Leo's mom is in the hospital so late night last night.

Really tired and not motivated today.

I adhere strictly to diet and exercise and I'm gaining weight again.

    Aw, I am sorry! Maybe if you don't worry about it too much you wont gain anymore.Thats what happens to me. If I am hyper aware of my weight I always seem to gain it. Its strange I know. I hope Leo's mom gets well soon. *hugs*

Late night swim...

So I actually got my two-a-day in yesterday. I ran 2.5 miles at lunch and swam 1000m last night. Here's why I was so late...

Husby normally gets home around 1930 and we go up to the base and swim. He had a late flight and didn't get home until 2030. I debated saying heck with it, but I stuck to my guns and got my two-a-day in. I normally like to swim closer to 1600m, but I will take what I can get. I did a 500m warm up, 200m of drills and 300m cool down. All my times were typical me.

I thought my hamstring would respond well to the cool water of the pool. That was not the case. In fact, I think it started to ache more. So after my 1000m, I sat in the hot tub for about 10 minutes. That did the trick. My legs are a little tired today, but my hammy isn't sore.

I have a run and a bike programmed for today. I am hoping that husby will go on the ride with me.

While I was at the base, I saw one of my paramedic instructors. Its been forever since we've talked and we decided that we're going to meet up this evening and hang out. I told her that it would have to wait until after my bike workout. She completely understood.

Life got in the way of my two-a-day

My day went from excellent to suck back to pretty good yesterday. Why do I let people get to me sometimes? Oy, anyway, I wrote it all down and got it out of my system and I was good to go by the time the husby got home.

By the way, I made the slow cooker pineapple chicken teriyaki recipe from spark recipes. Holy YUM, Batman! I added some garlic powder and cayenne pepper for some kick and it was a dish delish!

I ran yesterday and decided to cut it short because my hammy was stiff... not really sore per se, but just stiff. It made me feel like I wasn't getting full extension in my right leg... AND a dog chased me. Seriously people. Leash. Fence. Something. Anyway.

I also found out that there was a shooting just up the road from where I run yesterday about an hour after I got done working out. YIKES! Apparently, the shooter turned himself in though. I am a little tentative about going back today.

My walking friend was back today after not out walking for several days. I don't even know his name, we just talk while we're working out. I said "I was worried about you, I haven't seen you in a while". I didn't want to sound like a creeper or anything, but he is an older gentleman and actually was worried that something had happened to him. He said that he had 6 soccer games to referee in the last few days so he hadn't been out to the cemetary. I'm glad that's all it was.

I have a run (couch to 5k week 7 day 2) and a swim programmed for today. I need to get back to my two-a-days. Husby says he's coming with me to the pool tonight. I am very happy that he chooses to join me for some of my workouts.

I'm tired this morning even though I slept really well last night, but still in my chipper lovin' life mood as always.

So my right hamstring is giving me a little bit of a fit. I guess I need to stretch more. Friends, help me on this one... what do you think? I don't want to push too hard... Maybe a little stretch after running?

I have a run and bike programmed for today. I need to get back to my two-a-days. I really really need to change the oil in my truck this evening though. I also need to hit the grocery store. The bike may get sacrificed for life getting in the way once again.

I have no excuses Wednesday and Thursday nights though (swim and bike). Friday night is homecoming and I'm marching in the alumni band for WVU... always a good time and during pregame at the football game Saturday.

I am really pleased with the progress I'm making with my run times. I keep all that stuff on dailymile.com. I love that site. It tells me how many doughnuts I burn! (among other things) :) Nothing like putting exercise in perspective.

    Sometimes we have to make adjustments for our bodies. You know yourself best. Just do everything slowly at first so you don't overstrain or cause injury. Ha! What do I know - I can't even run! But my niece went through problems too.

    Life gets in the way of exercise for everyone once in a while.Its inevitable.No worries.

I would do some extra stretching.It will probably help.I know Paul was having the same problem a few days ago and he stretched more and he feels a lot better now.

Slow ride, take it easy...

My run was exactly that. Slow and easy yesterday. I did a trail run and with all the leaves down, it was hard to see the surface, so I had to slow down.

About 4 minutes into my run, I saw my good pal, Paula. She and I used to work together (we both got laid off on the same day) and we would walk together at lunch or go to the fitness room. We chatted for a little bit. She sounds and looks like she's doing great.

There were 2 big hills to tackle on Middle Ridge Trail then a nice long downhill to the intersection of Middle Ridge and Railroad Grade. I swung a right onto Railroad Grade and had a gradual climb and some rolling terrain. I made it to the end of Railroad Grade in a field just outside of the cabin area. I hung a left and up some more hills to the pavement and cabin area. Took another left (starting to sound like a nascar race, eh?) onto the pavement of the cabin area road to the 4 way intersection near the lodge. Turned left (you're surprised by this, right??) and had a strong downhill run to the finish.

I ran 13min/mile. It was such a beautiful day that I stopped and took pictures along the way. I'm sure that if I were running on flat pavement, my time would have been more in line with the rest of my runs, but I remind myself that Sunday is a long, slow day no matter what.

When I got home, I spent about an hour in the garden pulling plants and preparing it for winter. My sunflowers were like trying to dig trees up out of the ground. I had a ton of peppers and carrots left and a few green beans.

I have a 2.5 mile run programmed for today and hopefully a weight training session tonight before or after fire dept training. I really need to work my upper body since I haven't been getting in the amount of swimming I would like.

    Ah, to be young again and full of that vim and vigor and ABLE to do it!

Love those vegetable gardens. Right now, I'm going to plant some tulip bulbs.
