I am doing a bit of dog sitting this week for a friend who has gone to Spring Break at Skegness(I think), Casper is a Westie and very friendly. Casper is helping to keep me cheerful as I go out at least 3 times but usually 4.
I have not managed to go to the gym or aqua jog ( I did go last Saturday)this week as don't think Michael would cope very well on is own with Casper. So I do not know if there has been any weight loss this week but I am not worrying about as I no I will get there sooner or later.

    If you are taking Casper out 4 times a day it all counts towards exercise. Sounds like he is doing you some much needed good. Enjoy.

Is it all worth it

It is ages since I was last on here, there is no real reason but Michael has not been to good over the last few weeks, he has been getting up and eating but not really functioning I do my best to cope but it gets to me in the end and today was that day.
We had a bust-up and he told me I was not tidy enough and was not as good as his mum, I of course retaliated (not a good thing to do with someone who is bi-polar and has borderline personality disorder) but could not help myself as I feel so down myself, I am still at the gym and doing the aqua jog but my Weight loss is so slow (only 1 pound in the last 2 weeks), I am tracking my food and I am not over or under eating. I'm just not sure it is all worth it.

    You are wonderful - An inspiration - you should carry on because you can. The activity is doing you good and will help you cope with all you have on your plate!

It doesn't matter how slow the weight loss is, it just matters that you look after you. In order to be able to look after our families we need to recharge ourselves, fuel the engine with good food, build ourselves up physically with exercise and help ourselves mentally with work rest and play!

Often we forget how much we do and we achieve we just look at the stuff we have not done! To me it sounds as if you have a lot to do, a lot of demands on your time and some big fat rocks thrown in your path. To motivate yourself to exercise and log your food aswell is amazing hun what an achievement emoticon

    I lost my weight pretty slowly and there were a lot of weeks when I didn't lose anything. But I've reached my target weight and it is *so* worth it emoticon I look and feel way better, I'm so glad I kept going and I'm not having trouble keeping the weight off either. Slow is good!

    Now come on Elaineanne, you are just feeling a bit low at the moment & you know that this feeling will pass & you will bounce back, you always do. I'm sorry Michael is being so difficult, do his meds need changing again?
As for your weight loss, my love there are loads of people on here, me included who would be 'cock-a-hoop' to be losing 1lb every two weeks. My scales keep going the wrong way.

    Don't give up! It is sooooooooooooooo worth it. Talking about slow-I went to the doctor at the end of October. Yesterday I went back and the nurse said WOW-you have lost 11 pounds. She wanted to know what I was doing and of course I told her about SparkPeople. The doctor also wanted to know what I was doing and again, I gave my SparkPeople talk. Some people would be upset that it took them almost 6 months to drop 11 pounds but not me. I look at it this way-when I go back if I have lost another 11 pounds that will be 22 pounds!!!!! Keep on Sparking-you will not be sorry! Spark On! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Losing in a slow manner is actually better for you. People who lose weight quickly have a tendency to gain the weight back. I know it seems like a snail pace for you, but hang in there. emoticon

    Stick with it. You can't control Michael but you can control what you do for yourself and being healthy will help you cope with the ups and downs you go through with Michael. Do this for yourself and it will pay off in the long run. You are the pitcher of water and the glasses you fill are your family and friends. If you don't refill (take care of yourself) you can no longer fill the glasses of your loved ones (help them).Wishing you all the best!

Dog Sitting

I am going to be doing a bit of dog sitting next month, his name is Casper and he is a westie, it is for 5 days.
I weighed myself last Friday and was disappointed to find I had only lost a pound but at least is is the right way.
Bad news is that our bathroom will be out of action for about 3-4 days as we have had a leak which has rotted the floor, it has made it worse because we kept delaying it as because of Michael's problems.
I am sticking to my diet and I am not doing any nibbling at all which was a big problem with me.

    Oh wow! No way I could live without my bathroom!! My whole system is overactive so it gets used often.

Good for you for not nibbling!!! I have the same problem so I make sure my daily list has something I can nibble here and there! Apples, carrots (baby ones) and celery and broccoli raw work for me. As does grabbing a small glass of water. Keep it up.

By the way for motivation look at the profile picture you have and then at the one with the little dog and you will see a HUGE progress!!! You are looking good now!!!

I am still having a good week but not really done much, I have signed up for a one day wet felting course which is not until June and I am going to a concert(it is called Last Night of the Proms) Kirkby-in-Ashfield style) so that should be good.
I have not weighed myself this week so hopefully I have done OK, I did go to aqua jog and the gym on Monday and for a walk on Tuesday, tomorrow I am going to Derby for a forum meeting and Saturday is the vampires(blood donation).

Busy Week

It has been a busy week. Sunday we went to Peterborough for the day and we decided to go over to Stamford to collect a clock we had reserved at Argos but this was a mistake as we went on a 20 mile diversion for a 500 yard road closure, we did not really know the area very well but coming back we managed to shorten this to about 4 miles.
I went to aqua jog and the gym on Monday but decided not to weigh myself, I have now put all my diet and WW stuff on to a spreadsheet so it is now much easier to keep track of what I am eating.
Went to MIND yesterday with Michael and also to a new Morrisons in Kirkby-in Ashfield and had a look around the charity shops, I have been to my art group this morning(think we have more knitters than artists now) I am doing a rug hooked cushion which I hope to finish in the next couple of weeks.
We are also looking into getting a dog, I know one would help me but Michael is not so sure.

    Before committing to owning a dog why not think about dog sitting for people whilst they are on holiday or maybe fostering might be an option. Have a word with your local shelter.

    Hi Elaine You have had a busy few days Dogs are great for taking for a walk you do not feel so self-consious when out walking with one than when alone they are company the only downside is if you go away on holiday which is why i never replaced my two who i had over 16 yrs.When Fiona lived next door it was ok she took dogs when we were away and i fed the moggy when she was away.Shortly after we lost Goldie .Fi moved away so i never got another one also with Ians job we do not plan time away he could come in at 5pm any day and say 2 days off where do you want to go,visit laterooms and off we go first thing next morning,Hugs Carol
