Bird Brain Thief

Monday, April 26, 2010

Thank you for stopping by my Blog Page. For those of you who know me this is a little different than my usual but I was prompted by a dear friend to blog about this funny story.
So here goes let me know what you think!

Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs car wash systems. Bill 's company installed a car wash system in Frederick , Md . Now, understand that these are complete systems, including the money changer and money taking machines.

The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week.

He went as far as to accuse Bill 's employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off. Bill just couldn't believe that his people would do that, so they setup a camera to catch the thief in action. Well, they did catch him on film!

That's a bird sitting on the change slot of the machine.

The bird had to go down into the machine, and back up inside to get to the money!

That's three quarters he has in his beak! Another amazing thing is that it was not just one bird -- there were several working together. Once they identified the thieves, they found over$4000 in quarters on the roof of the car wash and more under a nearby tree.

And you thought you heard of everything by now!! !!
And to think the phrase 'bird brain' is associated with being dumb. Not these birds.

I am always amazed when I here someone say that animals are dumb.
I think they are smarter than we give them credit for.
At least I have always given them credit for being too smart for their own good.! LOL

Thanks for entertaining me this morning! This is the funniest thing. I hope the owner apologized for suspecting your husband's employees. He was very likely, though, at his wits end trying to figure it out. We've always heard that a picture was worth 1000 words...now we know it's worth $4,000+!

This was just too funny!

This is an awesome story. Oh Boy, they must like how they shine or the noise they make? What would induce a bird to go all the way into and out of that machine with the quarters? I wish I could figure this out. This really is puzzling me, why are they going after the quarters? There has to be a reason. Four thousands dollars worth of quarters on the roof. What were they doing with the quarters? This is really something for me to ponder on.

Spark Friends

Saturday, April 24, 2010

First and foremost I would like to say thank you for visiting my Blog!
I know that so many of us here on Spark have many friends that we have made along our journey. Some of us are just starting out and some of us have been on spark for several months to some for years. I am still in the month range. MY Spark Anniversary is September 22. So I have a 5 months before I jump to the year range. But in my 7 months here on Spark I have made some pretty fantastic friends along the way. They are what I call my support system, as I hope to support them as well.
I often think wouldn't it be great to take a road trip and start traveling across the USA and meet all of these friends to give each and everyone of them my hugs. And tell them how much they mean to me and my success.
And as I was thinking that through I thought I would need to take a plane or a ship at some point because I have made friends in other countries that I could not drive or get to without getting a little wet.
Wow! my trip is getting pretty long but what a trip it would be.
So, this is for all my Spark Friends I have made and all the friends I will be adding to my list as the pounds disappear and time goes by.
Thank you to each and everyone of you out there in Sparkland.
And who knows maybe we will meet someday and you will get one of those BIG WARM WELCOME HUGS from me!
Until then emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm in Ontario not far from Toronto so very easy to find. Look me up if you are ever in this neck of the woods. I would love to take that trip also. I have met many friends from around the world also.
I have gone to Buffalo and Fort Erie to meet a sparkfriend from Connecticut when she was at a family reunion and wedding on two different occasions.
I have met a sparkfriend from Goderich Ontario and we get together whenever she passses by my neck of the woods to go visit her grandchildren and we can fit it into our schedules.
I have met a sparkfriend from Guelph Ontario it is about 30 min. from me and we only managed to get together once but hopefully will meet again.
I met one sparkfriend and his wife on a team for my area we have planned many get togethers for the team but only 2 have actually happened the first one him and I and our spouses and my 2 grandchildren were the only ones to show up. The 2nd one they had him and his wife and 2 other people show up.
We can all take a virtual tour and visit each other any time we want. So enjoy the journey whether it be a short trip or a long vacation. We can enjoy it with each other. Teri

What does it prove?

Friday, April 16, 2010

First of all I would like to say thank you for stopping by and reading my thoughts.
And there you go these are my thoughts. You can agree or disagree that is your choice.
But, these are my thoughts.

What does it prove when you say cuss words? How does it make you feel? Does it empower you? Why do we let those words out of our mouths? Now I understand that words slip out of our mouth and we can't get it back, we can say sorry but you can't fix it. When I am typing out words I have the choice to fix the words. And I am always fixing my words. I wouldn't want to hurt somebodies feelings on purpose just as I wouldn't want to offend someone with bad words. That is just the way I am. But lately I have read some very offensive Blogs and I wondered how did that get posted? Why didn't it get blocked? I am a leader of a team here on Spark People. And it just so happens I was trying to post some information about a mushroom. The only way I can type it out is by putting a space in the word.
Sh itaki mushrooms. Now that isn't cussing that is a real mushroom that offers real health benefits, but I couldn't post it unless I put that space in there. WHY?
Why is it that someone can post a very offensive blog using offensive language and I can't talk about a mushroom? There is something very wrong with this picture.
Let's try to be aware of what we say and what we type maybe it can be cleaned up so even my grandchildren can read it.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.
You have a great day and a better tomorrow because you can't get it back!

When our leaders (Joe Biden, Rohm Emanual, many others) use horrific language and get a laugh from the national media; it gives you an idea why some people (the followers) use that type of language too. As far as the mushrooms...that's a lack of common sense and a lot of ignorance on the part of someone. We've got too little common sense and too much ignorance in the world today. We can only try to set a good, decent example, but Hollywood and Washington DC reach so many more people with their bad examples. Well, I'm off my soapbox now...LOL Sharon

But, I really do not like the words that come out of my mouth. At least when I am typing I stop and think and do not write the way I sometimes talk. One of my goals is to 'clean up my language'. Why would I let anyone get me into a state to be 'less than' what I want to be?

