    emoticon I love the show because it's funny and informative.
The animations because I can not watch a surgery.
The audience participation games test knowledge of health and nutrition.
I don't have much trust in doctors but Dr Oz puts things simply enough for me to take the info and search it out for myself.
He has been a tremendous help to me on my weight loss journey

3/24/2010 Plan for your streak....

SP allows us to check our streaks. They encourage us to incorporate streaks in our 28 day plan. Duh. I looked at my SP streaks-- post, afterwards. Now I realize I must pre PLAN for my streaks. Do the plan Then I can look and see how I've done. Not just let them happen haphazardly.

For my streak plans in nutrition, fitness, and positive living, I need to have a good attitude and plan to be tough through the time I set for the proposed streak.

* I need to prepare the plan for my streak time period.
*Then I need consistency of action in doing the plan.
*Finally I can use that momentum to extend the time period of the streak if I wish.

First to report I put back on the 3 lbs. I lost, but I am not worried as I know I am on a path to healthy living. Have been doctoring my bronchial funk with 7 up etc. And barely moving. So the pound imps saw me as a great place to land. But I will shoo them away this week.

Now to 3 of the things I have learned and how SP makes me positive even now...+3 now...


1. emoticon I can now eat 1 piece of candy. This is huge. (Much huger than the average size person who straight away diets and loses umpteen pounds and exercises umpteen hours. Those cheerful idols are average and don't know weight in the foxhole struggle. Notice, I call these easy-to-lose people average, not ideal or normal or lucky or skinnytobegin. I am so tired of portrayals of fat people negatively, that I choose to call those not fat as "average". No idol worshiping here.) SP got me to this point by educating me so much on nutrient dense food.

2. emoticon I use a mantra in social situations. I prefer the word "one" from the Harvard studies cited in Woman's World 3/29/2010 that " repeating the same word activated the parasympathetic nervous system." (see article pg.34. Anyhow it helps get through situations where I need to calm down my rush to food. I am trying not to use flight or avoidance of social situations. (and it fools people who wonder why you are sitting or standing there with that silly a-- grin on your face.)....you are smug within yourself saying "one" or "om" or some other meditative word to help you cope. SP got me to this point rereading in The Spark Cornerstone:Fitness, Building Block: Stress Management.

3. emoticon I can do some exercise. I am walking the dog, trying Curves, and reading about other Sparkers running races, etc. and enjoying vicariously. In my recent evaluation at Spark, they suggested I Track my food. My food tracing is ok, the SP Robot is probably confused. 'Cause when I log in my 30 walking, there is no where to deduct my rest of the day sedentary life. See most folks start with active life and add to it. My prob is I start sedentary. Should be a deduct on the Fitness tracker for that as I know I'm not the only one. But Now SP has me doing more and gradually more activity and fitness through the positive influence of other Sparkers who do and write about doing. Thanks Spark Friends.

  What an awesome three steps! Eating just one piece of choclate was huge for me too - as addicted to the stuff as I am. Now I eat one, and am happy. I have a box from several weeks ago I bought right after Valentine's Day that I am eating one piece every day or so. You are so on the right track - keep it up! I'll be looking forward to reading about your other steps!

    Great job! I agree about eating one piece of candy. It is a big deal. There are certain trigger foods (chips, being one) that once I start, I can't stop. So, I'm really proud of you being able to eat just one piece of candy!

    I like your positive attitude. I agree, eating 1 piece of candy is huge! You can be active, it just takes time! You're doing great, those 3 lbs. and more will be gone in a flash. Keep up the great work and great things will come!
