Working out regularly and eating healthy is becoming an incredible and enjoyable habit. Day by day I'm beginning to make healthy choices without even thinking about it. When I go out shopping at the mall, to the movies, or even in a rush......I'm making much healthier choices. It's beginning to get easier and my life is becoming much more simplified.

So, as the days go by without a hitch and smooth as silk, with very little drama, day to day life is progressive and I'm finding myself asking, "What day is it anyway?" emoticon

Success is slow in coming and I am not complaining. I started eating more and zigzagging calories is benefiting my body. I'm losing and am also feeling the difference in my body proportions. My goal has been to target my belly fat and I am really happy with the results I'm getting.
Additionally, my high school son was visiting and gave me guidance and instruction on really targeting my lower abs which is the area I really need to target. I tend to lose weight all over. So the ab and core exercises he pushed me into doing are earning me results. I feel it working, and I hope its making a visible difference. I know it is in my clothing. That's probably all that matters anyway. I'm enjoying seeing the numbers on the scale decline at a pace that I am proud of.
Progress has found me and I surely hope this winning streak continues throughout the month of July. For July, I am going to push for 2500 calorie weekly burn, and continue eating and focusing on healthy eating. I'm no longer drinking or yearning for Dr. Pepper and so happy that I got over that addiction. It's nice going out with friends and simply buying an Arizona Green Tea drink for refreshment. At restaurants, I've learned to request extra lemons and ice to make a refreshing lemonade drink. I pull out Stevia packets from my purse and avoid Splenda and Sweet & Low. This new skill is helping me stay on track and focused while hanging among friends. Other things I'll continue doing is finding it easier adding protein consistently by planning for and consuming 15 protein grams minimum per meal including snacks.
Perhaps I will write out my workout plan for each week, but for now, I'm tracking my cardio, nutrition, and examining all reports so I can determine deficits so that I can make changes for continued progress.
So, here's to July and to all it will bring! emoticon emoticon emoticon

So, since I've added more cardio, now I understand why it is imperative to add more good carbs. The benefits of good carbs are beneficial for the brain, muscles, and to burn fuel in the body. Now that I understand this concept much better, I hope to see lower numbers on the scale. Only time will tell. Another thing I need to consider is never second guess the size of proteins such as fish, chicken, and poultry. Measuring these items can make a significant difference to weight loss. Words of wisdom....for work in progress.

Yes baby! It's happening.

So I've taken control of my eating and changed my meal plan using Shaun T's meals. And I am finally getting results. Today, I've lost another pound. Could be water weight, however, it won't really matter because I continue to work with cardio, I'm working more on my abs, and I'm using weights to build muscle. I know that 70% of any definition that occurs stems from nutrition so I'm very focused on eating right. At first I was concerned with the protein shakes and adding fruit such as strawberries, mixed berries, and blueberries because my body tends to build muscle well. It is the sugars that I am most concerned with. Since insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar in my body, my concern is when there are high levels of insulin in the blood, it can cause a chemical reaction that tells the body to store the calories eaten instead of burning them. That is not what I want! I am using fresh fruit for the shakes, but I wondered if the sugar was too much for my body. I know others can handle more, but I'm not sure my body does so well. I think it tends to go in storage mode therefore hindering my body's ability to lose the weight I desire. Now, I'm seeing good results therefore I am relieved at the process that my body is transforming into at this point.

Hum.....Looks like I'm only two pounds away from that new hair style for meeting my first goal. What look should I go for? Better start lookin'. My daughter says that the 80's look is back in. I really liked that period. Let's see........

Woe! When I opened to blog, I notice that I posted at least four times. THat is a total surprise! I was having an issue with my computer. Boy was it ever slow in processing yesterday. SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! so I suppose when I posted and noticed there to be no processing, I simply hit "POST BLOG ENTRY" again, again, again, and so there it is.....the same post 4 other times. WOOPS!

However, today is a day of celebration! I am now down 2 lbs. emoticon I'm back to weighing the same ten days ago when I first started Shaun T's slim down. emoticon This is exciting once again. I wanted a meal change and hoped to be down a bit more using the slim down. Some obstacles I encountered were that it was a time when aunt flo made her appearance, incorporating protein shakes to replace a meal, and adding more weights. I haven't taken any new measurements, but I sure got a scare 5 days ago when I recognized the swelling of my body and the measurements I had taken were one inch greater than when I first began this weight loss at the beginning of May. I plan to complete this week and on Sunday morning, I will be taking new measurements to determine those numbers. My focus is on weight loss, however, my reality is that since I am using weights also, I am increasing muscle mass also. This is good for me because muscle burns fat. With increased muscle mass, my metabolism will increase also. I have a tremendous amount of energy therefore this is a wonderful plus.

So, as of today, I am down the 2 lbs gained during the switching of meal plans and the addition of weight training. emoticon
