I am about to finish Week 6 of P90X.
I have lost THREE POUNDS. That is it. I am workout out every day (except Sundays), sticking to 1,600-1,800 calories per day... and I have only lost THREE POUNDS. What's worse, is that I've told just about everyone I know that I'm doing P90X, and I get so embarrassed when I see them and I don't look any different! I have a teensy, teensy bit more muscle in my arms, but they're so covered with fat that no one else can see it.
This is so stinkin' unfair. I am so sick of being FAT. I have lost a total of six pounds in the last 6 months!
I'm so tired of people saying "Maybe you're gaining muscle, because muscle weighs more than fat." Bullcrap. (A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, by the way- muscle is just more compact). I'm 177 lbs. I've got 30+ lbs of FAT I need to lose. That scale has got to start dropping at some point, because I cannot replace all this extra fat with muscle- it's impossible and I would look absolutely disgusting if I did anyway. I have not lost any inches, and I have not lost any body fat, according to the body fat calipers I got with my P90X.
I haven't gotten any stronger either... I have not moved on to heavier weights than what I started with, and I can now do ONE toe push-up instead of the dozen I could do BEFORE I started P90X. Weird, huh?
My birthday is 1 month and 18 days from now. I started with the goal of losing 20-25 lbs by my birthday. That isn't going to happen.
Wow, I can't believe how bad of a mood I am in today. It's been a rough week... had a falling-out with my husband's family after I found out they were saying all kinds of horrible things about me, and now they don't know why I don't want to have anything to do with them.

May 6th marked the one-year anniversary of when I started my weight-loss journey. I am down 60 lbs and 4 sizes.
I did not lose as much as I would have liked to. Actually, I haven't lost anything in the last month because I haven't been as gung-ho as I should have been. But, I've averaged slightly over a pound a week over the course of a year (some months losing 10 lbs, and some months losing nothing!)

I am feeling a bit nervous. I'm on Week 5 of Couch to 5K... the workout I was scheduled to do today was the 20-minute run, but I opted for a 35-minute walk (at 4 mph) and tomorrow I will simply run for as long as I can. I am hoping to run for at least half of the race. I'll be happy to do the 5K in less than 40 minutes.
I bought myself a good-luck charm recently and I'll be wearing it tomorrow as well. I have a good friend here in my Texas town, a Maori immigrant from New Zealand, who has inspired me a lot. So I ordered a Maori carved bone pendant, LOL...

I'm finally taking the big step! I'll be running my first-ever 5K on May 1st!!
Last fall (during Sept/Oct) I was doing the Couch to 5K program. Somewhere around week 6 I sort of fell off the bandwagon... I couldn't finish week 6 (too tough for me) and then I went on vacation, blah blah blah. Never made it to my goal of running 30 minutes. Actually, I scarcely exercised at all during the last half of November and all of December!!
Now, for the past month or so I've been on the treadmill almost every day, doing walk/run intervals for an hour. Mostly I've been running for 1-2 minutes (whatever I have the energy to do) and walking for 3-4 minutes, whatever would make up a 5-minute interval. I was walking at 3.7 mph and running at 6 mph. This week I decided I would start the Couch to 5K program again. I started off walking at 3.8 mph and running at 5.5 mph... and I found it quite do-able! (I had been running at 6 mph when I did C25K last fall, I think it was a bit too fast for me). So I did that workout on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday I took a 'light' day (walking at a brisk pace for 20 minutes) and today I started the Week 2 workout. It was supposed to be six intervals of 90 seconds running/2 minutes walking, but at the end of it I ran another two intervals. So... I think I'll do that workout again tomorrow and Saturday if I can manage it, and then this next week I'll give a shot at Week 3. That means I'll be finishing up Week 6 when it's time for me to run the 5K on May 1st. That should be a 25-minute run (or slightly over 2 miles at my 5.5 mph pace). Maybe I can push myself and run 2.5 miles and walk the rest. :) My goal is to do it in less than 35 minutes, if I can!!
There aren't very many 5K's in Texas during the summer... understandably. There's one in a town about an hour from here on Memorial Day, and another one in another town in mid-June. I'll look into those. Hopefully by then I can be running the entire 3.1 miles, and be working on increasing my speed.
Oh, I weigh about 20 lbs less now than I did last fall. I think that makes the running a bit easier, too.

This morning I was trying to find something to wear... the weather was supposed to be in the low 70's so I decided to wear something short-sleeve. Everything I pulled out of my closet was a tent! I did find one shirt that wasn't too big (it was actually a little too tight). On a whim I decided to ask my husband to take some photos so I could compare them to my before photos.

I've been losing weight slowly lately, only 1/2 lb to 1 lb a week, but I guess that's a good thing... I've heard many times that it's the slow weight loss that is easier maintained. I wanted to be at a healthy weight by summer (150-ish lbs) but that's not going to happen. Oh well, maybe next year. :)
