Status Update

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Things have been busy this month. I decided to move to wyoming, and in with my mom instead of staying in utah with dad. Done a couple trips already, which each trip requires over 7 hours of driving, one way. This has cut back on my writing a little.

1. Finish Ephram's Defiance by August 28th, need to write around 5,000 words.
In Progress - I finished chapter 17 and started chapter 18. Have over 19,000 words at the moment. I can make this goal for sure.

2. Write 20,000 words on Blood Prophesy
Not even close. I have less than 2,000 words written so far. Need to really focus on this in september for sure and at least try to get 5,000 words written this month.

3. Write at least 15 freelance articles.
In progress. Might not get 15 but still have more than last month. Have written 3 so far.

4. Complete Poetry Challenge - Form A Day
Done. Ended up with 33 poems since i started a day early and had one day where I wrote 2 poems. Now am gonna do a bunch of short forms in the same book.

5. Set-up NaNoWriMo+ Group (for those that want to write 50k but not on a brand new project)
Am planning to do this soon. It's easy. Need to find someone to do the banner for it and make sure I like the name. The group set up will be easy. Then I have to promote it and get members.

Things are busy but going pretty well this month.

Writing Goals - August 2009

Sunday, August 02, 2009

Since it is a new month, and the last one of "summer", I thought it would be good to list writing goals for the month. So, here are my specific goals:

1. Finish Ephram's Defiance by August 28th, need to write around 5,000 words.

2. Write 20,000 words on Blood Prophesy

3. Write at least 15 freelance articles.

4. Complete Poetry Challenge - Form A Day

5. Set-up NaNoWriMo+ Group (for those that want to write 50k but not on a brand new project)

I think that is all for this month. Will do other writing on the side, since I can't focus on one or two projects at a time.

the lecture

Friday, July 24, 2009

I am sick and tired of dad's lecture. The chatting this afternoon started out fine. He gave his little discussion about his opinions on why I haven't lost the weight that I wanted to. Then he went into the "you need a job". I am tired of hearing it. I know I need a job. I'm trying to get a job, but it's not easy.

I want a job so I don't have to live here anymore. It makes me want to cry, cause I'm very emotional.

Im sorry you have to go through this. I can't really give valid advice because I have never been through it. But what Duckey said seems to be accurate...i think you should let your dad know how you feel when he comes to you like he does. Let him know that you are trying and that you don't need the extra stress at this point in your life.

emoticonliving with parents can be very stressful...just understand that he does love you and is just as frustrated as you are that you don't have a job. He's just venting and not realizing that his "helpful" advice is giving negative reactions...just try and stay focused and something will come.

I have come to the conclusion that 200-205 is a hard spot for me. This is from past experience. Last time I was just doing spark people I got down to 202 before going to debate camp. I stayed at 202 for a while then the bad eating habits changed that and I stopped weighing in.

I made it down to 202 again. Then went home to visit my mom and the week after returning I didn't do any exercise. I gained three lbs again making it back at 205.

Now I'm on the way down again. Almost at 202 and hopefully this time I'll make it under 200.

You will this time because you see your point of error now, since you are more aware you should pull through.

You can do it !! When I'm at a plateau, I eat nothing but raw foods (fruits/veggies/nuts) for 2-3 days. It gets me over the plateau and ready to continue the descent! :)

Goals mid year

Monday, June 29, 2009

With June closing it is a good time to look at those goals and re-evaluate if needed.

My writing goals for 2009:
1. Finish writing Ephram's Defiance. Then edit and rewrite. - I haven't finished yet. But I did get back to writing it. I have chapter 15 done.

2. Finish and do second draft of Hellenic Distractions. - First draft is finished. Second draft is almost started with my decision to cut the prologue.

3. Write horror and sci-fi short stories. - I have done a few horror-like stories for contests. Am working on a supernatural one from the prompt "if you woke up in a grimm's fairy tale".

4. Submit something for publication. (one short story at least) - Over 2 months ago I submitted "So I Said To My Shrink" to the Orson Scott Card Medicine Show magazine. It's my first sci-fi short story about an alien talking to a human therapist.

5.Write another children's story. - I wrote a couple first drafts during a picture book writing week. Sent one to my mom for Mothers' Day.

6.Get focused on ideas and maybe not think of too many more (have 43 already) - as if I could really stop myself from thinking of two many. My "focus" is on 4 novels right now. Some think that is too many. lol

7. Write hero novel. - Chapter one is done. Nothing else. Want to finish the teen first draft first. Then this one.

If I have time, maybe write A Cinder Tale. - This one is a no go. I have decided to write a witch/vampish tale right now instead since it's one of my few ideas that has a female main character. I am writing chapter two of Blood Prophesy now.

Wow.... I feel accomplished. This past month felt very down about writing because for most of it I wrote zero fiction. And yet I have worked on my goals this year and from the looks of it, doing much better than I ever expected.

WOW! I see that you love to write...I dabble in fanfiction for LKH books and odd and ends stuff. I would really like to read some of your stuff sometime, do you have it posted anywhere?
