Client meeting

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

I am meeting with a client today, so I have to spark quickly this morning.

I am way more rested even though I didn't sleep in... of course I was asleep before 10 last night as well! :)

Have a great Tuesday, folks. Sending love and skinny vibes!

Another no rest weekend...

Monday, February 28, 2011

I worked all weekend like normal. I got to go out to dinner with a girl friend in the neighboring town. It was great to see her. Not only a dear friend, but my weight watchers leader as well. I haven't seen her on a personal level in forever.

While we were sitting at dinner, fire trucks started going past. We were leaving anyway, so I hopped in my truck and turned on my pager. There was a structure fire in my first due. I beat feet to the station and then the scene.

At least 5 out of the 12 condos were a total loss. Two of them were owned or rented by friends of mine. We fought it into the wee hours of the morning. It rekindled about 4 this morning, so more crews were sent out. We had 11 fire departments fighting this fire. Tragedy.

Trying to be positive - no one was hurt, civilian or firefighter.

Try and have a great Monday folks,

Morning Janette. Well done for going to the rescue. You really are a wonderful person and your help would have made such a difference. I am really glad nobody was hurt and that is the main thing. Sending lots of hugs xx emoticon

I can't believe it was something so simple...

Friday, February 25, 2011

So I broke last night and went to the doctor. I was miserable. I wasn't getting any better.

So, after being poked, prodded, say ahhhh, blah blah blah... its acid reflux. Seriously? seriously.

I have GERD. I have been taking omeprazole for years. I guess with the touch of the flu I had at the beginning of the week plus other things, I am having an enormous flare up. He said my throat was red and raw and that the pain in my ears is probably from where the reflux has made it up to my Eustachian tubes. WOW. I didn't realize that acid reflux could do all that.

I am now on a second GERD med for a while. I took it last night and started feeling relief within the hour.

I started doing research about ways I could change my diet to help with it as well as taking into account my food allergies. I really don't like the idea of the "alkaline" diet. It basically removes almost everything I eat on a regular basis... citrus, tomato products, etc.

I was surprised as well when the article I was reading said limit the amount of strawberries and blueberries you eat. Daggone. Looks like bananas (yuck) and apples for a while.... No lemonade!! :( :( :( MY FAVORITE. No french fries (ok, they are a vice... I know I shouldn't be eating them anyway). No ice cream, sour cream or cottage cheese. NO COFFEE. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG! Who made these suggestions?? Satan?? I know, I know, I know. Daggone it. *sigh*

Couple these with my food allergies and it feels like I can have rice, veggies and water.

So, small steps as with anything else. I'm going to substitute grapefruit with banana. Egg whites instead of whole egg... although I really feel like I'm wasting food when I dump the yolks. Red licorice instead of chocolate when I want a treat.

I know moderation, like in all facets of life, will be key. Denying myself of a pleasure I am used to will only lead to more problems. Maybe this is the kick in the pants I needed.

Wowee!! Good Luck with all of those changes. If anyone can do it you can. You'll have to keep us posted on if the diet changes really help and make you feel better.

That totally sucks!! But at least you know the real issue now and you have the right meds. I hope you start feeling better soon:) It will take time to get this new eating plan down, but look at the bright side...maybe you'll be more healthy and happy! :)

I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! It sounds like you're starting out with a realistic perspective; that should help.
Love that!

Get through this crisis and when you are 100% sit down and do an objective evaluation of whats going on inside your body.

I season my egg whites with a ground Italian seasoning and it enhances their alread delicious taste.

Moderation is a key to health, but there are also other keys you might want to consider. Change in lifestyle, for example.
Do more research on your own about GERD. See how other people have dealt with it successfully. Faith is another example. Believe in self; believe in others, and believe in God. God Bless you on your quest, Vic, Team Leader of SP God's Family.

I think I'm on the mend. Made it to work today, but probably am not going to finish out the day. Starting to feel rather poopy.

John - I was in bed at 6PM last night. I really wanted to get up and do something... but I forced myself to stay in bed until shower time. I think it helped, but I may have overdone it today.

Everyone - thanks for the get well wishes! Hugs (but not too close. I wouldn't want to infect you! LOL)

I have nothing exciting to report other than I did go out on the porch for about 30 minutes yesterday. It was the first time I was really outside since my Sunday night rescue.

I may be sick, but I still think about each of my spark friends often. :)

Glad you are on the mend!!!

The world can survive without your ammazingly wonderful presence for a couple of days. you are like so many commited and devoted people I know, you expend so much energy caring for the rest of us that you often have little left for yourself.

I have the flu...

and I forgot how much it royally sucks.

I am feeling a little better today, but still an hour (maybe) of up time, then back down for a few hours.

Oh, as it turns out... my patient had a fractured hip. Ouch.

Feel better soon and fight the urge to "do something" just because you are always doing something. Take it as a sign from on high that you need to take Janette time
