My first day off in 19 days...

and I couldn't sleep last night.

I agreed to cover the second half of my dad's shift and we had a late call, so I didn't get home until after 0100 this morning. Of course, I couldn't go to sleep right away. It was after 0200 before I actually got in bed and laid there until at least 0400. I woke up at 0630, let the dog out and forced myself to go back to bed for an hour. Got up again to give my granny her meds. I am beat. I better sleep better tonight! LOL

I talked to my friend Jenny yesterday. We are meeting at 1030 for a long bike ride. I'm curious how I'll do on the bike with all the running I've been doing. No matter which we direction we ride from here, its uphill. Lots and lots of climbing. I haven't seen Jenny in forever. We used to swim regularly together and we used to work together until I got laid off. I'm eager to catch up and get a good workout at the same time.

I've been trying my hardest to follow Sparkpeople's nutrition plan that it sets for me everyday. In other words, I'm trying to work myself out of the restricted number of calories I used to eat when I wasn't working out consistently. So, with that being said, let me tell you about my dinner last night.

I was told to eat (I did make substitutions based on things I will eat)
2 chicken breast halves
10 spears of asparagus
2 pats of butter
.6 cup mashed potato
.75 cup berries
1 serving greek yogurt
1 cup tea

I also hadn't had my cottage cheese from lunch or my snack of black beans and corn with spices, so I prepared that too.

I made it through all of that except the chicken. I ate most of 1 piece and gave the end to the dog. I also substituted A1 for butter. I still can't bring myself to put butter on food... or salt.

I woke up with a 2 pound weight gain. I can't imagine why... lol. That just seemed so dinner heavy. I have never eaten 2 chicken breasts in one sitting. Not even when I was at my heaviest.

I have to cover a shift at the ambulance station tonight, so I have breakfast, lunch and dinner all measured out and packed in my lunchbox. Tonight's dinner seems way more reasonable portion size and calorie wise than last night. I just need to remember to eat my snacks and meals evenly throughout the day so I'm not at the end of the day and having a ton of calories to swallow.

Oh, an aside... all of that food yesterday and my fat and carbs were under goal and my calories were only 11 calories over minimum. Whew.

Glad that you have sorted your food out for today and tonight - whatever you are doing is working. Your looking great and your always so energetic and positive. working from home...

I worked from home yesterday. I was so focused on work that I forgot to blog.

Things to be happy about:
- even though I didn't eat what was prescribed, I did stay in all my ranges. WOOT!
- even though I ddin't workout, my body feels rested and ready to tackle a 3 mile run today
- I got to see my husby all day yesterday even though he was working in the garage and I was working on the computer, I got kisses every time he came in for a cup of coffee. :) :) :)
- I got to go back to my home :( but did get to spend time with Mom and Granny
- I came home to a clean, warm house

(I am going to skip all the negative things I would say right now. Trying to keep in the positive self talk mindframe!)

Things to look forward to:
- I want to play bridge with Mom and Granny this evening
- Going for a run at lunch
- Riding the bike trainer tonight while I watch NCIS
- Staying on track
- Getting to snuggle up with my dog tonight

I am having an "off" day. Not like, I'm in a bad mood or anything, but just off.

I didn't have my coffee this morning, so I have a caffiene deprived headache now. I still went and ran at lunch. My run was so so.

I would rather talk about yesterday's run. I am on the last week of couch to 5k, so I'm walking for 5 minutes and running for 30 minutes without stopping. I was able to run 3 miles in under 30 minutes, at my PR min/mile time... 9:52. I set a half mile PR yesterday at 4:37. I've decided that by the end of next season I want to do a 5k in 27 minutes. That's my long term goal. With the success I've had with couch to 5k, I think I can do it.

I went on a shopping frenzy yesterday. Winter is rapidly approaching and I don't have a lot of warm clothes that fit, so I went to the... *gasp* MALL. I HATE the mall. HOWEVER, I did go to Old Navy and picked out some cute tops and sweaters to wear for work... All were size S. :)

I've never been a small anything I said to myself.

I rushed home after the mall, folded laundry, changed laundry, unloaded the dishwasher and made dinner. WHEW. I never made it to the pool.

I get to work from home tomorrow because my truck needs to go into the shop. I really appreciate the ability to telecommute. Hopefully I can get things squared away with it, get some new tires put on it and aligned, so I'll be ready for winter.

Finger tied

Like tongue tied, I am "finger tied". I don't have much to say today either.

I start the last week of couch to 5k today. Its below freezing out, but the sun is shining so it shouldn't be too bad.

I want to swim tonight, but I have a feeling life is going to get in the way. I have a hundred things to do this afternoon and not a lot of time to do them in.
