My Goals Became a Struggle

Thursday, May 02, 2013

Hi Everyone,
I do not know if there is any of you out there who is going through what I am going through. When I started to actively lose weight , my starting point was over 234 lbs. Between different work out spurs and dieting , I went down to 215 lbs. That was the lowest I have been in years. That is a total of 19 lbs. I know some of you will think wow that is a great deal and I know somewhat it is but considering I could not stick to it, I am back at 226 lbs. In the meantime, I quit smoking - this was the plus side of things which I am very happy about.

I have been working on new paintings, exploring options of digital works as well - which is a lot of fun - I have been creating a lot of new pieces as well. I posted a digital rework of one of my newer paintings.

The last diet I tried was the Atkins Diet (It worked but it did not work) Let me explain - For 3 weeks I followed it like crazy with minimum workouts as the diet suggests for beginners. I lost about 6 lbs and then I quit one way or the other because this kind of eating was causing me to cook twice 3 times a day - not very easy - the first week of giving up on this diet I gained 4 lbs - and then I gained another 4 lbs the following weeks. So this one is crossed out of my list.

My biggest excuse/ issue is that I am a very picky eater and I hate to cook for myself. There are times I just skip meals on a daily basis because I do not feel like eating etc. After quitting smoking it changed a bit since I am not just relying on a great cup of coffee in the mornings anymore. However , I have not had any energy to work out at all in the past few weeks

Thank you for reading my rant, I am starting slow this time and see how everything goes - If you have advice on what is a great diet for someone very picky please share because I am truly struggling with all of these diets out there :(

Good luck to everyone with their goals!

    Hi everyone :)
Thank you so much for your support :)
Eternal_Flame - Good luck with your journey as well - I will try my best to look at things as a life change , hopefully it will help with my goals
Matschi - In spite of hating to cook for my self, I can cook very well and I do incorporate a lot of different gourmet recipes together, and I love to cook International recipes as well however when its just for me eh.. I don't take the time I settle for whatever is around or don't eat at all - leftovers are great (I need to make more at a time) - Thank you for the best wishes, best wishes to you as well
Macsmooth - I definitely need to try new recipes, I keep finding some great sounding recipes and I always end up saying oh I will try to make that later
I need to make food in bulk and freeze as well I think to help with the kitchen time
Quitting smoking was very challenging but I am doing okay :) Thank you for your encouraging words

I agree with ETERNAL_FLAME, you have to quit "dieting", cause the vast majority of the time when you quit the diet, you gain all the weight back. You want something that you'll be able to maintain.

I'm a very picky eater as well and while I don't dislike cooking, I don't have a lot of free time to cook during the week. So I pick one or two days out of the week (usually Sunday and Wednesday) to cook for the week. I cook big batches of the foods that I like and freeze them for later. I also try to experiment with new recipes at least a couple times a month so I can try to increase the variety of food I eat.

Just take your time and don't give up. And congrats on quitting smoking, that's a huge accomplishment!

This may or may not be good advice, but why don't you write a list of all the foods you do like to eat, or that are at least tolerable. You may be amazed that there are plenty of things you can incorporate in some healthy meals.

In terms of not liking to cook for yourself, can you handle left-overs? I know they are not for everyone, but many meals are okay the second time around.

Best wishes for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I would say that you should forget about "diets". The whole thinking behind SP is that it is a lifestyle change. You need to be able to sustain it for the rest of your life :)

I am just starting on my journey and I am taking very small steps too. I think it is the only way that I will succeed. I would suggest trying the Fast Break goals for a fortnight and then working from there. It is about learning to take on new habits, rather than punishing yourself by completely removing things from your life.

Good luck on your journey :) E_F x

Questions About Atkins Diet

Monday, February 04, 2013

Hello to my Sparkpeeps :)
I know that I have not posted for a while (again) , but it has been pretty hectic on my end just like any other time I disappear. I have been bad, have not worked out in weeks and I came to the conclusion that I need more daily motivation to keep up with my workout and I definitely need a solid diet plan. Lately, I have been hearing a lot about the Atkins Diet. I see results with other people so I am thinking about starting this diet. I believe it is going to be better to have a sort of a diet plan rather than no diet plan.
What are my Sparkpeeps thinking about this, that is the question I have for today!

P.S. Here is a newly created/listed bookmark :)

Sorry for my very late response, I tried the Atkins Diet , 3 weeks (did not cheat or anything but life got in the way for not being able to make special meals and etc) - I lost about 6 -8 lbs and some inches however - after quitting it for couple of weeks gained 6 + lbs and inches - it did not work for me :(
I am glad it worked for you :)

Good luck! I am following Atkins. For me it's not a "diet" its a lifestyle change. I have PCOS which makes me insulin resistant. In order for me to lose weight my dietitian put me on a low-carb diet, much like the diabetic diet. I decided to experiment and cut even more carbs. I don't eat bad, junky, dense nutrition carbs , sugar, wheat, things like that. I have been doing in since Jan 1 and I have never felt better. I have been battling the same 10lbs for 2 years. I finally dropped those 10 and I haven't gone back. I have been looking at Primal and Paleo to help me even more. One step at a time but I am convinced that low-carb is the way to go for me. emoticon

Long Time No Post

Hi my dear Sparkpeople friends :)
I know that I disappeared again for a while. I kind of fell off the wagon, I did not work out, I did not watch what I was eating and I did not post anything on here and more. I started my diet/ getting healthy regimen this past Monday. I feel great for now. I worked out everyday since.
I have not posted any artwork either so here is one for the gold lovers :)
I miss talking to everybody! Happy New Year everyone!!!

Daily Art Post & Progess 10, 11, 12 & 13

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Hi everyone,
I knoww....I disappeared for days at a time again but I have been super busy as usual and did not get a chance to post for days ...
I have been watching what I eat , it seems as though I did not really lose any weight this week - its probably because I have been slacking on exercise in the past 3 days

Question for everyone, Does Sensa really help lose weight?

Art Post - Two sold ATC (ACEO) cards :) Love colors
Two sold one of a kind bookmarks :) Enjoy!

So how is everyone doing this week?

I came to read about the fine print about Sensa - its to curve appetite I do not need that- I need something that will help me eat more and meet my calorie deadlines - today i did pretty good :)
THanks a bunch for the wonderful comments about the bookmarks. I have been working on new ones - I ll post soon

Welcome to sparkpeople. Love the art. As for Sensa based on possible side effects, even though I don't eat a lot of fat, I'm not risking it. I'll keep plugging along on my own, good luck.
