that)

  Look up the Paleo Diet, everydaypaleo.com is a great sight. Same idea low carb but she helps you find a more balanced way to plan your food which makes this change much easier.

Kind of disappointed in my day. I chose not to sleep in though it killed me, I got a nice work out in and it was diffcultbut felt great afterwards.

Large bowl oat bran hot cereal w)chia seeds, cut up whole peach, I tblsp brown sugar

Half banana, 3 WASA crackers with 2 laughing cow cheese wedges, one third cup LIGHT tuna with veggies

Large chocolate chip cookie, 3 chicken satays with peanut sauce

Small Skinnidip mango peach frozen yogurt with fresh mango

Bowl of Puffins with skim milk/ half cup trail mix (seeds, nuts, dried fruit, dark chocolate)


Not so great.
