Weather Underground say 50 degrees, my running shoes say GO!

I never thought I would be happy to be back to work... but I guess it isn't the work that makes me happy (although I am happy when I deliver to a client on time and under budget). I am back to the ROUTINE. I did miss yoga this morning, but strength training last night made me sore from some odd reason. I actually used lighter weights than normal, but I guess I was really targeting specific muscle groups than working the entire circuit.

So, I made it to work a little early... got my first 32 of water in and mentally prepping for a run at lunch time. Out of all the tri events, running is definitely my weakest. I train and train and see very little results. Its discouraging at times, but I keep at it. If nothing else, its a great way to break up the work day.

No problems with my nutrition in the last few days, although I woke up hungry this morning. That's never a good way to start the day.

If I get enough time, I'm going to try to get a swim in tonight as well. The nearest pool is 35 miles away, but I need to do it. Probably a light and easy swim since my obliques are sore... maybe work on some form drills. I'm always amazed at how much those help my 100m times.

The melatonin didn't seem to work last night, but I need to give it some time. Like the doctor said, sometimes nothing can make you sleep when your stressed or in a stressful time other than waiting for that stress to resolve.

Be good!

A Day out of the routine...

Wednesday, April 08, 2009

I do not like non "routine" days... I didn't go to work today, so I didn't have my standard 32oz of water in the morning and 32 in the afternoon... no noon time workout and the temptations are great with the fridge within 50 feet at any given time...

HOWEVER! I did well... took the dogs to the vet this morning, went to the doctor myself this afternoon and had the house appraised to be refinanced.

I did my strength training, but I'm having difficulties finding the motivation for the cardio side of things. The bike trainer sits right in front of me... and all I would ahve to do is move from the recliner to the bike, but I feel completely wiped right now.

I discussed that with the doctor today. She said to try melatonin to reset my circadian rhythmns (sleep and wake cycles). I bought some at the local pharmacy. We'll see how that goes. Hopefully, I can get some sleep tonight!

For someone who didn't go to work today, you sure got a LOT done! lol

I'm very much a routine person too, especially with workouts! It's almost like Pavlov. If you schedule your workouts at 1 pm everyday, at 12:30 pm you're already mentally prepping for it. Move the workout to 4 pm and it gets a little crazy.

New beginnings...

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

Although this isn't the beginning of me losing weight, its still a new beginning for my weight loss journey.

I have struggled with my weight my whole adult life. Two years ago, I was where I wanted to be with my health and fitness. I decided to go back to school last year. I graduated in December and realized, I am far from where I once was.

I have had a lot of changes in my life... School, divorce, a new love, etc. all for the positive. Now that everything ELSE in my life is positive, I want my health and fitness to get in the positive column as well!

I feel like I'm doing the right things as far as food and exercise, however, after looking at my nutrition analysis, it looks as though I'm eating too many carbs in a day. After reflecting on my food choices, I can understand that. I think I need to may some easy substitutions that will benefit me in many ways.

The snow that fell today is not motivating me to workout, but I am determined to hit the bike trainer when I get home!

Be good, be safe.
