I've been raised to be a member of the clean plate club. Nobody in my family left food on their plate, plain and simple. If the food is good, you eat all of it. If the food is okay, you eat all of it. If you're not finishing something, there's something wrong with it.
My parents kind of reformed their eating habits over the years, but the CPC still holds at my house -- we just get smaller servings now! I do that at home as well. When I make myself dinner, I eat all of it, but I don't make big portions to begin with.
I went out to eat with my boyfriend twice last weekend. Cleaned the plate both times. But I was so full afterward for one of the times! Unpleasantly so! I willfully kept on eating after I knew I was full. To enjoy my food while out, I guess I have to learn to be aware of when I'm full, and stop then, to avoid after-dinner discomfort wrecking a great meal.
