Day Two - Fairly Unhappy

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Day two... happy with how I did?? No. Not at all. emoticon

I've come to understand that I am an emotional eater; so when I'm unhappy, overwhelmed, or just plain don't have my head on straight, I tend to not pay attention to what I eat. I'm learning it's not that I overeat... or stuff myself - I simply do not care what I consume at the moment. All of a sudden tracking/thinking/hell, sometimes even choosing healthy foods becomes exhausting. emoticon

I am proud of the fact that I have not given up hope, but worried about this problem. How do I keep control of what I eat, while dealing with the problems, issues, and pressures I'm facing?

Tomorrow is a new day and then I'll begin again - hopefully with a new focus on health and the energy to keep it going. One thing for certain... it's honesty time. I've got to get down to the bottom of what's keeping me on the bottom. If I don't, I'll never reach my goals.

With hope,

It is good that you are learning. For me, I just have to keep most all that stuff out of the house. We go out on special ocassions and all, but in my day to day food, it is just not an option. I have healthy choices ready to go on a moment of weakness.

It does get easier. Pretty soon you don't even want it anymore.

Thanks for sharing!

It won't be easy, but you can break the cycle! I do believe there are some emotional eating teams here that you can join that might prove to be helpful!

I can empathize. That was exactly my issue during my first semester here at college...I actually stopped tracking my intake altogether, and that was bad news!

However, the first step to addressing your problem is admitting that you have one. You seem aware of your personal complications, and that is important in your efforts to change. Emotional eating is so common, but you can fight it!

For me personally, I minimize the amount of food I have readily available in my dorm. That way, even when I am on an emotional roller-coaster, all I have is a little bit of healthy food - and sometimes, since I don't really "crave" the healthy foods, it reminds me that I'm not actually hungry...just stressed!

Good luck with your goals. Tomorrow IS a new day - make it a great one! :)

It takes a lot of practice to break the bad habits of emotional eating and start new, healthier habits. It takes time, but cancan be done. emoticon

Day one!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Well...

Today is day one. The first day on a journey to discover the "self" I know is there, but I've never had the pleasure of meeting. I'm nervous about this and a little concerned that I am taking my battle to the public, but it only solidifies my resolve to reach my goal.

I have a long way to go - lots to do; but for now, I will focus on the small things. Drink your water, move your body, make better/smarter food choices. I cannot say I'll do all the right things right away, but making one small step at a time will lead me there.

Day one had me in a strange and unfamiliar place - let's see what's next on the journey to fitness and health.

With love always,
