Latest Update on Joint pain problem

Saturday, October 27, 2012

Well, it's confirmed, I need the surgery. Saw the doctor yesterday and the next time I go to fill my regular prescription, I also have to get a kinda powder to be administered by the nurses intravenously. And then I need a blood test before and after the powder is administered. The blood samples have to be sent to Australia for testing for some reason. Why they can't test in Malaysia is beyond me! The tests are to determine if there is excess aluminium in my blood.

After that, if all goes well, I will have the surgery to remove my PT glands from my neck. If I have excess aluminium in my blood, I will have to be treated for it, and then have the surgery. Either way, I will have to have surgery to remove or retransplant the PT glands from my neck elsewhere.

I'm quite scared of the pain I will experience when I wake up from the surgery. I'm afraid of the surgery itself. I just sooooo scared! Please pray for me! I just want all this to be over so I won't itch all over anymore and have no more joint pain! I just want to exercise to the point of sweating like I did before!

PT is parathyroid (not sure how it's spelled). All I know is my phosphate and calcium levels are out of control atm. the calcium is leeched out from my bones thus my bones are now brittle. The doctor says, I need the surgery asap to prevent fractures. As for for the blood chemistry, I can't really explain it, as I don't really understand it myself.

i had a parathryoid gland removed in August. the entire surgery took less than 30 minutes. My incision was closed with glue and I was up and out of the center within 30 minutes after waiting up I even had steak for lunch two hours later with no pain of the food going down.

you will be get a very mild pain pills but the mot important thing is 1200 units of calcium twice a day for 2 weeks to help your body

there are lots of videos online of how quick this surgery is+

the only times I have heard of re transplanting the PT glands is when the thryoid has cancer and they relocate the PT glands to another part of the body so that the chemo /radiation does not damange them

Please relax this is really the easiest of procedures to do.

I'm sorry you have to go through all this, I hope the surgery won't be too bad. My sister in law had her thyroid removed and didn't suffer from the surgery.

No sweating for a long time!

Sunday, October 21, 2012

I used to be quite regular with getting good sweaty workouts with my workout DVDs but nowadays I've been doing a lot of walking with much less sweating. Why? Because of my joint pains. I'm aching all over these days. And I even find it hard to get up when I'm seated on a stool! Honestly, I feel older than my 40 years!

I'm hoping that the surgery will clear things up. Or even medication but I won't know till 2 weeks later, when the doctor reviews my latest blood test results. Actually I should know next week, but I'll be on holiday so I'll only know the following week.

Being on dialysis sucks on so many levels but it keeps me alive! So, I'm thankful that I have my 4 limbs and all my 5 senses! But if this joint pain issue is resolved, I'll have to have my sweaty workouts again! No excuses then!

I , too, think walking is good and you do not have to sweat when you exercise. Regarding the joint pains, try drinking lots of water or at least eight glasses a day. It does help.

I will pray that everything goes well for you, be it surgery or medication. I am thankful to have a friend like you!

Take care & have a fabulous day! emoticon

I'm a big fan of walking, so I'll just post and say "way to go!" You don't have to get totally sweaty to still be doing something good for your body :)

I hope all the medical stuff helps, though!

Munchies!

Monday, October 15, 2012

I've been having light snacks just before bed. According to the nutrition tracker, I'm not eating enough during the day. I can't help feeling guilty though............

You do not have to feel guilty. Just listen to your body. Once your body go into starvation mode is when you cannot lose weight.

Take care & have a good one! emoticon

Not eating enough can be a very bad thing. You should NEVER feel guilty about eating enough.

Nice cool weather for a change!

Saturday, October 13, 2012

It was rainy most of today. I had several nice naps with just the fan and the windows open. I didn't even need to turn on the air-conditioner. I'm looking forward to a nice long sleep tonight. I hope I wake up in time for church though!

Another sleepless night!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

I couldn't sleep last night either, even though I was really tired. Why? I suspect it's that one piece of Durian I had. That's it, no more Durian at night! I was up at 6.30am for my walk with my Mom in the big park. It was a good walk, we walked briskly for 50 minutes. I didn't even sweat though, because it was nice and cool.

I hope I'll be able to sleep tonight. I couldn't stand it this morning though, I had a short nap and now I feel better. But if this sleeplessness continues, I'll have to tell my doctor!

What is Durian? I do not like it when I cannot sleep & I feel this is another night. I had a hand full of nuts in my salad & when I eat them late for some reason I cannot sleep. I also have a knew roll out system at work with the computers tomorrow, I will be tired should have planned my dinner better.
Take Care
Judy

Is it really the durian? Maybe it is something else. Talking to the doc is not a bad idea. Glad to hear you get to walk with your mom. Hope you get some sleep tonight. Take care & have a fabulous day!
