Ai Caramba! More then 900kCal on Breakfast alone! Only at McDonald's!

Sunday, November 11, 2012

I was almost afraid to track my breakfast but I forced myself to anyway! And it came up to more than 900kCal! I only had a chicken muffin with cheese (gotta have my cheese!), 2 hash browns (because my Mom didn't want her's) and an Iced mocha with whipped cream.

I nearly fainted when I found out how many calories I ingested. I ate light for the rest of the day and stayed within my calorie range. But OMG! I can't eat at McD's too often, I guess!

I usually stick with Egg McMuffin 300 calories on breakfast menu. If I happen to have lunch or dinner, I would get Honey Mustard Snack Wrap with Grilled Chicken 250 calories and and a side salad 20 calories. Sometimes, I add my own hard boiled egg in the salad.

I do the same if I think I ate too much after tracking my breakfast or lunch, I would cut down on my dinner. That way, I do not go over for the day. Way to go tracking yours too!

Did you check the sodium? That's what gets me, wherever I go out to eat. What about the oatmeal with fruit and nuts for breakfast? I think that's pretty reasonable.

Congrats for tracking and realizing.

Oh--all the fast foods now post the nutrition counts online. And our Mcdonalds has a nutritional placemat if you ask. Probably the most nutritious thing in the place. At least it would have fiber.

I was shocked to see the calories in most of their menu. Oddly enough a Big Mac only has like 400 calories and I can barely eat one of those. As for breakfast, if I end up there I have the same thing every time and it more than fills me but it still keeps me eating extremely light the rest of the day. I have a sausage biscuit with egg and orange juice. Those hashbrowns are soaked with salt and grease and the mochas with their chocolate drizzle and cream are calorie giants.

I gave up on sandwiches at fast food chains awhile ago.

If I go to a mcdonalds for breakfast, it's usually a breakfast burrito (300 cal) and a hashbrown (150 cal).

From a calorie perspective, McDonalds is one of the most expensive restaurants. Not a lot of good options.

My boyfriend and I used to have a tradition of getting a McDonald's Big Breakfast with Hotcakes every weekend (and orange juice), but that was easily 1100-1400 calories... so uh.... now I stick to a Egg McMuffin + hash brown for around 450 calories.

those mochas are the killers, they do not even sound good here in the states everyone seems to get them,I had a big breakfast at my favorite place yesterday. I had coffee, 1 slice of ham, potatoes with peppers & onions, 2 eggs over medium, 2 slices of sour dough bread with no butter. it tasted so good I have that about once a month so not that bad ,it was probably loaded with calories & fat.
Take care

The menu in McD's in Malaysia is not as extensive as in the US. We don't have salads or parfaits. In fact, only 2 kinds of wraps were introduced recently and only in certain branches.

Holy smokes! That is alot for breakfast.
We only go when we preplan as well. And to be honest, McD's wouldn't be my first choice.
It amazes me, after eating so much of my own cooking, the amount of sodium in the food at fast food restaurants. You need that huge drink because you're so dry from all the salt!
Glad you got back on track!

I am rather interested where you ate: where do they serve a chicken Mcmuffin? I have never heard of that.
When I eat there, I get a side salad, parfait, and unsweetened iced tea(they brew it fresh there!!)

Ya, the Mickey D's breakfast can get high in calories. Sometimes though, i crave and stop for an egg biscuit. I try to say no cheese, but dang it.. the cheese always wnis.. You can still keep on track today. Go for a 30 minute power walk to raise your energy/metabolism =) You can do it!

Yummy healthy dinner!

Saturday, November 10, 2012

I went for Bible study this evening. After that, 4 of us adjourned to Subway for dinner. They had a special discount set of one 6-inch sub, one cookie and one drink. Now, I thought that was a good deal only we had only 2 choices : teriyaki chicken and chicken slice. I lucked out when I chose the chicken slice because normally, they only give you 2 slices, but the guy gave me 5! :) And then there was lot's of veggies. Yummy!

I chose the oatmeal raisin cookie and it was so chewy and yummy! It was enormous though, so though I badly wanted to, I decided not to walk up to the counter and buy another! Honestly! Big as they are, I could have finished 5 cookies if they would let me! But there! I'm being greedy! Really, those subway cookies are yummy!

I filled the cup with crushed ice so that whatever soda in the cup would be greatly diluted. Now about the soda, here's the story : my church uses a brand of grape soda for communion. I call it "communion juice" and I love it, only we get a teeny weeny cup during communion. And what do I see in my range of choices (the drinks are sell-service), that SAME brand of grape soda, so I had my fill of communion juice today! lol!

I did not know they use grape soda for communion and you get it in a teeny weeny cup for every person. Here, we drink from the same common cup and wine is used.

Take care & have a fabulous day!

All set for tomorrow's tea!

Tuesday, November 06, 2012

I always get hungry around 3pm during my dialysis sessions. Well, I'm due for another session tomorrow and I'm all set! I just went to the mall and bought some nice rye bread from the bakery, along with some turkey pastrami and romaine lettuce.

I plan to bring one toothsome sandwich to eat during my teatime.

The best tasting food needn't be the most expensive!

Thursday, November 01, 2012

I have a very nice lunch today. I went to my favourite Japanese restaurant and had sweet potato tempura and salmon shashimi rice with hot green tea. But it cost me more than RM20!

I went walking in the mall after that and came across a noodle stall. The lady sold a variety of delicious looking noodles, all for RM5 a bowl! One fourth of what I paid for my Japanese meal.

The next time I'm looking for lunch, I'll settle for a bowl of tasty noodles for a lower price!

Can't wait for the joint pain to go away!

Sunday, October 28, 2012

I turned 40 recently but I feel 80 with my constant joint pain. I honestly walk like an old lady. Getting up from a squat or from a chair or even the floor takes soooo much effort, my Mom keeps saying it's because of how 'fat' I am; but at 125lbs, I don't think I'm fat! It's the joint pain!

In a way, I can't wait for the surgery to be over so I can start exercising like a normal person again! For those who don't know, I'm a dialysis patient, have been for 8 years. My phosphate and calcium levels are out of control now and my bones are getting brittle. That's why my Doctor recommends I remove my PT (parathoroid) glands as soon as I can.

So, I'm now making preparations (long story). Why does everything in my life have to be so complicated!?

125 pounds is not fat! I frequently have hip issues due to bursitis and it's not pleasant. Sitting for too long means I'm stiff as a board when I stand up. I hope your surgery goes well and provides the relief you need.
