Back again, time for a second chance...

Thursday, September 19, 2013

I'm back again... the same weight I was at this time last year, with the same goal in mind... except kind of different.
Since last year, I moved to the great state of Washington and my sister is also engaged! I met a really wonderful man up here and I'd like to be the best I can be for him, and I'd also like to look like a star at my sisters wedding (without looking better than her, of course) which he is also my date for that.
I want to be 2 dress sizes smaller and lose about 30-40 pounds in 5 months (those may be weird numbers but that's what I'm going for)
I just need my motivation back! I've been stuck in such a slump after my sons father has put me down so often... I've really lost a sense of self worth and I'm looking to get it back again, especially after meeting someone like Bret. Even if it doesn't work out, he has showed me that there are perfectly nice, kind, funny, smart, handsome men that think I'm worth something and that's a big change for me. emoticon

Sounds like a lot of change in a year. Congrats on getting back here and putting a spotlight on yourself and your own goals. As long as you spend some time each morning thinking about future you and where you want to be in 5 months, it shouldn't be too hard to meet those goals by making healthy choices!

Sounds like things are going good for you. but remember, its healthier to want it FOR YOU - at some point, maybe not even right away

First Day of the Rest of My Life

Monday, October 08, 2012

This is it! My diet starts back up again today! My sons fathers birthday was yesterday so of course we went out to eat with his family, which my diet didn't appreciate. However, it was a good time with some good food so I'll let that one slide. My "no drinking for 2 weeks at a time" starts today. I'm only 22, so that's what most people my age are doing when I get a chance to go out. I've been keeping up with my exercise, and now I just need to start tracking my food religiuosly like I was doing in the beginning. Healthy choices, healthy choices, healthy choices.
If I repeat it enough in my head, I'm hoping it'll stick.

Gettin' My Head in the Game

Saturday, October 06, 2012

The past couple weeks have been hectic at work and in life in general, so my mind hasn't totally been preoccupied with my weight loss, like it should be. People don't realize how hard this can be! I've lost 7 pounds already though, which I'm proud of, and I don't want to stop there so I need to get back in focus and concentrate on my lifestyle change. I'd also like to quit smoking, for my son and my life altogether. We've been buying a lot of fruits and vegetable lately so that's a good change but other than that I kind of fell of the bandwagon.
All I need is a U-turn!!

Bummed...

Thursday, September 27, 2012

It's the end of the month so rent and all the other exciting bills are due so that leaves me with no money to buy food or go to the gym. It sucks when healthy food is so much more expensive than the unhealthy food. I've been trying to find ways around it but for now I'm doing my best. I really need to get a budget or something started so I can see where all my darn money goes every month! Maybe next month will be a little more organized? I'll just go with that.

Many years ago I learnt the value of having a budget. I started by writing down every single penny I spent. Very quickly a pattern emerged. I was totally surprised at some of my expenditure. As our life circumstances change, so do our priorities, so every so often, I go through the same exercise again to make sure I'm making the best use of my income. I also find it helps to spread my bills over the month.

Over the years, I've picked up many economising tips too that help me cut down on bills. I wonder what it would be like, not to have to worry about it. I agree with you about how frustrating it is that healthy food is often more expensive. Any way, good luck with your budgeting.

If that's your son in the picture please don't tell me he's going to go without food. Have you considered a food bank? I'm sure there are some in your area. Also, there are some things you can buy that don't cost a lot. Brown rice, beans, peanut butter, whole grain bread, dry milk, frozen vegetables. Just think of whole foods instead of a bunch of processed stuff. There are tons of healthy foods you can purchase.

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

I am retired and don't get the amount of money I got when I was working. It is very tough to meet my bills AND be able to eat. My only fun is going to a movie once a month. Other than that, I exercise at home, walk the dogs and fortunately I have enough exercise equipment at home to work out on.

Woot Woot!

Saturday, September 22, 2012

I got off work a little early yesterday which was a little unexpected so I used some of my (secretly) extra time to go work out. Since I had a few hours to spare I did a test day to see how hard I could push myself. I drank a 5 hr energy and went to the gym and surprisingly enough I did two 13-minute miles! When I pulled into the parking lot I said to myself, "let's try and do a 14 minute mile", but I went farther than I expected to go! I also did some intense strength training after and I felt great (a little sore) when I got home. I ALSO lost 1.5 more pounds! That makes 50 pounds total weight loss since I've had my son and 14 pounds total since I started this current diet.
