This Is The Stuff

Monday, April 11, 2011

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

All about Francesca Battistelli:

I LOVE the lyrics to this song, how fitting it is for the morning I have been having!

My intention today was to begin eating right, truly watching every morsel that i put in my mouth, also to begin my second round of P90X. Blog everyday for accountability with work out and my food diary, but that didn't happen! LOL

Let me start by last night, i got home late and decided to prep my veggies and fruit, cook up some chicken and relax. Completed the veggie and fruit prep even cooked the chicken, got the boys to bed and sat down to relax and read my very motivational magazines, Oxygen and Fitness Rx, well by the time i look at the clock it is 11:00. No wonder i was falling asleep so I make my way up the stairs and straight to bed since you know i'm meant to wake up at 4:30 to work out. LOL

Fast forward to this morning after being woken up at 1:00 am by my oldest son, then 2:30 by the husband 4:30 didn't happen and i woke up at 6:25, when i have to be out the door by 7:00 to make it to daycare and then work on time. I take my shower make my way downstairs only to discover i left the chicken out all night, nice one! LOL So there goes my lunch, then i only have 15 mins until 7 and i still need to get our lunches ready, wake the boys up and get my breakfast in, yep didn't happen. Instead i woke up the boys and we headed out the door and at the Starbuck's drive thru.

So I laughed and that song popped right into my head and i know God just sat up there and laughed at me! So I'll try again tomorrow. I still plan on doing P90x when i get home and cooking tonights dinner on top of bathing boys and doing our bible study together so it will be another late night but my workout will get done. As for lunch i brought my cup of fruit salad, my prepped salad of romaine, red peppers, cucumbers feta, and tomato, and i used osar meyer deli meat for the protein, i had to improvise, so the rest of today will be on track.

As long as i keep singing these lyrics:

This is the stuff that drives me crazy
This is the stuff that's getting to me lately
In the middle of my little mess
I forget how big I'm blessed
This is the stuff that gets under my skin
But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing
It might not be what I would choose
But this is the stuff You use

I'll just keep picking myself up and continue my plan!

"This is Why Your Fat"

Friday, November 05, 2010

Well recently i had been going through an internal stuggle on deciding what i was going to go with on an eating plan. I had begun an eating plan with some fellow sparkies where we cut out sugar and white flour, but after some company came to visit i went of the plan and have been having trouble staying on it.

I had been debating recentley whether to get back on it or to shoot for the WW point system. I knew i needed some time to myself and with 2 little ones that IS NOT easy! LOL , to decide what the heck was i going to do.

Well the other day i had some time and picked up Jackie Warner's book "This is Why Your Fat" and I'm still reading it but had reached the chapter on sugar and the harmful effects it has your body. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are having trouble eating healthy at all, it was motivational and a bit scary. It definitley helped me decide what i was going to do no if, ands, or buts!

Below is a list of what she says sugar does to your body. It scared me enough to kick my butt back into gear which is what i really needed. I just wanted to share this with some of you because i know sometime especially getting closer to the holidays things get tuff. So good luck to all of you out there and add this book to your Christmas list!

Effects of Sugar on the body:

Sugar makes you fat (we all know this.)

Sugar Grows Cancer - (Cancer cells multiply rapidgly. This process requires a lot of energy. To get enough energy, cancer cells supercharge themselves with glucose. Cancer cells love sugar. Suger makes tumors grow. You can help stop cells from mutating into cancer through diet and exercise. )

Sugar gives you wrinkles.

Sugar Kills Your Immune System

Sugar Makes you Stupid

She obviously goes on and explains more about each statement above, but the point that stuck out the most for me was the cancer one.

Just wanted to share with everyone since it motivated me, hopefully it motivates you.

Who knew that sugar could do so much to you, yet our society now-a-days revolves around sugar. I'm definitely going to start watching my kids sugar intake more carefully now. Thanks!

I totally agree! I've been off sugar for only a week, but I already see improvement in my face, increased mental alertness, and less bloating! I've come out of the sugar coma that I had been in for so long!

Interesting. I stopped eating sugar a few years ago and really don't miss it. At 58, I don't have many wrinkles so maybe there's something to her ideas.

Cutting out sugar from my diet has been a good path to losing weight for me. I am getting results but sometimes these methods need reinforcing and that's why I'm going to try and get a copy of that book. Thanks for sharing. All the best on your journey. emoticon

Weigh IN

Thursday, October 07, 2010

Well another week and another weigh in already. Man times flies by. Well this week i lost just under a pound. A pound is pound but a little disappointed. After some research with my sparkie friend Sherlyn we think it comes down to the Kashi cereal i have been eating, so NO MORE kashi!!! Back to cream of wheat or oatmeal. Fingers crossed this is it, will find out next week at weigh in.

It is kind of funny because when i weighed in and seen it was just under a pound i instantly remembered how on Biggest Loser week 2 they always lose way less then they did the first week. Week 2 on there is notorious for only 1 -2 pound weight loss. Now I know how those contestants feel! LOL

So to all my girlies on this plan good luck and stay the course! I'm so blessed to have found ALL of you!!!

Emy, I think my second week is going to be the same, too. I have TOM on the way this weekend, so I know it's going to affect my results for week 2. Then I, too, can relate to the biggest loser contestants. We will do this together, though. Congrats on the loss, though. A loss is a loss no matter how big or small.

