Observation on calories in

Something unexpected seems to have occurred.
(Knock on wood.)
Last year on Spark my challenge was to keep my calorie intake under 2k/day. I found this very difficult and I rarely acheived it. However, as I lost weight I stopped tracking regularly. I took the holidays "off" and didn't really think too hard about my food - although I did make an effort to eat mindfully.
This year I started over and I'm tracking every day again. The interesting part is that I'm consistently hitting 1700-1900 calories/day, without really trying. The only time (it's only been a week of course) that I've gone over 2k was a day of peanut butter and birthday cake.
The other thing about this is that there were two days in there where I felt I stuffed myself and I was sure I was way over. However it seems that I almost naturally compensate for the overeating by cutting way back later in the day. On the day I ate 3 breakfasts I ate no lunch and a light and healthy dinner. And I wasn't hungry in between.
so, yay!!

    Nice :) Its a nice feeling when you see the calorie range and what you've eaten and they arn't obsenely off.

Journaling as motivation

As part of Fastbreak, I picked keeping a journal as the motivation habit to work on. So here I am.

Right now I am sad. My favorite SP blogger has disappeared, sparkpage and all. Wherever you are Terrie, I hope you are doing well, unstoppable in your quest for health and humor in life. What you achieved in your short time here inspired me and others to continue in our journey, even when the goal was out of sight. Good luck to you.

We'll call that an entry. After all, I do have WORK I'm supposed to be doing. ;)

  


Starting over

New year, new you.

I lost about 20lbs last year. My doc said to lose 10-15 more, and to take 6 months to do it. The new year seems like a good time to get started, so here I am. I'm starting over at Stage 1: Fastbreak, with new goals, new trackers, and a new commitment. Here's how it goes:

I weigh between 160-165 on my birthday, June 10.
I am beginning my journey to an Accounting degree powerfully and effectively.
My fitness moves to the next level - possibly to that Beginning Runner's Workshop offered by the local sports shoe store.
I am comfortable with my finances, including budgeting travel.
I get a whole new wardrobe in size 10 for my 34th birthday!

    I started over at Stage 1 yesterday. Like you, I lost about 20 last year and want to lose about 10 more.

Going back through the process of logging food and exercise, reading the motivational emails and posting every day will help us.

I printed out the January calendar and I'm going to use that to keep me motivated, too.

My other goal, to help get myself back in the SP groove, is to set a goal of 50 sparkpoints a day. My rationale is that if I do that, I'll be doing the stuff I need to do for the self-discipline and social support.

Way to go!!! If you lost 20 last year, you know you'll knock that last 10-15 off in 2008!!! You've got the tools and about a million cheerleaders here on SP!!!
