Be yourself.

I was out for a long walk today and a driveway caught my attention when heading back towards home. A young girl wrote this quote with colorful chalk letters. The rest of the driveway was decorated with free form designs.

HIIT on a treadmill

Sunday, January 05, 2014

Push the speed higher and go faster during the TV ads. Bring the speed down to an easier to maintain but challenging speed during the show.

Monitor your comfort level and heart rate to adjust both the faster and slower speeds.

    Sounds exhausting...

I've only tried the treadmill thing for a few months.. because I live where winter is not white & being out-of-doors works for us here all year around.

I don't know how you do it.

Keep up the good work

Like it! I am a member of the "clean slate club" . . . every day is a clean slate, an opportunity to do better . . . so that's not all bad!

The days and the hours are like a spinning, kaleidoscopic wheel...much like the background you chose for your page. We always have a fresh start if we choose to take advantage of it. Ecoage, you are a philosopher! Here's to much success, happiness and fulfillment in the new year.

Notes to Self

Wednesday, December 04, 2013

I almost wrote "Conclusion" but this is not an ending.

My Feaster Five race pace and finish time are on the record now. It is better time than last year --- meeting my goal to beat the year before. But I was hoping for a better time because my practice times are better than my race pace. I have to remember that my race pace is not as fast as I can go.

My running coach (years ago) told me that a race will have variables out of my control. She was right. I could not control the huge crowds. They slowed me down on the downward hill slope requiring me to weave among slower walkers instead of picking up some much needed fast minutes. I spent a lot of the race passing slower "racers" huddled in groups. Time was lost going around an ambulance near the last turn on the last hill. Better to lose a bit of time than the poor racer who needed that ambulance!

Now is the hard part --- maintaining this level of running for a base and gradually improving. Without a race. In the cold. In the dark. To be continued ..

I recently ran the Hot Chocolate and experienced the same thing with the crowds of walkers. It was pretty frustrating! Oh well I'm glad they're out there getting their fit on I s'pose. Push on!

Keep pushing! It IS hard in the cold and dark, but the alternatives to me of NOT walking are much darker and colder for me. So, onward, walk1

My next town is only 4 miles away and somewhere I pass into Illinois from Kentucky. I get so excited! It's so cold outside, but I am going to have to be sure to give it a little push to get enough miles to make Illinois!
