It's been a lazy, relaxing week!

Friday, October 11, 2013

I usually do a workout DVD on tuesdays & thursdays and sometimes also during the weekends but I didn't this week bcoz the DVD player is out of whack and my Mom took me to the mall on both tuesday and thursday this week. And also, I felt so tired from waking up early and from all that mall walking that I took a nap on both days too after I got back from the mall.

On tuesday I bought a pack of oreos and a jumbo sausage for a treat. On thursday I bought some professional bobby pins & hair elastics in black bcoz that is my natural hair color. They do cost a bit more than standard ones but not overly so. Kate from thesmallthingsblog.com says that professional bobby pins have a better grip than standard ones, so I decided to look for some. I found some in a shop that sells salon products in the mall on thursday. I also decided to try some professional hair elastics too. The elastics are better than standard ones but still, they don't last forever like I expected them too.

They were having a sale too and I regretted buying the hair serum from my hairdresser a few weeks back because the shop in the mall was selling it for RM56! (25% off). I bought it for RM75, which is the normal price. So, I lost about RM19! That's almost RM20! But a bottle lasts forever, so I decided not to get another bottle & also, I didn't have enough cash on me anyway; so I consider it as a kind of donation to my hairdresser. I might check back next month in case they are having a Christmas sale & buy it then.

I will have to do my online pilates & go for walks outside if my DVD player is still out. I might even have to force myself to wake up early to get morning walks in coz it might rain in the evenings. Waking up early in the mornings to exercise is hard bcoz I'm just NOT a morning person but I will have to, just to make sure that I exercise regularly. I guess I will just have to grit my teeth and just do it! Sigh!

Well, I know that hairdressers make the most of their income off of sales of products, so she probably enjoyed a good meal off of her profit from the serum you bought. In the end it's a good thing.

My bedroom DVD player is a no bells no whistles Sony that cost 23.00USD. It is now 6 yrs old. I use it almost every night.

You'll get out soon. You like to take walks so you'll get back in the swing soon, I'm sure. Besides, you're so positive about yourself, and usually motivated. YAY!

Pipe burst!

Saturday, September 21, 2013

I was planning on doing a workout DVD after my seminar in church today. But on my way home, I saw a huge water fountain, but the water fountain was because of a burst pipe! I reported it to the water board but they told me someone already reported it earlier, and that they were in the process of cutting off the water supply.

Since the burst pipe was so near my house, I figured that I had a little bit of time before the water supply got cut off. So, I showered as soon as I reached home. Because I was worried that if I did a workout DVD and got all sweaty, then the water cuts off, I'll be in dire straits!

Sheesh!

Iceberg Lettuce!

Saturday, September 14, 2013

I actually asked my Mom to buy some Romaine lettuce while she was out at the convenience store but she bought Iceberg lettuce instead! I prefer the taste and nutrition of Romaine lettuce but I must say, I love the texture and crunch of Iceberg lettuce.

But it's so difficult to get the leaves off in one piece, especially the inner leaves. Not an issue with Romaine! I ended up with roughly torn pieces of Iceberg lettuce leaves! I decided to squirt some Ceaser Salad dressing on them, walla! A simple Ceaser salad, but I didn't have any croutons but was too lazy too make some myself. So, I just ate the lettuce with the dressing as it is.

I really don't know what's wrong with me these days, I am just soooo lazy to exercise. I made myself do some Pilates today for like 30 minutes, then I went for a short walk that ended up being 40 minutes. But I wasn't walking briskly at all, I was just strolling along, enjoying the fresh air. I can't jog, I'm having aching bones and joints, ah, the 'joys' of osteoporosis. I'm a little young to get this problem but I'm having this problem as a side-effect of being a dialysis patient, along with a constant itch all over........long story!

Anyways, I really need to make myself work out a sweat with a workout DVD! That's the only way I can make myself sweat! Other than jog, which is a bit hard for me these days....sigh! Hopefully, I can get moving next Tuesday and Thursday!

I have bone pain issues also, so I know how hard exercise can be.
I think a 40 minute walk is great! Even if you didn't walk fast, that is definitely not being lazy! I know a lot of healthy people that complain if they have to walk a little ways because they can't get the closest parking space at the store.

