gratitude journal

Sunday, December 30, 2012

i've seen posts on facebook lately about having a gratitude jar. i love the idea of a beautiful vase holding colorful tidbits of goodness, but i think i'm going to go with a journal instead--it will fit into my life better, and still accomplish making thankfulness a daily habit. i'll keep it simple, limit my entries to one sentence, and practice intentional gratitude.
there are other things i want to accomplish in 2013, but this is my first "resolution." i'm excited about this one.

and yet another light bulb moment....

Saturday, December 08, 2012

emoticon of the day
i realized this morning that i'm still waiting for a "moment" to arrive when i've got it all under control...i'm not eating to much, or too little, i'm exercising the right amount, and it's all wonderful. it's odd when i realize i've been operating under a false assumption; in this case, my assumption is that i'll discover a magic formula that i can follow for the rest of my days. i feel pretty foolish putting it in print, but exposing it to the light will help me correct my error. my weight has been up and down for a while, within about 7 lbs, but it's now staying up. i was perplexed, since things had been working great, so i wondered what's the issue??? i evaluated what's changed...i haven't been eating terribly differently, but i have been expending less calories.
emoticon if i decrease my output, i'd better decrease my intake, if i increase my intake, i'd better increase my output, and vice versa. that's sort of "no, duh!" but sometimes my mind needs to be firmly schooled in the truth. like i discovered, AGAIN, this morning.

It's funny how you can know something but not really know it. Does that make sense? I've know for years all the things I needed to do to get healthy but never put it into practice. It was too hard! I didn't want to! My inner child is a handful.

twinkie diet

i have not heard this news before today, that you can eat twinkies, ho hos & ding dongs and still lose weight. maybe last year, this would have thrilled me, but it honestly made me want to....ummm...toss my cookies, today. i guess that shows i've made a lot of progress. but i still feel a bit gastrically unsettled.
i'll stick with a balanced diet rich in veggies and healthy food.

I've never been a fan of twinkies, preferring Tastee Cakes instead from the East Coast.

It may help you lose weight but how healthy is that and what do you loose? It maybe that you lose more muscles than fat too. Not worth it.

You can lose weight eating any food.. as long as it is done in moderation but it still hurts your body overall. Sad but true. I agree with you though. I will stick with the healthier foods. I won't say I don't eat snacks.. because I do, but I don't eat them ALL the time.

fun size

Monday, November 26, 2012

i visited some friends i haven't seen in a while. both of the gals commented on how "little" i am. i said, "i don't feel little," and one of the guys said, "you're 'fun size.'" it cracked me up. i'd never heard that before, but apparently it's an expression that's been around. i'll be smiling about that for a while. every time i walk past those packages of little candy bars, i'll remind myself NOT eating them will allow me to BE fun size.
all that said, i hope this isn't a derogatory thing in some circles.
keep smiling, folks! emoticon
