one week in ...

i signed up a week ago ... on wednesday ... and today, is wednesday ... so i weighed myself ... i lost four pounds ... yay!

just as nice as that, i've been exercising every day ... i feel great now about what i'm doing and how i'm doing it ... but i'm a bit worried about sustaining it ... i'm an A.D.D. sort ... i start lots of things and don't finish them ..... so now to figure out how to keep it up ... surely this successful week will make next year doable.. right?

    Way to go! Remember how nervous you were last Wednesday? You've come so far in a short amount of time. I can't wait to see how much further you'll go. Four pounds is great! Remember,though, your weight loss may slow down as you go along. Somewhere down the line, you may not lose anything for a couple of weeks, or you might even gain a little back. DON'T BE DISCOURAGED! It's a part of the process. emoticon

the lorax ...

today i went to see the lorax (it was great) .... and i had each kid take a treat in their pocket and i took a water bottle so that we wouldn't feel the need to go to the snack bar .... it was easy to make this tiny lifestyle adjustment ... the trick is to decide to do it always ... not just when i'm newly obsessive with spark people, right?

third day

i've been on spark people three days ... i guess if you spend all your time looking through all the boards and blogs and articles and trying to get spark points, that you aren't eating cookies, so that's good .... i'm tracking food, exercising daily, reading motivating stuff ....

and the hardest part is not weighing myself EVERY morning and EVERY night .... which i've been doing for a year or so to prevent weight creep .... but, i'm not weighing until next wednesday... which was what day one was .... a wednesday ... it seems a long ways away ....

    That is a good start! Read the motivators. Get yourself used to not snacking on bad food. Get used to thinking healthy!

Well, I don't even have a scale. I weigh myself once a month. I have found I can easily get obsessed with certain things, and turn that obsession into something unhealthy. Like weightloss. There are easy and not easy ways to lose. If I weighed myself daily, or even weekly, I think I would be way too tempted to turn to diet pills or a crash diet to see some results. By not really knowing my weight, but by seeing the results in my clothes and such, well, then, I don't get as discouraged by the scale if it doesn't read what I think it should.

Good job. You can do it!

nervous ...

ok ... i'm nervous to be blogging about weight loss ... it seems all private and personal ... but being private hasn't been helping me lose weight, so maybe this will ... right?

i am not brave enough to tell you my what's what but will tell you that in the first week of january this year (2012) i weighed 185 pounds .... i'd gained some weight over the holidays but it was five pounds less than i had weighed a year before .... so, one year, five pounds ... that's too slow ... time to do better ....

Welcome to the safe place to lose weight. Jump in, join in, read, study, talk to folks, use the will find it is SO worth the effort you put into it.

    SP is a no judgment zone! You are among friends. In fact, you probably couldn't say much that someone out here hasn't heard or experienced themselves. I've used SP in the past without success, but I also wasn't making use of this amazing community. This time around is completely different. I'm blogging, making friends, and holding myself 110% accountable. Track EVERYTHING! It's not easy, but it's so worth it. Good luck.