Way to put your feelings into words, EJ. I love it when people stick to their guns and morals. Sad that people don't have a more useful vocabulary for expressing themselves.

I go to our local skating rink and the kids there talk terrible...the swear words fly and from kids in grammar and middle school...it starts so young these days. Sad. I contribute that to the hard core rap they listen to, the violent games they play, sitting at the computer isolated from social interaction, some of the shows they watch, and the peer pressure to be 'cool'. They need to pull up their pants, get the hair out of their face, learn some respect, and have good clean fun that requires moving like bicycling, playing ball, etc.

That's why you're such a wonderful leader...'cause you're not afraid to speak up when others don't.

Behind you all the way, EJ...Deb emoticon

I totally agree. But, like Jean-Marie I am fortunate to have not encountered those offensive blogs. Some people just don't have a very broad social vocabulary. They lack a wealth of appropriate adjectives to describe the objects they are describing or adjectives to describe the actions they are referring to.

Venting is good. I hope you feel a little better now. It is just so hard for someone as nice as you to understand why people don't think of others when using offensive language emoticon

You point is very well taken. Sparks must have a ban filter program capturing certain words of course not recognizing what you meant. It must be the software the site uses.

In life, it is not unusual to hear this type of language from even school kids. I am sad to say but I do not think it really dawns on some people anymore.

To some it is just a part of their vocabulary!

Sad but true!

What Appeared in Front of my Eyes!

Sunday, April 04, 2010

Picture this:

I am sitting at the counter in my kitchen. Working on the computer with Spark stuff! I am very involved with giving an answer when I look up from the keyboard to see a County Sheriff vehicle driving down our runway. For those of you who don't know me I live on a private airstrip about 1800 feet long. This is for small aircraft.
I look further ahead of the sheriff and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a horse on the runway. I grabbed my coat and a bag of carrots and proceed out the back door towards the runway. Now I see there are 5 sherrif's cars up and down the airstrip. I guess this poor horse was a fugative. And they were bound and determined to get him. But none of the sheriffs had what I had.
The bag of carrots!
They got their horse. Horse got his carrots and I went home to blog about it. No Easter bunny here! LOL

emoticonAmazing what a carrot will catch! Horses are actually very loving and love carrots and apples!
Poor thing was probably scared half to death being chased by cars. Most likely he/she would have come to them if they had been on foot!

Glad you came to the rescue!

Cool story. I love horses. I had two of my own. Mexico, a wild mustang, and Big Red, a quarter horse. Now you are the horse whisperer.

Quick thinking there EJ! I had no clue you live on a runway. Is it still active? We leave near an airport and even the small aircraft can be a big interuption!

Gotta feel sorry for the poor horse, being chased that way. Good thing you were there or those poor policemen would have been at it a lot longer! LOL! Have a great week! emoticon

Ironing Clothes

Saturday, April 03, 2010

First of all I would like to say thank you for stopping by my blog.

This is one job I do not like to do. Although, now that I have said that I don't like to do this job. I Iron all pants, shirts, tops, yes t-shirts get it too! I am one of those people that can't stand to go out in public with wrinkled clothes. I have collected some of the very old time irons that weigh 4+ lbs and you need to set it on a wood stove to heat it. This is just to remind me that my Rowenta Iron isn't all that bad. LOL
My G kids will purposely leave their clothes here so I can wash and iron them. My daughter does not iron much of anything. The kids say the clothes feel like new when I do them. So I get the job. YEA!!!!
At least they appreciate the time it takes for me to iron their clothes.
Well, I better get back to the ironing board, thanks for reading about the chore I'm not crazy about. But I do it anyway!
Happy Easter!

emoticonIf I come visit will you do mine too? emoticon I do love the feel and look of freshly ironed clothes, but sadly I don't have the time!
I remember back in time though, my Mother would iron everything!
I remember the old irons,but I don't have any.
Have a Great Day my friend!

I have maybe 3 things that have to be ironed, and I wear each of them maybe once a year. My mother would iron the sheets & pillowcases etc. Not me, if I can't wash & wear it I don't want it. Glad you like it, but not for me!
Hugs,
WW

Oh my gosh, it reminds me of my childhood. Tuesday, ironing day, all day. Nightmare!! LOL. I will not buy clothes that have to be ironed. EVER.

We all have jobs we don't like, and for me ironing is definitely one of them. When I was a young teen, my mom had me do the ironing. No instruction, just "Iron those clothes." When I did a terrible job, still no help, just disgust and "I guess I'll have to do it myself." UGH!

I don't iron unless it is absolutely necessary. We all have our strange habits or quirks or whatever you want to call it. Thats what makes us all so interesting and unique.

Have a Happy Easter. PJ

When I was young my mom made me do the ironing and I had little burn marks all the time from brushing up against it. Years ago I discovered permanent press and I rarely iron anything any more. But reading your blog I have to admit - there really is something to be said for a nicely pressed shirt.

I iron my clothes for the day first thing in the morning. Hubby and son do their own ironing. Daughter Megan is still resisting though!

When my knees were better, and I could stand to iron, I absolutely loved it! I always did all of my family's ironing from the time I was 12-13 as my mom hated to iron. I don't iron much any more, but sure wish I could!

My grandmother used to do that. She insisted that I and my sisters learn how to iron and I made spending money ironing Air Force uniforms at one time in my life. Today I don't even own an iron.
