No rest for the weary...

Never got the nap... negative
Did get off shift on time... positive
Did get to eat with mom and granny... positive

There was a call at 0145 this morning... sledding accident. The girl had a bad femur fracture and it was not accessible by ambulance. I heard the call. I knew I had to be at work today, but I couldn't leave the on duty crew to deal with it. They were over 20 miles away and I was 7 miles away. I went. It was bad. She was drunk. She was hysterical. Her friends were drunk. Her friends were distracting. It was hard to deal with at this point 0230 in the morning.

Long story short... I got the patient air evacuated and got back in bed by about 0445. I couldn't sleep. And here I am at work starting at 0900. I'm here until 2100 (9PM). I caught up on my paperwork and was just getting ready to lay down for a nap and off we went to yet another call. My wonderful partner did all the work. Bless her.

I'll stop griping now. Still ready for that nap.

Good grief... car wreck after car wreck this morning... slow down! Please!

I'm going to take a nap... its snowy and windy today. So much for walking around the cemetary... maybe tomorrow...

I'm going to hit either the bike trainer or the treadmill tonight. My food is ready for tomorrow, so I have no excuses except laziness! :)

Here's to a slow day the rest of the day!

    I am woefully behind in blog reading/watching so it took me until this afternoon to view this. I had to smile because you look and sound exactly as I pictured you looking and sounding.

A dude much older than me once said "The blues dont care whose got em' " True Dat!!! It was 60 here today and sunny and I actually relaxed a bit and let my blues melt with the remaining snow. Winter, she is a cruel, cruel mistress because I know within a week it will be dreary again. But hey, that's why I gots me friends, correct?

  Life challenges you even when you really don't want the challenge. It is amazing how resilient the heart can be. For me, my heart has a great memory, if only my brain was as sharp. I think it is amazing how life will take out the trash our hearts hoards. There are challenges we have zero control over, but the one thing you can control is you. And it appears you have taken control and making the best of something your heart has not forgotten. Enjoy the weekend!

Fighting the losing battle today...

I have seasonal affective disorder (SAD). For some reason today it is getting the best of me. I am usually careful to take my vitamin D, sit near windows, etc. I guess it kind of snuck up on me today since its sunny out. I don't know, but today is a hard day.

It is too cold to run today so I walked 2 miles. Its pretty pathetic that walking 2 miles burns 139 calories and running 2 miles is about double that. I am planning on hitting the gym tonight for a good solid run. I'm actually thinking about asking the boss if I can leave a little early.

So, friends, I hope to be back to normal tomorrow... or I guess I should say as normal as my normal can be.

Set up the bike trainer, that is.

The bike trainer was upstairs in the unheated part of the house... buried under years of treasures that have been stuffed into one tiny room because of the floor restoration folks being here.

My bike was out in the garage. Again, unheated and a fair amount of snow to plod through to go get it.

Now, my bike sits proudly on my husband's trainer. I gave it a nice, easy whirl last night for about a half hour. My left knee protested a little, but got over it.

So now, like I my house, the bike trainer sits in the living room. No matter what, I have to look at it. I already hung my coat on it today. I chuckled to myself when I did that thinking about all the stories I've heard of fitness equipment becoming clothing racks.

I really want to get to the base again today and run because I'm guessing the temperature will not go above my threshold 20 degrees for outdoor running. I am supposed to meet my new swim partner this evening as well, so 2 trips to the base today potentially.

Husby just texted and said he doesn't have a crew today and will be home in a bit. He hinted to me the other day that he wanted to get in better shape. I will encourage him to come with me to the base at lunch and walk on the treadmill while I run. I told him once the weather gets better I'll come down to town in the evenings and walk or bike with him. I think he wants to do it, but doesn't know how.

We tried the sparkpeople "alfredo" last night. My husband, who is very much italian, LOVED it! He said definitely make again! :) He is such a picky eater that it thrills me when I find something he likes.

Ok friends, I need to get working.

    I have a love hate relationship with the trainer too. We only have one, and probably need a second one. Glad to hear you and hubby are going to workout together...it is always nicer that way

    I chuckled when you hung your jacket on it too. I have done that once. Wouldn't think 20 degrees would be nice weather to run in. Hope you & hubby get some done today. Stay warm.

    Boy do I know all about the clothing rack thing! I keep the bike and treadmill cleaned off, but the bo-flex is a completely different story!! All of those band thingies make for a perfect coat rack.....an expensive coat rack that is!!!!

I'm gonna check out that recipe. I love trying new ones. Actually just about every night its a new and different recipe. I have a bad habit of never remaking it even though we all might love it. For me it's on to the next creative dish :) oh well, we can't all be perfect haha!

    Hiya, well done on finding a new meal for the husby. I think I might look that one up. I am a bit picky too and love it when I find something new. I laughed when you said about hanging your coat on the bike. I would do the same! Have fun at the base and good luck with getting the husby on the treadmill.
