Yesterday (Saturday) I did some tough Pilates. I'm not really sure, but I think it was like 30 minutes worth, but like I said tough. I couldn't even finish all the reps but the instructor (on Youtube) kept on smiling and doing it like it was nothing!
I wish I had abs like hers but she probably spends hours each day working out because it's her profession. I really like her workouts! She really kicks butt! For those of you who are interested, her name is Cassey Ho and you can find her on youtube under POP Pilates. And, like Sparkpeople, her workouts are free! How cool is that?!
Oh, on to the main subject of this blog. I'm still sore from Saturday's workout, so I took a slow walk today. But my right knee keeps complaining. I suppose I should rest on Monday. I sure hope my knee recovers soon though, cos I can't wait to do some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), I hear that it burns some serious fat!

I knew that my knees will protest if I did another HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout, no matter how short; so I decided not to that today. I already did a 10 minute HIIT workout on Tuesday. I was feeling tired yesterday so today is workout day (Thursday). I thought of doing a Pilates workout but my muscles are still sore from Tuesday's workout, so I decided on a long walk instead.
I walked for 45 minutes, then I got a phone call from my Mom on my cell. She asked me to cook the rice (no biggie! we have a rice cooker) and drain the veggies in preparation for her to stir fry them (she was soaking them in water). She was on her way home, she was just going to pick up my brother from work.
Well, I did what she asked, took me less than 10 minutes, then I went for another walk, at a slower pace for 20 minutes to cool down. So, in total, I walked for 65 minutes! I don't want to push myself too hard. If my muscles are still sore, I need to give them time to mend and recharge before the next Pilates workout!
You need to pace yourself. After all this is a long-term thing. You don't want to push yourself too hard and then burn out! You can always push yourself again after your muscles have recovered!
Oh! Btw, I've recovered from my runny nose yesterday! Last night, actually!

I think I may be getting the flu! Not good! I feel so tired right now, I think I'll go to bed......

I initially wanted to do almost a full hour of high-intensity cardio. I was planning to do a vigorous 10 minute cardio routine 4 or 5 times. But after doing it one time, my knees started complaining and I got so breathless. I didn't think I could stand doing it even one other time.
The instructor, Cassey Ho really kicks butt. You can find her on www.youtube.com , just search for "pop pilates".
Well, after 10 minutes of high-intensity cardio, I did a 15 minute inner thigh workout and a 15 minute abs workout (also by Cassey). By the end of it all, I had difficulty walking straight. I would have liked to do more but I think my body is saying : "enough!".
So, I plan to slowly build my endurance and stamina up gradually. I'll see how I do with my next workout session on Thursday!

I was really tired this Sunday because I didn't get much sleep on Friday night. I was awakened at around 10am by some loud noises. I just turned myself on my side and went right back to sleep. And Goodness Gracious, guess what time it was when I eventually woke up?! 2pm! I even missed church!
I was understandably very hungry. My Mom was out. But she left some beef curry. I've been eating too much meat lately, so I was hankering for some veggies. My Mom bought lots of potatoes the other day. They were super cheap, 70 cents for about 13 medium sized potatoes!
I boiled some instant noodles but I didn't take the seasoning. Instead I put a tablespoon of sesame oil in a separate bowl, a pinch of dark soya sauce and about a tablespoon of chillie sauce. I peeled and cut up one potato, tore half a cup of cabbage and peeled and chopped up one small carrot. I boiled the veggies separately.
I debated how I should make the veggies more tasty : oyster sauce? salt? In the end I decided not to season or dress the veggies at all but to eat them just like that, without the water used to boil them. I'm watching my fluid as well as sodium intake as well.
Well, that was my healthy, low-sodium meal. The carrots tasted super sweet and yummy! The potatoes tasted yummy as well. Who needs salt/sodium!? Just try taking your veggies plain like that, it takes some getting used to, but they're yummy!
