kind of coasting

Friday, September 12, 2014

This week, doing 5 sets of 25 situps, 5 sets of 15 pushups. 2 20 minute bike rides up and down the hilly neighborhood, 2 zumba classes, volunteering at the library. walking up and down the 4 flights of stairs in the parking garage and at the docs office about once every other week.
focusing on being positive. using the grateful journal to focus thoughts. keeping on the balance eating healthy and doing things that need to be done without resentment. Chores aren't so bad when you just finally do them.

I'm kinda coasting today too. Had a rough week--way overloaded at work, not sleeping well, Today, I'm breaking my exercise streak, but at least I'm tracking everything else. Hoping to rest this weekend and get back on track starting tomorrow. Will do a few minutes tonight if I can. So exhausted! Awake at 3 something; not enough sleep and too much stress! So glad for SP to keep me motivated as much as possible.

Finally-I've lost more than I dared believe I could. This reminds me of the children's story, I'm not a Loser. By the end of the story, it turns out the main character is a finder.
So, I lost my way... I worked on my weaknesses and now they are my strengths.
I am a finder too. I found my divine nature. I am inherently more than I ever thought possible. It is possible to still learn and grow at my age. I am free. I am American. I have every opportunity. This life is hard, I feel like I've been run through the ringer for many years. Working through it really makes it all worth it.
Everytime I sit at the window and see the sun rise and the birds on the birdfeeder, I remember I am not alone. I am at peace.

PS Since my daughter's wedding in May, I have worked my way up from 6 different kinds of crunches in a 10 minute workout and a one minute plank.
Now I am up to 6 different sets of 90 crunches and 60 pushups.
I was having all carbs; now I am having at least 2 servings of veggies a day.
My home is clean. It is a haven where the spirit resides.

Marshall Jensen, Survivor of the year 2014.
Love his talk about how Babe Ruth may have hit around twice as many strikes as he did home runs, but he is remembered for the home runs!
My Nephew is the best!!!!

starting again

I was getting measured for a dress for my daughter's wedding and was shocked. so my waist was over 38 and I'm prediabetic. I started exercising last week-5 mins. I'm on day 9-35 mins. I lost 3 lbs. I am also quite proud of myself because I consciously gave up the whole grains again. I gave up sugar for honey. I have made sure my food options were on hand. I stand up and walk around as much as I can.
I work with children. I bought stickers and Iphone sticky notes. for the older ones, I write 1 positive thing on their paper. for the little ones, I put a sticker on the paper. They love it! They remember how nice I was to them. I am always humbled how the Lord puts me where he wants me. So many times I have been able to interact with children from church and their parents.

Going Good

Monday, July 08, 2013

My daughter has known a young man for years. His family is stalwart in a family church in which his family has been preachers and the family entrenched in their traditions. He never wanted to be any more than friends with my daughter because of his family and their background. They talked over the phone and visited each other and struggled in him feeling out of her league. He went off to the Naval Academy. After 2 years of college, they finally began boyfriend and girlfriend status.

Around Mother's Day, he flew out to where we lived & our daughter & her boyfriend drove out of state so she could be closer to him. We all drove part of the way with her to see my husband's parents. While there, my husband's father gave them a heart to heart talk and they left in good spirits. The end of the week, lovely couple went to a Ring Dance to celebrate the young man finishing his junior year. At the Ring Dance, he proposed to our daughter. We were so happy for the two of them. Meanwhile, my husband's father sent the young man his own set of scriptures with his name on them. The young man was very impressed and set to reading the scriptures again. One day he had the words and feelings for what he knew was right in a church. it was all written in those scriptures, he just hadn't noticed it before.
So in just 2 months, he had a testimony. He was baptized by my husband Saturday and received the Holy Ghost Sunday. He wants the good things and realizes he can attain them if he only tries to do his best.
