Question

Saturday, August 23, 2014

Does anyone know what happened to BOBCATGIRL76? She just finished her Whole30 and interviewed for a new job and has a wedding in couple of months. I follow her blogs and have not seen any and when I try to go to her Spark page there is no sign of her being here. Does anyone know? Thanks!

She made her page private while the background check is being performed for her new job. She says she will return to public mode shortly

My guess is that she accomplished her goal and a new job and, especially, a new husband will be taking a lot of her time.

Layman's Ten Commandments

Monday, April 28, 2014

1 - Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout the journey.

2 - So why is a car's WINDSHIELD so large and the Rear View Mirror so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3 - Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes a few minutes to burn, but it takes years to write.

4 - All things in life are temporary. If they're going well, enjoy them... they will not last forever. If they're going wrong, don't worry... they can't last long either.

5 - Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6 - Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, friend, it's just a bend, not the end!"

7 - When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8 - A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied, "Yes, losing your vision!"

9 - When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10 - WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES... it takes away today's PEACE.

LIFE

Monday, April 07, 2014

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is life, fight for it.

I disagree with ThinkFit .... there is much to be said for fighting for that which has value.

What a beautiful message ~ thanks so much for sharing this.

I'm OK with most of these lines, except the one that says "fight for it". The moment you start fighting with, for, against is the moment you lose.

Irish Soda Bread recipe

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

IRISH SODA BREAD

4 Cups of unbleached flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon double-acting baking powder
teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cups dark seedless raisins
2 eggs
1 cup butter milk

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease well a 1 quart round casserole and coat with flour. (or 2 smaller bowls)

In a large bowl with fork or spoon mix flour and next 4 ingredients. With pastry blender cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add raisins.

In cup with fork, beat eggs slightly; remove 1 tablespoon and reserve. Stir butter milk and remaining egg into flour mixture just until flour is moistened. Dough will be sticky. Turn dough onto a well-floured surface; with floured hands, knead to mix thoroughly. Shape dough into a ball; place in casserole. In center of ball, with a sharp knife, cut a 4-inch cross about inch deep. Brush dough with reserved egg. If you have a Kitchen Aid mixer this will make this part much easier.

Bake bread 1 hour and 10 minutes; check with toothpick to make sure the dough is done; remove from casserole and cool completely on rack. Makes one loaf. If you use 2 bowls the time is about 1 hour.

Note: I usually make two loaves at one time. I measure all the ingredients for both and then I proceed to mix them.

LOVE HAVING THIS RECIPE. WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND WENT TO IRELAND SHE BROUGHT ME BACK A BAG. BUT I REALLY WANTED A RECIPE, IT'LL LAST LONGER. THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT IF YOU LIVED WHERE THEY DO, WHAT YOU HAD TO DEAL WITH IN GROWING CROPS, THEY WERE LIMITED. SO THEY TOOK A GRAIN, AND MADE IT A DESERT. I THINK THAT'S PRETTY SMART.