Congrats on your loss. You can be proud of yourself for sticking to the plan faithfully. This week the weight loss has seemed to slow for me too. I am not quite down a pound either, but I do have a few more days until weigh in. What I'm trying to say is the weight is not falling off this week, like it did last week. BUT, I think that I can feel my waist shrinking. May sound crazy but in just a week and a half, my belly seems smaller. All I know is that this plan does work. Sherilyn is our example. When I look at her pictures, I really think the weight just melted off of her!! Don't get discouraged, just keep pressing on. I know you won't be disappointed in the LONG RUN! HUGS

YOu put a smile on my face when I signed in to spark this morning and saw you had BLOGGED! I didn't know what you were goin' to say.... but I was glad to see you blogged!

So yesterday with you up and then back down today PLUS some that is great!

I remember when I lost a lb one of the weeks I was on this plan... I was disappointed... CRAZY really to think about feeling that way when I truly could 'tell' I was losing weight! Sometimes those high numbers really throw us for a loop on the next time... because we "EXPECT" that same high number again! YOU rock.. and don't you forget it!

MY Husband is so good to remind me of something that I AM NOW going to remind YOU!!! (smiling big)

LOOK at the overall total...or even the average weekly amount and then you will be thrilled and if you are not THRILLED then you will "feel better"!

YOU lost 4 your first week now 1 lb (almost) this week so 5 in 2 weeks is AMAZING!
or 2.5 a week is AMAZING!

ARE YOU SATISFIED eating this way?

Thinking of you and

I appreciate your blog for sure!

PS I "SO FEEL" for those contestants too!

Good for you! I will have to check out this eating plan. It is working wonders for my friend, JENNYAMHSTYEDU1, and now you love it too! Really will have to try it for myself since I am stuck. What kind of exercise are you incorporating? I typically avoid sugar and white flour anyway and have for years but the weight just isn't coming off.

I'm right there with you, Emy! I'm just a tad over 4lbs in 6 days. Who could imagine that it would be this easy to lose 4 lbs! I'm glad you posted your blog. We need to share this plan with more people so that they can learn an easy way to lose the weight, too.

Yeah I agree, so simple, the only thing is to weigh and measure, which is so easy. I have finally seen results, the scale is moving in the right direction, and I am satisfied, not ever hungry and so proud of myself.

So Frustrated with Myself

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Lately i have been so frustrated with myself. I can totally get all my workouts in. I have enought discipline to wake up at 4:45 AM and workout but for some reason i can not get the discipline down on my food. Why or why is it so hard?

I used to weight 185 pounds at 5'3" that is a whole lot of weight! I took it off easily no problem all the way down to 130. Now to keep it off and stay in that range why is it so hard? I often get frustrated by all these books and programs to help you get the weight off but where are the programs that help keep it off? I know already it is easy right? Keep track of food and continue exercise, just frustrated with myself that i can do both but apparently not at the same time......HELP!!!!

Any thoughts or ideas from any of you on how u keep motivated or on track (food wise) would be GREAT!!!!

The same thing happened to me. I reached my weight goal seven years ago and slowly gained 14 lbs over the last two years. I tried blaming it on newly diagnosed low thyroid, but the fact is that I slacked off on healthy eating. So, before this happens to you, check out these 49 teams for maintaining weight after losing.

GLMOM2 8/25/2010 1:40PM

I'm not at the point yet of maintaining, but certainly hope someday I will be.

You are right, is there anything to help you maintain? All of the books, etc are on losing it! Good point.

The best you can do is continue to eat in moderation and make sure to get in your workouts. You've done very well so far, I'm sure you'll do just fine maintaining it too!

Just remember how far you've come on your journey and remember how you don't want to go back.

You are right. It is just so easy, I don't understand why you are having so much problems, NOT!!!!!.

It is not easy at all. I have been on that weight roller coaster for years. If it were easy, I would be skinny right now. I was down to 175lbs and I am currently at 245lbs.

I think the best way to maintain your weight would be to join a support group, like Weight Watchers. They not only help people take the weight off, but they have a good maintenance program as well. Find a few friend you can share your journey with if WW is not an option.

But, whatever you do, just do the best you can and never give up.

Over the years I have found that eating is just a habit. For me, every time I felt either anxious or nervous about something, I would head for the fridge. I am 5'1.5" tall and weighed at the most 183.6 lbs which is an awful lot for me. After losing 28 lbs, I no longer wish to see those pounds back on my body again so..... when I do feel like eating a little something, I will eat a fruit or a vegetable or simply drink some water. I found that I can find the satisfaction with these nowadays and no longer feel that I have to splurge. Continue to exercise, keep count of your calories but do remember that you do need to eat more if you exercise more. I wish you luck on this journey. emoticon

Wow, I totally relate to what your saying. I do the same thing, I will do my workouts, get to the gym, then at night snack away and can't stop eatting! I would make myself feel guilty about eatting it and tell myself tomorrow I will be really good. Well I just started writing down how I feel, and reminding myself that I don't need to "start over" or "feel guilty" if I just stick to the foods and calorie intake I am supposed too.
Maybe you could try writing down how your feeling when you want to eat, and then looking at it will help keep yourself in check. I know it has helped me, but again I am new at Spark and writing things down. But I can tell you I feel better now than I did last week :)
