I love my Cardio Ballroom DVD!

Well, it's Sunday afternoon now and I've been doing a whole lot of munching since Friday! And the reunion dinner is tonight! So, I was thinking, I can't be healthy without exercise! I've been taking a break from exercise this week because of the heat wave but it's been raining these past few evenings and I thought : enough is enough! I HAVE to exercise today, like right now!

My TV addict parents were having a nap from 2pm till about 4pm and I had the TV and DVD player all to myself! Then I remembered my new workout DVD that I bought a few weeks ago. Cardio Ballroom with Jennifer Hough! I put it on and tried my best to follow her intricate steps! Boy! I wish I could dance like her. But my main aim was exercise and this DVD delivered! I was sweating quite a lot at the end of 35 minutes. I couldn't do the last few minutes of cardio, I was so winded and sweaty! Oh well, it IS my first time doing this DVD! But I did do the cool down session with stretches!

I feel so good now!! I had a cool drink after the workout as well as a cold shower! Next up, is The Booty Barre by Tracey Mallet! This one is definitely more challenging! But I'll do it someday! I will try to see if I can do another DVD tomorrow!

How difficult are the dance steps to perform?
Would you recommend it to someone who has 2 left feet ?

Oh Good Lord! The mindless munching starts today!

It's only Saturday, in 2 days, it'll be Chinese New Year! But me and my Mom have already started the munching! We had 2 kinds of mini spring rolls with pork floss and prawn sambal filling, some of my mom's famous fried peanuts, some granola bites (which are really nut bites), and some fried narcissus bulbs!

Oh My! I think I may put on weight this CNY!

    Sometimes for all the holidays all you can do is just stick to your exercise routine and catch up on the food later. Our local TV Doctor said before the Holidays there is no use fighting it but try to minimize the Damage because you know you will much and snack for the various holidays but just stick to the regular exercise routine. ;)

It's Friday, Day 3 of dialysis for the week, which is why I'm extra tired today. I'm pooped, I'd like to just go to bed early tonight. goodnite sparkers!

Getting set for a week or profitable boredom

Why boredom? Most shops that are run by Chinese will be closed next week starting Monday. And that's means most of the interesting shops :(

Why profitable? Well it's CNY (Chinese New Year), and single people get blessed with Ang Pows! (lucky red packets with cash in them). I know that according to traditions, no matter how old you are, as long as you're single, you are entitled to get Ang Pows. But all I know is, my collection has been going down ever since I turned 12 not 21, but 12. Lot's of people are just, I dunno, trying to be 'economical' (read : stingy). Which is something my parents are not, which is why my family always loses out.

And CNY is also heatwave season, so I'll be taking it easy but I'll try not to overeat next week. My Mom kept saying in the weeks leading up to CNY that she won't buy the fatty snacks common to CNY but she bought some anyway! Sigh! I hope I won't gain this CNY, which means, self-control!

We've got fried narcissus bulbs, my Mom's famous fried peanuts, a little bottle of granola bites (from the nearby bakery), a bottle of fried lotus roots, a few bottles of pineapple tartlets, dried sweetmeat (with meat mainly) and some cookies here and there! Oh My!

So, not only will I be bored next week, but I'll be faced with unsealed bottles of all described above. Right now, they have cellopane seals on them. We're forbidden from opening them until next Monday (the 23rd of January : 1st day of CNY). Then on Monday, all hell breaks loose! lol!

I really have to force myself to exercise despite the heatwave!

    You can do it... maybe let your self have 1 different treat - and only 1 serving size each day... and stop there.. then you wont feel deprived.. or sometimes.. if there is something i really like- i will have 3 bites.
first bite... yum the taste and experience
2nd bite.. to keep you feeling like you ate it
3rd bite... the one you will remember!

I had McD's again, time to discipline myself!

I told you guys that yesterday (Tuesday) I ordered the McD's prosperity chicken burger and subbed the drink with my own orange cordial, and the fries for my own air-popped popcorn.

Well, today (Wednesday), I wasn't so wise. My Mom dropped me up at the dialysis center like waaaay early (I usually arrive at 12.30 noon for the 3rd shift at 1.30pm), I was there by 10am! My Mom said, pick your breakfast, I'll treat you. Well, the dialysis center is like almost next door to McD's! So, I said, I'll just have a filet-o-fish set without the hash brown. But no can do! McD's had a new 'policy'! If you order the filet for breakfast, you get the whole set (including the hash brown).

So, I thought, I'll enjoy this breakfast and just start eating healthy by the next meal! The reason I ordered the filet meal in the first place was because a burger is way lighter than rice and dishes (what I normally would order if I was eating anywhere else). And I was quite heavy already, because I'm a dialysis patient, you see. And I can't be too heavy! Otherwise my BP will drop (long story).

Anyways, I got home around 3 pm and had a late lunch. A cup of rice, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and a piece of fried catfish with chilli on it. I was too full for dinner, so I had 2 stuffed chillies (with fish paste) and one stuffed okra (also with fish paste).

Then my Mom got home and I had one slice of bbq meat. It's a Chinese New Year thing. I actually wanted another slice, but I controlled myself.

Oh well, tomorrow's another day!

    fish paste is basically ground fish meat without the bones mixed with a bit of flour and salt and repeatedly chopped (kinda hard to explain, I've seen my aunt do it) till it has a 'springy' texture. Then it's stuffed into okra or chillies and boiled till cooked.

Is fish paste fishy tasting? Is it spicy? I think you did ok...and you didn't say you would do better tomorrow...but at the next meal!
