Positive thoughts

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I was just getting ready to type up a bunch of whining about my job, here. But No. Delete, delete, delete. Why weigh myself down with negativity? I could say I was "getting it out of my system," but I could also say it's planting it IN my system, just by acknowledging it. So, No.

Here are five positive things instead:

1. I am learning to make better meal choices and to have reasonable portions.

2. Today I can be productive (because the usual interruptors are away from the office)

3. I will also have the leeway to take a bit longer lunch and get in a workout

4. I have hired a contractor -- a task that I had dreaded, from making the first phone inquiry (I hate having phone tasks). It's done, he's coming next week to do the work.

5. My husband and kids love me and that's all I really need to know!

(and one more... I weighed in a little bit down today at 144.2! Progress!)

Hope you have some positive thoughts to get you through today, too!

Great attitude. Thanks for reminding us to keep positive thoughts. Negative thoughts are just that . Negative, and bring us down.

It takes time to train yourself away from negativity. I have a long way to go.

I am also trying hard to focus on being positive instead of negative. I have been reading in the bible and it is really scary what God thinks of people complaining. In judges he let his people die in the dessert instead of getting to the promise land because of their complaining. I don't know about you but I want all god has in store for me

It's true, generally, we get the energy we put into the world ~ and ourselves! If we think negatively we tend to focus on the negative things around us. But if we are optimistic we see the hope and joy in the simple things! Not that "bad" things can't happen, but when they do we'll be better prepared to survive them.

I find writing morning pages good - 750 words nonstop uncensored stream of consciousness forget about spelling and grammar.
By the second or third paragraph, things start to magically turn from an outpouring of negative worries and rants, to just good stuff.
Gets rid of the negativity and no one suffers.
Best to do hand-written

When I write a blog about my day, I usually rant and put all my anger in words then delete, delete and delete then I start afresh, share all the good things and just sneak in a sentence or two about my negative parts (enough to please my anger self, haha). It's better to put good things to share with everyone as it will welcome more positive energy and let others feel better instead of add more of our bad issues into their lives even if unintentionally.

So, agree with what you said, "Why weigh myself down with negativity? I could say I was "getting it out of my system," but I could also say it's planting it IN my system, just by acknowledging it. So, No."

stressful day

Friday, March 15, 2013

Okay, normally my work isn't that stressful. So take the rest of this blog post with a grain of salt. BUT:

My computer's not working right...
I had a 2.5 hour meeting that started at 10:30 and I had to go to the bathroom the whole time AND it ended after 12 so I was starved...
And the subject matter was ANNOYING and the person on the other end of the phone was, too...
And I had a whole stupid LIST Of crap I needed to get done today and now it's not going to get done (because of new ASAP action items from the meeting, of course)...
I HATE when people overuse the word "Absolutely."
No one has even started popping their gum yet but I CAN FEEL IT COMING (there's a woman here who does it every afternoon)...
And RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr.

I was just about to rip into a Little Debbie Snack Cakes package but I threw them away and grabbed 28 almonds instead. They are NOT as satisfying as that stupid cake would have been.

I went for a walk.

And YET. I still feel my heart racing because of all this stuff.

I am so glad it is Friday.

ABSOLUTELY! lol- Sorry I couldn't resist! Hope your weekend is going better than your Friday, though you chose the almonds over the cake, so I'd still say it was a win! Way to go on that. :)

Hope your Saturday is happy and stressfree!!

GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK! You managed to get away from the insidious cycle of sugar - that's awesome! I know it's not as satisfying, but if you REALLY need the chocolate, may I suggest the 83% dark cacao bar by Lindt? I dare you to try and eat more than one square - SO RICH (and very satisfying!)

Hooray for Friday!

Finally FRIDAY Free again!. (I have had this song stuck in my head ALL day).

I am so sorry you had a not good day at work. Having to go potty when you can't is the WORST!

I am proud of you for choosing the almonds over the Little Debbie Snack cakes. That takes will power.

Back on track

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

After last week's disappointing weigh-in (gain, gaaahhhrrr), this week it looks like I'm back on track. -Ish. I was 144.4, then up last week, and this week 144.6. Whew. I mean, I wish it was a loss, but it's back on track.
emoticon

But if I'm going to get to goal I'm going to have to up the ante, that's clear.

I'm really proud of turning myself around and making fitness a part of nearly every day, with the 10-min-a-day Challenge - it really helped me. And ten minutes DOES make a difference in how I feel, even if I don't see the pounds decrease on the scale.
emoticon

But I've got to really push to keep the calories in the low range, and add some longer workouts, if I want to see a difference. So here is a kick in my own butt. KICK.
emoticon

YOU HAVE TO SWEAT SOMETIMES to MAKE A CHANGE.

Productive, sort-of, and SKATING!

Monday, March 11, 2013

I laugh in my general direction on Friday, thinking I would accomplish all that. Ha. Hahahahaha! Silly girl.

I did finish Downton Abbey -- #1 priority, of course! Heh. It actually WAS a priority because I needed to edit an article at work that had spoilers! So I couldn't do my work without finishing the series myself. Kinda funny!

I didn't paint any trim, do any big cleaning, or go shopping, and I NOT take any long walks. Boooooo. However, I did something even better: Roller skating! My daughter's friend had a birthday party and it was her first time at the roller rink... but not mine. Ohhh, I remembered the many Saturdays at the roller rink growing up, and even the white skates w/ red & blue laces that I loved so much. I put on a pair of rentals and went around a few laps. Much more slowly than I used to! Would have like to do more but my daughter wanted someone holding her hand, understandably. It was super fun. I would do that every weekend if I could!

I also threw the frisbee a bit outside with my son. He loves doing that, and so do I.

Fun fitness for the win!

Then we had a 3-hour Cub Scout banquet on Sunday, bleh. Mexican food was served. I probably undid all those fun fitness minutes. But it was time with friends and supporting a good cause.

I still love the weekends even when my plans are derailed!

*I can't believe there isn't a skating emoticon?!?

Obviously, a skating emoticon needs to be added to Spark, post haste.

Sounds like such a great weekend of fun activities! I used to love roller skating when I was younger, but these days, I'd probably fall flat on my face as soon as I stood up!

Mexican food...oh MANNNNN - my trick for that is to load up on tons of fajita veggies and lean meat, like chicken, and top with salsa and beans that aren't refried (black beans are usually an option). As long as you keep the rice/tortillas/chips to a minimum, it's still possible to have yummy Mexican and not derail yourself emoticon

TGIF!

Friday, March 08, 2013

Man, this week has seemed long. (As most of them do.... no, really, I AM a happy person...) I am so glad it's Friday. I'm wanting to do a lot this weekend.

1. Finish Downton Abbey! I have 2 DVR'd episodes left. (They're both 2 hours!)

2. Start painting some of the trim in the house. Baseboards first. Won't that be FUN!??

3. Get in a long walk BOTH DAYS. Or a long DVD workout, but the weather's supposed to be gorgeous so fingers crossed, I'll get my butt outside!

4. I'm sure I should say "clean house" too. Boooooo.

5. Read my book!? I don't know when but I'm hopeful.

6. Do some shopping! I am sick of all my clothes and shoes right now. Hopefully spring's on its way to Georgia so that will help, but in that case.... spring! new clothes!

Bah. I know I won't get to do everything on the list. Husband has a different set of plans, I'm sure, and we'll have to compromise some things.

I do love the weekend, though!

Have a great weekend and enjoy your beautiful weather! (Pouring rain in the Phoenix area, but we don't get a lot of rain here so I'm happy we aren't going to dry up and blow away any time soon.)
