Discovered a new game on Facebook!

Saturday, September 29, 2012

Honestly, you can waste hours playing games on facebook. I don't pay for extra credits though. Seems like a waste of money! The game is called candy something. It's fun!

Hot day!

Tuesday, September 25, 2012

It's soooooo freakin hot today! I wish I was in a place where there is Fall! The cooler temps will be most welcome! Heck! Even Winter would be better than this heat! I have to air-conditioner on but it's still boiling in here! A wee bit better but still boiling!

It's was warm today, but not so hot (77*). I'm in southern California, so we don't really get seasons here either. And I'm not a fan of cold weather. Today kept seeing people online talking about sweaters and scarves and hats and I was silently laughing at their cold weather plight in my head. lol Where do you live that there are no seasons?

A treat that resulted in a 40 minute walk.

Thursday, September 20, 2012

Today, I walked 20 minutes from my home to the cafe. I had 2 vadais (a kind of savory Indian doughnut) and 4 pieces of fish crackers. I washed it down with and iced milo. I actually wanted iced tea but if I had tea, I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight, so I had to settle for milo.

By the time I finished my snack, it was raining cats and dogs, so I walked next door to the vet's. I spent like 45 minutes stroking the cats there. He's got like 10 cats running around his clinic. I had a good time lavishing attention on some fat cats! lol!

When the rain let up, I walked 20 minutes back to my home. I hope I'm not too heavy for my dialysis treatment tomorrow. I guess I'm in for a scolding (because of the iced milo)...........

I may need surgery soon!

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

I may need surgery soon to remove my parathoroid glands from my neck. I'm not sure of the chemistry of it all but my phosphate levels are spiraling out of control and the quickest way to bring balance to my body is through this surgery.

If I don't have this surgery, I will itch all over all the time and have joint pain. The joint pain is soooo bad that I have trouble getting in and out of the car and getting up to stand from sitting position.

Yeah, I know, the joys of being on dialysis. This is a common problem among dialysis patients. I know 2 of my dialysis center friends have already had this surgery. Looks like I'm next. I'm only waiting for confirmation from my doctor..........

Christmas is coming and I'm feeling.......

Saturday, September 15, 2012

the pressure to get gifts for people but I really can't afford it this year. Last year, I cross-stitched bookmarks for all the nurses in the dialysis center. My little 'piggy bank' is a little dry and I don't want to withdraw money from my bank account because there's not much there and I'm keeping a little nest egg in case I might need it. I don't have much but it is at least a little something.

I plan to get a haircut in December. Then I'll color it myself and then go for a hair treatment. That will be my Christmas gift to myself this year. So, I have to save up from now on. Gosh! It's so hard to be on a strict budget! But I have to be as I don't have much!

I love to bake christmas cookies and tasty snacks and give them as gifts. Shortbread, sugar cookies, brownies -- or even things like meat pies. Bring them all lunch one day as a holiday thank you!

Lots of pressure during festive celebration and double-pressure when we see all those sales! And in Malaysia, we have too many big sales coz too many celebration, hehe. I hope you will find cheaper but still great alternatives for Christmas presents.

I believe the adults need nothing more than a hug and a heartffelt Merry Christmas. Christmas is for kids and they are very easily thrilled with their presents. I only get presents for my 2 Grandkids.

There's an old saying, it's the thought that counts. I think a small thoughtful gift is much better than just buying something big or the new in thing. One gal gave coupons like free babysitting for a night. Christmas is a time for people not gifts, it's a time to get together and celebrate.

Last year I could not afford to buy gifts for anyone either. My husband and I had just moved over a thousand miles away from home and it was my first Christmas away from my parents and family. I told my family that I would only be able to give individual gifts to my 2 nephews and niece. Every one else got a homemade card and a small gift card. It was all in my budget and they all said it was understandable. My brother and sister-in-law said they could not afford gifts either so they were relieved. I think that if you share your situation with your family they may be relieved too. On my husband's side of the family we have also done a secret Santa or swap of some kind. Sometimes we have just done gifts under 10 dollars or homemade.

I agree. Gifts only, if you must, to those closest to you. I don't give a lot of gifts anymore. Most people have plenty anyway - me included! Plus, I travel at Christmas, so it's all about family.

I've considered for some baking something... like mini banana loaves, but I admit, not everyone wants baked goods. Don't worry about gifts...

You're already planning ahead, there could be something good to come along so you are getting prepared. I've had great success with really low cost home hair color treatments and I've gotten fabulous compliments so don't think twice about doing your own hair coloring. The cost of ruining one towel and getting even a high end store bought color treatment is still much, much less than the salon and tip! Good luck!

I know it's hard to be on a budget I'm on astrict one myself. I didn't start saving for christmas gifts till a few months ago and it won't be a very good year for me either. Now days most people and kids understand about the shortage of money and go with the flow. Don't worry you never no what might happen before christmas! Lucinda
