My weight is not good

Thursday, October 14, 2010

I have not been here for a while as Michael decided to change phone and broadband providers
but as soon as he did he went down for a month and things went wrong and we are still not back on-line.
Michael tablets have been changed and he has now been up for just over two weeks(this is something of a record) he is on his way down at the moment but is trying to stay up so we shall see
As for me I went for my asthma check-up yesterday and all is well and my puff test was the best for 3 years, I saw the doctor a couple of weeks ago as I have been feeling very low recently and my night tablets were increased but had to go back to what they use to be as the made me feel very restless and itchy. The bad thing is that I have put on 14 pounds since June and this has made me feel quite depressed. I have been put forward for prescription exercise which I am still waiting to hear about. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You know when we think all is hopeless, something good will always come out of it. You went to the doctor, got a good puff test. That is good. I know because I suffer from Asthma always. Take pride in that.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you manage to do so much considering the obsticles you have to work around all the time. Congrats on the 'puff' test......see something is good.
Just take care & listen to what the Doctors say.

You've had a lot to deal with these past few months, and not being able to track your nutrition won't have made it any easier, so don't let your weight gain get you down. Your back and can start afresh.

I hope you hear about the prescription exercise soon. It's a great way to get into the exercise habit.

Mum 3

Monday, September 20, 2010

Good news, at last I have managed to get in contact with my mum and would you believe it her phone was out of order and they did not know until her partners daughter went over, I now have to meet up with her sometime soon. I would like to thank all that gave me help and advice especially Suzie Grey

Other news now, I was at the doctors last Thursday and I have been told not to worry too much about my weight but try and get more exercise, she believes that is more important at the moment because of the stress I am under. I am also to see a physiotherapist about my back. emoticon emoticon

I'm so glad that you managed to contact your mum and that you found my advice helpful.

Take care of yourself. Start the exercise gradually. Your physiotherapist will probably give you some exercises, but if she doesn't there are some great resources in the Spark fitness centre with exercises at every level. You can always discuss these with the physio or your doctor if you are not sure if they are suitable.

Mum 2

Saturday, September 11, 2010

I said about my mum a couple of weeks ago, well I have still not been able to contact her and this seems very strange to me, it is her 78th birthday today. As she lives about 35 miles away and 3 bus trips( I do not drive) and Michael is unable to take me at the moment I am not sure what to do.
Feeling a bit tired today but I am going to a craft day later. I always make sure that I get my me time as I feel I cannot do anything about Michael and his problems, I have said many times that if we work though the problems together they would not be so bad but he prefers to give up and stay in bed, of couse the problems do not go away they get worse.
I am going to a pamper day next month that has been arranged by the carers forum I go to. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh dear! I DO so hope that she's out on a lark, and having the time of her life...

Did you say that you have had someone check the house to see that she's NOT there?

Do you have a telephone number for one of your mother's neighbours, as they may be able to check on her and come back to you? That would then put your mind at rest. Unfortunately, I don't drive, so can't help you out there.
I hope you enjoy your craft day. It's great that you have the pamper day to look forward to and have the support of the carers forum.
Hope you hear from your Mum soon.

Failing 2

Thursday, September 09, 2010

I should say that I meant 6 pounds in a month not a week, sorry for confusion. I am just feeling so low at the moment. I get lonely at night ( Michael never gets up when he is like this) and I do not like to bother my friends as they all seem to have there own problems,I do try to keep busy but it is not easy.
I believe that if I do not lose this extra weight soon I will have some serious health problems, it is not as much as some people but is it is creeping up all the time. I told my GP about this last time I saw her and she told me not to worry as I have enough other problems but this seems to have made me feel worse. I cannot walk as far as I use to because of sciatica problems, I do try to keep to a routine in the daytime and try to go out at least twice.
The extra weight also affects my asthma which can make it difficult walking upthe hills around here. emoticon emoticon

I have the same hip and asthma problems, in addition I have bad knees, but I have discovered that going to water aerobics doesn't hurt any of my 'hurts' and I get a shot of my inhaler before I go to help.

I am a 55 years young, divorced, empty-nester and I've found that actively doing something about my weight JUST FOR ME! has helped my attitude. I was depressed and tired all the time and kept saying to myself that if I could just loose all this weight, I'd probably feel better.

WELL, I haven't lost all this weight yet, but I feel better because I'm actively working on it. When I fall off the wagon on my eating or exercise, I pick myself up and start again THE SAME DAY! lol

I hope our SP friends all rally around you to let you know we all care about you (ups and downs) and that YOU making your goals matters to us all! Remember above all that God cares and he knows what you're going through, you can always lean on Him when there seems to be nobody else around! He doesn't care if you rail and cry, even if you can only do it silently to HIM.

HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND MAY GOD GIVE YOU PEACE. emoticon

So sorry to hear of your troubles. Is your sciatica relieved at all by stretching? I didn't have a bad case, but that seemed to help some when it was painful to walk. I know it can be difficult to live with someone who has bipolar disorder, which from your description I assume your husband has. My son, who is in my profile picture with me, suffers from BPD, and when he is down, he either sleeps all the time or is angry. It's hard to like him when he's that way, even though I love him.

Please try not to take it personally, as they really can't help it. Your friends here on SP are here for you, so come and interact with us.

Feel better. Perhaps you can get some 'you' time while Michael is down. or, does he need your assistance when down?

I am struggling so much at the moment that nothing seems worth it. Last week I put down to lose 6 pounds on one of the craft teams goals and I really thought I could do it. It is all down to Michael and his moods, he had two great weeks when he was up and we did some great things and I even enjoyed my birthday but now it seems as if just giving up is the best thing. Last night was very bad. emoticon I am running out of time for now.

Hey to lose 6lb would be a heck of a stretch & you would have to be extremely drastic with your food. If you look on the site you will find that the best to aim for is 1 to 2lbs per week otherwise you put it all back on & then some.
I'm sorry that Michael is down again and it's easy for me to say please try to keep yourself well & less stressed.

Sorry your feeling so low. 6lb is a lot to aim for in one week, so please don't beat yourself up about it. It's taken me ages to lose 6lb. Keep plugging away and slowly but surely you will get there. As PETAL65 says, we have to learn to let go those things we can do nothing about.

Life's difficult....sometimes those difficulties are in the front seat, sometimes in the back seat and sometimes when we're really lucky they're riding in the trunk, where they can't be seen.
For me it's a matter of deciding what I can and can't do about things.
Can I fix a particular problem my husband or child is dealing with, if yes then I help...if not then I have to say to myself 'Well there's nothing I can do, so I'll have to let it go'
As to weight loss, well that is something we can do something about...it's all in the way we accept responsibility.
Sometimes it's fun to exercise sometimes it's draining...
sometime's it's easier to have that cookie but ALWAYS we feel badly about it (unless you plan for it and push yourself 5 extra minutes to make up for the caloric intake)
You'll come through this....concentrate on the positive and leave the rest behind!
Best of Luck
Jenn
