One day at a time friend...You need to let your body rest and get used to what you are doing. A walk would be nice to get your blood moving!

Having a vegetarian day!

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

I'm not supposed to take too much phosphate in my diet because I'm on dialysis. And phosphate being the evil siamese twin of protein, indirectly means I need to cut down my protein intake.

Today, my lunch was vegetarian. And my dinner would have been vegetarian too, if I hadn't caved in and had a few small pieces of fried pork fat! Have you tried it?! Better than crackling!!!! MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Anyway, I've been having meat for the past few days, so I thought I'd go vegetarian today. I'll have a bit of meat tomorrow, then have another vegetarian day. It was hard! That saucy chicken in the tuckshop looked soooooo yummy! But I told myself : "Nope, you had lots of meat yesterday, so time to cut back today, if you keep putting it off till tomorrow, when are you going vegetarian ever? Anyway, the shop will still be there, you can have the chicken some other time!". Sigh! Like I said, it's hard!

I really, really need to bring my phosphate levels down so I don't have to take the super expensive phosphate blocker, Lanthanum salts. The doc gave me a free sample and it tastes AWWWWFUUUUULLLLL! Yuck! I hope never to take it again, plus it's super expensive, I can't afford it. Even if he did prescribe it, I will never get it! Out of the question!

I am learning a lot about dialysis and food
from your posts.

Am so sorry you have such physical problems.

But You have a great attitude! - and attitude is
a BIG portion of the health equation.

You're on the right track, dear.

Taking small steps is the KEY-
re-learning food, exercise and stress habits.

Going Vegetarian is a challenge. Read up on it and you can get lots of ideas of foods that are on the diet and still taste like meat - like veggie burgers. Experiment. Remember your health is the most important thing you can have....... I know emoticon emoticon

What a jerk!

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

I have a lady friend that has breast cancer. She's married with kids. But her husband refuses to work. She has to work alone. Not only that, she has to do the housework and child minding as well! Despite being pain sometimes, she's just had surgery.

I can relate because sometimes after dialysis, I feel faint and dizzy but my Mom still expects me to do the dishes, all the dishes.

But my friend definitely has it worse than me! Can you imagine any guy being so useless and selfish! She's his wife, not his Mother!

Please pray for my friend. My heart bleeds just thinking of what she must be going through, day after day!

I will never understand a man who doesn't keep a job and support his family. That kind of role reversal is unacceptable to me even when the partners are healthy. Knowing that your friend is fighting cancer and alone in that struggle breaks my heart for her. Yes, I will be praying.

I think its time for her to lose the 'dead' weight!! Sometimes people are thimble size when we need an ocean to deal with life's realities. Cancer is more than this guy can handle. I bet on the inside he is about 8 years old. This is what I tell my nieces, don't have babies with a child.

Of Abs and Belly Rolls!

Monday, April 30, 2012

I'm so happy because I'm beginning to see progress, actually SEE progress. When I stand up, I can already see some definition in my abs. But when I sit down, I still get a belly roll but it's smaller than before.

I'm sure that my fat percentage is going down because I look leaner. Many people have told me that I've lost weight. But my measurements are about the same but I'm heavier somehow. Which probably means my muscles are increasing. And if I look leaner, all that Pilates is paying off!

Whooppeeeee!!!!!

Congrats on your increased fitness and confidence! But I find it necessary to point out that almost everyone will have some "roll" when they sit down, unless they try very, very hard to sit in an awkward way to hide it. A lot of models even have a tiny bit of a bell that gets photoshopped out.

A Surprise Brunch!

Saturday, April 28, 2012

I was feeling very blue last night and hardly slept a wink because I was so miserable but this morning, a friend of mine who lives miles away dropped in a rang my doorbell. My parents pounded at my door and said she was here.

At first, I thought she had called on the phone but she was like physically here! At my gate. As I said, I had a bad night and when she came I was just finally settling down to sleep. Well, I woke up, brushed my teeth and got ready to go out with her. She offered to buy me lunch, I said ok.

I had prawn noodles, she had springy noodles with ham and egg, and we split a large order of ice-cream sandwiches! Yuuuuuuummmmm! I just love that creamy vanilla ice-cream, sandwiched in crispy bread!

And then suddenly, I wasn't so blue anymore! I guess God does know and care what I'm going through! He sent my friend over! It was a total surprise!
