My insomnia will be the death of me!

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I keep waking up like 5 times a night, nearly after an hour and a half or so. The last time I wake will be around 5am, then I will sleep like a log till 11am or so. This morning, I was supposed to go to church at 10:45am but was supposed to wake up at 9am because I wanted to catch a ride; as both my parents will be gone for the day (wedding dinner and seminar) BUT I just couldn't wake up. My bed felt so comfy and I just couldn't for the life of me open my eyes. I was so dead tired. So, I didn't make to church today. And it was communion Sunday too!

But one question I have is, why can't the church has afternoon or evening services. It would make life so much simpler!

My insomnia is usually caused by meds...especially when I am on prednisone. Keep track of your sleeping patterns along with your food/drink journal. It may help you find a trigger you are not aware of. I would also talk to your doctor about the problem if it has been going on for more than a week so you can be checked for underlying medical problems. Hope you can get some sleep.

try not to drink so much after 6pm... probably helps you not to want to wake up to go to the bathroom.

hope you can get some good night sleep. take care & have a fabulous day! emoticon

As a leader of one of the sleep teams, I definitely second the suggestion that you should have a sleep study done! Sleep problems at any age can cause some other serious health difficulties, weight gain being one of them. Check to see how much your health insurance will pay, etc. The importance of enough good sleep to good health is increasingly recognized as vital, so try not to put this off!

I sympathize with you on your sleep pattern! I usually sleep till 11am too every day if I can and don't have any early committments. I take a sleep aid Minipress and it helps me sleep some I still wake up to go to the bathroom about 3 times a night. You might ask about taking something to help stop going to the bathroom so much I started Toviaz. There is 3-4 different kind they can use. A night time service would be good then I could go too. Good luck with your schedule. Lucinda

This is a problem that affects many (more women) ........... But you are young, and it worsens post menopause! ... I have been taking 1/2 Advil PM .......... and it will generally konk one ............. You could try ............. and like the person before me, what is disturbing your sleep? ............ Any stimulants before bed? .......... emoticon ( I try to stop drinking the water long before bed, just to take the pill!) ............... And if your church is large enough, perhaps they could either have a Sat. night service (what we used tyo do) ....... or one following a bit later ........... (I would ask them) AND THANKS for adding me as friend, added you as well ........ happily) ......... emoticon

all that water drinking makes you have to go to the bathroom and meds keep your throat dry. It's a never ending battle, you can't sleep when you want to and you can't wake up when you need to. Evening service would definately help.

mostly because I need to go to the bathroom and my throat feels dry, so I need to suck an ice cube.

So find out WHY you wake so often? Is it an external noise? Or a pet...Dog or Cat? Od do you have to go to the bathroom? Or are you cold, or too warm? You should have your Dr. send you for a Sleep Study to find out the reason.

Good Luck, hope your sleep emoticon improves!

Nice dinner outing with my Bible Study class!

Saturday, November 24, 2012

We went to a different hawker center today, further away from our usual haunts. I ordered char kuey kak (fried turnip cakes) for myself and fruit rojak (chopped Malaysian fruits with prawn paste dressing and crushed peanuts) to share with the group. The fried turnip cakes cost me RM4.50 while the rojak was RM6. Not too bad but not really very cheap either. But then the cost of everything has gone up these days.

The Bible Study leader order a half dozen bbq chicken wings for RM12. You definitely won't get that sort of price for chicken wings if you ate in a restaurant! That's why most Malaysians choose to eat more often in hawker centers! He also ordered some chicken satay but I didn't have any because I can't have too much meat, it's high in phosphate (I'm on dialysis). He also paid for my drink which was iced lime juice.

I'm really full now (as I type), it was a very satisfying dinner, and I only spent like RM10.50!

Your blogs are very interesting and educational
Being in the US, I regularly have to look up
words and phrases that you use.
Today it was HAWKER CENTER -

When we had to go to KL and stayed in the hotel we always went to the hawker stands to eat. Do miss the food there.

A hawker center is a kind of cafe with many stalls, each stall selling a different kind of food. In a fruit rojak you normally have young papaya, young mango, jicama, cucumber, pineapple and fried prawn crackers; all tossed in a prawn paste dressing. What is prawn paste? Well, it's black and thick, I don't really know how they make it but it's yummy to most Malaysians. I guess it would be an acquired taste. Then they sprinkle chopped peanuts all over it.

Our Bible Study is based on the Book of Acts. We're on the Lesson 2 now. I'll be coloring my hair soon too (first week of December, in time for Christmas!), a reddish brown burgundy color. So far, I've been invited to 2 Christmas parties!

What is a hawker center? The fruit rojak sounds good, what kind of fruits do they have in Malaysa & what is prawn paste? What was your Bible study based on? It is very cold here in Pennsylvania we are to get snow showers. In twenty minutes I am on my way to get my hair a different color I think I will go with a light brown with highlights, this will be the first time this knew hairdresser will be doing my color. Then i shall come home & decorate the inside of our home for Christmas. I do a lot it takes 2 days to get it all done, then we will do the outside next Mon & Tues. When it is all done los like a winter wonderland. Do you decorate for Christmas? well time to go get my hair done. Take care

I've been soooo bad today but I am jumping back on the bandwagon!

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Today, I went to the mall! I've been going there a lot lately. And I can't afford to do that anymore, or I'll start encroaching on my savings! I decided to go to Pizza Hut for lunch today. Of all the places I checked out today, they have the most value for money deal.

I had a soft drink (Revive), cream of chicken soup, a huge Focassia sandwich served with fries and 2 bbq chicken wings (my fave! I couldn't turn that down), all for RM17.50! That's a lot of food for a reasonable price. But understandably, I can't eat like this everyday or I'll get fat and be broke!

I've been joining my Bible Study friends for dinner every Saturday too, that's something I should set aside money for too! Sigh! And here I was thinking that I can save money before Christmas! I need to save money for my hair treatments too! I think I need to stop going to the mall!

By your avatar, your hair is really pretty! I like it, anyway. You can save money.. just put it in a place where you won't think about it. then when you need it, you have it. I hope that makes sense!

You can't be tempted if you go elsewhere, however, if wandering around inside is something you need to do, then the mall is a good bet, as long as you bring a lunch!

A new addiction, but I think I can handle it!

Monday, November 19, 2012

There's this new bakery in the mall near my home. They have the most delicious pastries! Their croissants are super flaky and buttery! Anyone with a sweet tooth will be in dire straits in my position. As it is, I can't help popping in whenever I'm there to buy my favourite pastries. My Mom is no help either, she just loves the pastries there!

The name of the bakery is Lavender. Their products are a little overpriced but oh! so delicious! And they have the freshest, crustiest breads! Okay, enough rambling, I'm getting hungry..........

Sweet Potato leaves stir-fried in sambal paste!

Sunday, November 18, 2012

This was part of my dinner today. And I must say that it's very healthy providing the sambal is not to oily! I also had some masala chicken curry which was from a packet. I love that we can get instant whatever in a packet very easily in Malaysia. I'd probably literally die if I can't get my Malaysian food. That's why I can't live anywhere else for too long!

I should have taken the pics before dinner, but there's still some left! ;)
