Something Nice for ME!

Saturday, March 05, 2011

I committed to doing something nice for myself this week that I believe will go a long way towards helping me on this journey.

I met with two personal trainers (husband and wife team) who meet with clients in their home. I went for my first session yesterday and felt so comfortable here. There is only likely to be one other person there training at the same time that I am.

It felt so good to have someone totally focused on me and working with me for a solid hour on various exercises and machines. This first session was not too intense and she kept telling me was a "discovery" session where she could observe me and I could begin to get familiar with the various machines and the routine.

They had a bottled water with my name on it waiting for me and a fresh towel.

I loved it! Today I woke with that subtle burn associated with having worked muscles that have not worked in a very long time.

This commitment is going to be expensive, but I realize that I am worth it. If this helps me to move further along this journey, then why would I deprive myself? I may need to give something else up in order to afford this...but I deserve it!

I want this to be a lifestyle change...not just 10 weeks and then I stop! I am 58 years old and the trainer shared with me that at my age, it is tough! I will need to keep this up to have long term results. And she said that seeing the results could take up to 3 months - although I will feel it in my clothing.

I am excited about the weeks ahead and learning and becoming aware and making progress. I will post my results!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Oh I hope you are still having fun with the personal trainers. I just signed up for 10 sessions with a new trainer. We've had a few sort of freebee chat/sessions and I know I'm going to benefit from my workouts.

The trainer is a GREAT idea! Go for it! They will help you get where you want to go without hurting yourself or overdoing. And that way you'll keep going! Hurray!

I have been working with a personal trainer for about 6 months now and I LOVE it! Yes, it is expensive but I cannot imagine not doing it anymore. I can only afford once a week so I get as much as I can out of that session as possible then supplement with my own stuff for the rest of the week.

Yea for you!!!!

A Happy Day!

Saturday, August 28, 2010

This is my first blog...and I have been a member of Spark for a long time...March 2006 to be exact. I love this website and all of the motivation, support and encouragement. I have always stayed close by.

Something clicked for me in April 2010 and I made a decision to make a new start. I went to my MD and learned that I had issues with cholesterol, thyroid, etc. that needed to be addressed. I found a great nutritionist who believes in clean eating, whole foods - nothing but the best and I decided to give it a try.

Over the course of these months, with the help of the MD, the nutritionist, all of my SPARK friends and my family, I can finally say that I am making progress in the right direction.

My cholesterol has dropped from 265 to 201. My weight this morning hit 197 - I have not seen numbers in the 100s since possibly high school!

One day at a time, I know I cannot take a second for granted.

I went on vacation last week with family and gained 4 pounds. In the past, that would have taken me down the slippery slope. But when I got home, after one day, I started back in and those few pounds came off very quickly.

I wanted to post this blog to let you know (if you are discouraged) that it really can happen. I wish I could say what made it click for me in April - I think it was the conversation with my MD in part.

I am convinced too, that the clean eating is critical for me. I have learned so much!

I hope to post a few pictures soon to my SPARK page...something I have not done in the past.

Thank you to all my SPARK friends and to my family for all of the support and encouragement. I need it now more than ever. I will need to keep focused and taking the right steps to keep on this journey. I still have a long way to go...progress and not perfection!