    Hi Elaine, emoticon

I prefer Romaine to Iceberg! The way to get the leaves off the Iceberg Lettuce is to slam the head of the lettuce down hard. This loosen the leaves and it is easy to peel it off one by one. Hope this helps.

I thought you are doing pretty good with your exercises.

Take care & have a great day! emoticon

iceberg is good sometimes, I especially like it on sandwiches. As for exercise, sweating doesn't always mean good exercise. You need to get your heart rate up not sweat. Try some of Coach Nicole's chair exercises.

I enjoy the Iceburg as well and just mixed then together for a nice colorful salad. If I am struggling, it means I am not giving up. If I'm struggling, then I'm still trying. And if I keep trying, then I will succeed. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Unexpected Treat!

Thursday, September 12, 2013

My Mom is still away on her trip to Cameron Highlands. The mountain where most of Malaysia's fruits and veggies are grown. I hope she brings back some strawberries!

Well, I didn't expect it but my Dad brought home some KFC for dinner on his way home from work today. I was thinking of doing a workout DVD today but I can't now since I make it a rule not to exercise on full stomach!

Though I missed my workout today, I'm still thankful that I get to enjoy fried chicken from KFC. Also I really love their mashed potato and their coleslaw. When I was a kid, I loved their rolls, I would always get my parents to buy some more rolls. I've outgrown that but I still love everything about their snack plates!

Oh well, I'll go for a walk instead, since I have a full stomach! Jumping around or dancing around on a full stomach may be a no-no in my book, but not a nice walk! I'll have to make sure to do a workout DVD or 2 this weekend! Ever noticed that sometimes your plans don't make it?! Happens to me all the time! Well, I'll make sure I do some crochet today but first and foremost, I need to read some of my Study Bible! I promised the Lord that and He must come first!

    Hi Elaine, emoticon

I love KFC fried chicken and I miss the one in Malaysia as one of the sides is rice.

Good plans and you have your priority straight!

Well, I do try but I do so love junk food, I just try not to eat them too often. But I think I'll die if I don't eat them at all! And my Mom is away, plus, it was a surprise from my Dad, so I just couldn't turn it down!

A short walk & A McRib!!!

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

I decided to walk to the mini mall today at about 3pm. I reached it around 30 minutes later. I ordered a McRib at McDonalds (right beside the mini mall) because I was hungry and bcoz the McRib is a new burger, just introduced a few weeks ago. Honestly, I can hardly keep with with McD's!!! They keep introducing new burgers. There are still a couple I haven't tried : like the Samurai Burger! I decided to just get the burger minus the fries and soda, I initially really wanted the coke float but I decided not to mainly bcoz of the fluid content, as I have to watch my fluid intake bcoz I'm on dialysis. And as you know, the fries maybe delicious but the burger is already bad enough, so I just got the burger!

I also bought 2 new mags, Shape Malaysian edition and Rapi (Neat in Malay, it's a Malay health mag). I'm now having fun reading my new mags. I walked to the mini mall for the exercise but I was like lazy to walk back bcoz of the distance so I got a lift from my Dad who passes that way on the way home from work. I feel so good after the shower! My head has been itching bcoz the last time I washed my hair was 2 days ago! I'll have to make sure I wash my hair every other day now!

Bye, I'll read my mags now!

Well, I loved the chicken patty. It has the 'McDonald's taste'. It was tender and succulent. But I'm not so crazy about the sauce though. It was kinda sweet to my taste. And I thought that there was not enough pickles and onions, but if I were to ask for extra, they would charge me another RM1, I've tried it b4 with the double cheeseburger (my fave).

Overall, I wouldn't mind ordering it again but it's still not my No. 1, my fave No. 1 is still the Big and Tasty! I love the veggies in it, and though it's fatty, I also love the special sauce! I feel it really goes well with the beef patty!

What did you think of the McRib? I remember when they brought it back here recently (it's a seasonal thing...), everyone hyped it up, and I couldn't wait to try it. I was sorely disappointed! But the recipe they use is probably different in other countries to cater to the tastes of the customer base, right?

I stay away from McDonald's, too much fat and weird ingredients in their food. Did you know there are 17 ingredients in the fries? Not just potatoes and oil but all kinds of additives.
