Update on phospate levels etc.

Well, the doctor came to dialysis centre today to see us. When my turn came he congratulated me on my descending phosphate levels, he said if I continue watching my protein/phosphate intake, I will soon have normal (acceptable) phosphate levels.

However, he said that my calcium levels were still too high. So, I have to swear off dairy products and high calcium foods completely! Otherwise, my phosphate blocker will be changed to Lanthanum salts, which means an additional expense of RM300.

I told the doctor, there's no way I can afford that. I'll be praying about this tonight. I believe the Lord can do anything, including zapping my calcium levels down.......

    I hope everything works out for you. Congratulations on getting your phosphate levels down. Thats a big accomplishment. I'm sure you will be able to do the same with calcium.

My Easter Sunday

Well, despite all my good intentions last night, I had a bit of trouble sleeping. I even woke up several times with a dry mouth, and I had to go downstairs to the freezer to get an ice-cube. Sucking on an ice cube lessens the amount of fluid intake as opposed to chugging down on ice water.

I finally managed to nod off around 1.30am, the result of which I couldn't hear the alarm go off at 5.30am. Around 6.05am, my lift arrived and called my mobile phone. Now, that I heard and I jumped out of bed with a "Oh No! I overslept! That must be Uncle J!" (my lift).

Hurriedly, I answered my phone and requested that he wait for me 2 minutes. I speedily brush my teeth, pulled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt (It's acceptable in Malaysia to go to church in jeans and and a t). I didn't even have time to put on my watch. But fortunately, I remembered the library book.

I told myself : "I know you're sleepy, but try to stay awake during the sermon!", well, guess what? I succeeded! I attended both the Sunrise Service at 6.30am and the First Easter Service at 8.30am. I even managed to return the library book and borrow another one in between.

I also had a nice breakfast of chinese steamed buns called pau. I had one vegetarian pau, and one bbq pork pau. Both were delicious!

When I got home around 10am, I crashed into bed and had a nap. I've just woken up, I don't feel sleepy anymore. I plan to have a relaxing day, just cross-stitching or reading......

    Sounds wonderful! I ran out of time Easter Sunday morning also. I went without any makeup on! Fortunately, I had been in sun and had some color on my face.

Because I have to up at the crack of dawn for the Easter Sunrise Service at my church! I'll be turning in as soon as my laundry is done!

I hope to spring up as soon as the alarm goes off! So I pray that I will have a good night's sleep tonight. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Yes! After some adjustments in my diet, I've managed to bring my Phosphate levels down! It may not be at an ideal level yet but I'm on my way! My friend, the nurse told me that if I continue with my new dietary controls, the phosphate level will reach acceptable levels soon!

Like the Sparkpeople healthy lifestyle, this too is a lifestyle change. It wasn't so hard after all, all I need is self-control!

A neat trick to make a plain sandwich taste better!

Oh No! I forgot to get some ham while I was out today, all I have for my sandwiches are homemade bread (made by my fantastic Mom), EVOO margarine and some salad leaves (lettuce).

It's midnight and I'm hungry! I figured a small snack will help me finally go to sleep. So I took out the stuff from the fridge. Then, it occurred to me! Why not spread one slice of bread with margarine, and the other slice with my favourite chillie sauce! That'll make make my sandwich less plain!

So, that's what I did! It was yummy! Even without a slice of meat! I also warmed up a slice of pizza that I brown bagged from tea! Sure looking forward to have to rest of that pizza for lunch tomorrow!
