So, I'm sitting around surfing in SP, feeling bored, when the thought comes :
"Man! I could use a double cheeseburger right now, I'm sooooo hungry!".
I know it's a bad idea but the craving wouldn't go. And I was genuinely hungry, I've had nothing to eat all day but a couple of tuna sandwiches made with my mom's homemade bread.
My mind was debating where to go to get my snack. Should I walk 30 minutes to the closest McD's? To Old Town Coffee House for noodles? To the nearby café called Coconut Groove for a coconut shake?
Then I reflected on the state of my finances. I have been spending a lot lately, so I couldn't afford to spend more, I've got to start saving money. So, I decided to make myself some oatmeal with added cereal to make it thicker to take the edge off my hunger...
It worked! I'm not hungry anymore and the burger fantasies have disappeared! Hallelujah!!!

Well, I finally went to the Coconut Groove today and had a coconut jelly. I initially wanted a coconut shake but decided on a coconut jelly instead because it's cheaper. It was cool and nice. The cafe also has a nice atmosphere. I did some cross-stitch there and finally finished a library book there.
Looks like it I have enough spare cash, this will be my regular Thursday hangout! I happen to see the glasses that the coconut shakes are served in, they are huge! I will only have a coconut shake if 1) I have enough spare cash and 2) if I am light enough so the shake won't make me too heavy for dialysis the next day.
I'll keep you posted if I do try a coconut shake!

Ah! How nice to have leisure time! I plan to do some cross-stitch today as well as some reading. I'm reading a Christian self improvement book atm, and I'm making notes so I get the most of it.
It's so nice to have a day all to yourself to do whatever you want! Oh, well almost the whole day, I have a Home Fellowship meeting tonight.
I did think of going to a café to enjoy a nice spot to do my sewing; but that means spending money. So, now I'm at home with the air-conditioning on as the heatwave in Malaysia is still on; and I just made myself a cup of green tea....ah! bliss!
Well, I've been sewing for some time now. I'm heading out for a coconut shake! I'll be back to tell you how it is!
Ooooh! Tough luck, the Coconut Groove is not open on Tuesdays. Really! That's the name of the café! They serve nothing but coconut inspired desserts. Oh well, I'll try again on Thursday! Sigh! And I was so looking forward to a coconut shake! I did pop in to check out the hairdressers next door, priceeeey! I don't think I'll go there unless I get a good part-time job that gives me lot's of moolah. Otherwise, I don't think I can get my hair done there!

I'm trying to build up my savings again after spending a lot of it on :
1) a Mother's Day present for my Mom (v. expensive perfume : her favorite)
2) a pair of designer jeans that was on sale (but still expensive)
3) a good study Bible (I would say the best in the market atm)
Whenever I go out, I have to resist spending my money. Occasionally, I still treat myself, but I have to make sure I don't break the bank doing it. And I don't eat out as often, and other little saving tricks like that.
A friend of mine is an Avon lady and they're having a mid-year sale atm. I got myself a pendant and earrings set for RM15.90. I wanted an attractive eyeshadow for RM14.90 but I have to spend RM20 and above to get the free eyeshadow brush, so I got another eyeshadow in the same shade for my mom's birthday, which is coming in December, I'll just give it to her early.
This means if I want to save money, I have to scrimp for 2 weeks at least....

my friend the bride was beautiful, while my friend the bridegroom look dashing in his suit! I'm proud to say that I only took a small helping of food as most of it was fried. I did take 2 small helpings of ais kacang though (a Malaysia dessert of shaved ice with rose syrup, evaporated milk, coconut sugar and various garnishes, like red beans, sweet corn, peanuts, jelly cubes etc.). I also took a few small pieces of watermelon.
I'm afraid I drank too much though, it was a very hot day! It's customary to give a little love gift of cash to the married couple, I didn't give that much as I can't afford it, but suffice to say, I gave something.
I wish my friends all the best for their new lives together! Don't you just love weddings!? Although, I wonder when it'll be my turn to be the bride, I'm already approaching my 40s............
