So, I am home "sick" today. I feel so-so, but yesterday was rough.
I had a medic intercept in the morning, so I left my friends and headed to the ski area. The patient didn't need a medic so I sent the patient with the on-duty crew and went back to spending time with my best friend from high school and her family.
Last night... all I can say is wow. We had a two vehicle car wreck plus 2 ski accidents that were both femur/hip fractures.
My patient was over a mile (maybe 2 miles... I'm not sure. She said she had been lying there for close to 2 hours) into the back country. It was dark, it was raining/freezing rain. Fortunately we were able to access the patient by snowmobile and sled. In summary, I got home after 11PM last night. I had to do this. My dad took the other femur. It was like a parade of ambulances from our county to the hospital.
I'm going to try to work from home a little later on.

I ran in shorts and a t-shirt today!
I did a speed check to see where I was with my 5k. I have fared well over the winter... I ran 9:50/miles today. I know its supposed to be my easy day, but I had to test the water... and it felt GOOOOOOD.
Actually, I was getting a little crampy at that pace, but wanted to keep it up.

I am back to making my lists. I hadn't been for about a week and I noticed that I wasn't really accomplishing anything when I got home from work, so yesterday and today I started writing lists. I started calling them "today I want to" and changed them to "today I will". I didn't want to have an "out".
Yesterday was a bust for me. I felt pretty under the weather and was worried that I had whatever my Dad has. I went to bed early and only woke up once in the middle of the night, which is pretty good for me.
I am determined to run today. Its supposed to be clear and 45 here. My program says bike trainer and yoga, but I flip flopped today and yesterday so that I'm lifting and running today. I still don't feel 100%, but I need to get back on the wagon after being a slacker for 4 days.
Ok, back to work.

Even though I'm exhausted, I'm in pretty good spirits:
I got off my shift on time again last night (we did have a pretty bad call in the evening, but it turned out somewhat okay).
I eventually got a nap in for about a half hour.
I slept most of the night. We got paged for a fire at the nursing home. They paged all the fire depts and our dept was the farthest out, so I didn't go. I felt guilty, but I don't think I would have been any help. The page was at 02220.
I made it to work on time. I plan to run at lunch, although the weather isn't looking real promising... windy and rain forecasted. Maybe the treadmill is in my future this evening.
My Dad came down with a stomach bug. Apparently, he tossed his cookies during the end of his shift yesterday and was so bad off that my Mom had to go get him. She said he was running a fever this morning and wasn't going to work. I think that's the first day of work my Dad has missed ever. I'm praying he didn't give it to me.
Ok, happy Monday, I have tax maps to update!
