It's as hot as an oven here!!!

Sunday, May 08, 2011

Oh, Good Lord! I'll probably go insane without air-conditioning! Nearly a week without rain and the weather is scorching hot here! 35 degrees Celsius, the last time I heard the news!

I don't feel like exercising either but I guess I'll just have to get used to exercising indoors. Well, there's always tomorrow! My lips are cracking with the heat too! I wish I could soak myself in an ice-bath till the heat wave is over!

And unfortunately, I've been over-drinking because of the heat! I'll probably get a tongue lashing from my friend the nurse when I turn up for dialysis tomorrow........

Stay cool! But you do need to remember to keep your fluids under control!

Have a great "cool" day!

New Haircut!

Saturday, May 07, 2011

Actually, I should have posted this a few weeks ago when I actually got my hair restyled but I never got around to it till now. My bad!

Anyway, I LOVE It! I got graduated layers (I think that's what they are called) cut from my chin to the bottom, so it looks stylish. I have square jaws and I read that if I had my hair cut that way, it softens my look.

I also had my fringe styled so that I have a side parting at last, my hair is stubborn and usually I have a center parting, which I've read is bad for square jaws. Only thing is, I have to keep using hair wax to keep my fringe in place.

Thank God for hair wax!

Here's a pic (though not a very good one, but so you get the general idea of my haircut!) :

Churros for lunch!

Thursday, May 05, 2011

I think I'm getting addicted to churros! I keep having them every time I go to the neighborhood mall!

Yesterday, I had 2 caramel-filled churros for lunch! Man! Were they good! Surprisingly filling too! I also went to the bakery to see what they had and bought a chicken and mushroom puff. I had that for tea during dialysis today, it was good too.

Actually, I shouldn't have had the puff because frankly speaking, the churros were filling enough. So, for dinner, I omitted my usual serving of rice and just had veggies, tofu and pork ball soup with veggies for dinner.

I hope I didn't go over in calories. I usually go under.

This is because I live in Malaysia, we have a lot of interesting food here!
You gotta love chilli tho, otherwise you'll be drinking a LOT of water!

Update on phospate levels etc.

Monday, April 25, 2011

Well, the doctor came to dialysis centre today to see us. When my turn came he congratulated me on my descending phosphate levels, he said if I continue watching my protein/phosphate intake, I will soon have normal (acceptable) phosphate levels.

However, he said that my calcium levels were still too high. So, I have to swear off dairy products and high calcium foods completely! Otherwise, my phosphate blocker will be changed to Lanthanum salts, which means an additional expense of RM300.

I told the doctor, there's no way I can afford that. I'll be praying about this tonight. I believe the Lord can do anything, including zapping my calcium levels down.......

I hope everything works out for you. Congratulations on getting your phosphate levels down. Thats a big accomplishment. I'm sure you will be able to do the same with calcium.

My Easter Sunday

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Well, despite all my good intentions last night, I had a bit of trouble sleeping. I even woke up several times with a dry mouth, and I had to go downstairs to the freezer to get an ice-cube. Sucking on an ice cube lessens the amount of fluid intake as opposed to chugging down on ice water.

I finally managed to nod off around 1.30am, the result of which I couldn't hear the alarm go off at 5.30am. Around 6.05am, my lift arrived and called my mobile phone. Now, that I heard and I jumped out of bed with a "Oh No! I overslept! That must be Uncle J!" (my lift).

Hurriedly, I answered my phone and requested that he wait for me 2 minutes. I speedily brush my teeth, pulled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt (It's acceptable in Malaysia to go to church in jeans and and a t). I didn't even have time to put on my watch. But fortunately, I remembered the library book.

I told myself : "I know you're sleepy, but try to stay awake during the sermon!", well, guess what? I succeeded! I attended both the Sunrise Service at 6.30am and the First Easter Service at 8.30am. I even managed to return the library book and borrow another one in between.

I also had a nice breakfast of chinese steamed buns called pau. I had one vegetarian pau, and one bbq pork pau. Both were delicious!

When I got home around 10am, I crashed into bed and had a nap. I've just woken up, I don't feel sleepy anymore. I plan to have a relaxing day, just cross-stitching or reading......

Sounds wonderful! I ran out of time Easter Sunday morning also. I went without any makeup on! Fortunately, I had been in sun and had some color on my face.
