Enjoying Meals out on a Budget!

I treated myself to squid curry today at the 'mamak' cafe! RM3.50 for a little dish of squid curry, a little on the pricey side by Malaysian standards but not super expensive though. I also had poori with a potato curry thing (forgot its' proper name) and 3 layered tea. It was a little too sweet for my taste though. The waiter had to add more evaporated milk & more ice for me to make it palatable. (The poori was RM1.50 & the tea was RM3.00).

Then my Mom gave me a lift to the nearby mall. We had a soy ice-cream cone each. She said it was better than McD's ice-cream. Each soy ice-cream cone was RM2.50.

So, in Malaysia, even if you're not rolling in money, you can still eat pretty decently!

Healthier Fish & Hash Browns!

I felt like eating hash browns and fried fish for lunch today. I decided to try an experiment. I decided to bake the hash browns and fish fillet instead of frying it! That will save countless fat grams!

It took about an hour for the fish to be really cooked and it wasn't as flaky or easy to cut but it was all right, there was still a crispy crust to it. And the hash browns didn't take as long but it didn't taste as good as when they were fried but I'm feeling very good.

I managed to make some junk food not junk food! Lol! I'll be baking my fish and chips or hash browns in the future! It may not taste as good but it's healthier!

Nice Potato Soup!

My Mom cooked some nice ABC soup today, which is basically chicken, potato, carrot, onion and tomato clear soup. Most chinese soups are simple like that, but they're so delicious. You need to boil it for some time to get the flavours to meld together though.

My Mom also stir-fried some young ladies finger with dried shrimp. That was yummy too! Also, her wine chicken stew and pork sambal (a kind of tamarind chillie dish) was yummy too! I'm glad my Mom is still around to cook for me!

Too many snacks! Next time, I have to be more mindful of what I eat all the time. Little bites do add up! Maybe that's why my belly roll is still there! Good day for exercise though. I did a philates workout, then a short strength training workout, and then took a little walk in the neighborhood park. It was cool and breezy today. I love today's wheather!

I really need to get serious!

Some people might think I'm at a healthy weight but when I feel my belly roll, I don't think so......... I just feel fat!

So, I really need to push myself to get serious with the exercise. As for the food, I do try to keep to a healthy range whenever possible, but I do have my weaknesses and allow myself a small treat now on then.

My belly roll is so obvious that some ppl have commented I need more crunches. We all know that it's serious cardio I need. Well, I will have to try to squeeze in more exercise DVDs into my week!
