Mine at home was off by 5# so whenever I weighed in at TOPS(Taking off Pounds Sensibly) I would weigh heavy so it was important to me to purchase a scale. I saw the one at WALLY MART that cost $50 and records (you name it) weight, body fat, unhealthy snacks, etc. etc. etc. My choice was to put it off awhile. Than my neighbor gave me a digital scale and I found it weighed 5# more than mine at home. So, now I am legal and I am in the run for the goal of the Yellow Rose. I hope my friend, the scale is going to come through.

The Yellow Rose: The yellow rose is the symbol for becoming a KOPS (Keeping of Pounds sensibly a term used at my TOPS weight loss support meetings). Becoming a KOP means you have reached your goal weight. Each of our KOPS members are presented with 2 yellow rose at our awards ceremony each year, 1 to keep and 1 to give away to someone they want to inspire.

I. Read about another successful person that has developed a plan.

I took a look at Coach Nicole's blog and saw that one of the most effective methods for her was to develop a plan that works for her. She called it Habits of Fit People.

1. Mix it up
2. Stick to habits of fit people on vacation
3. Work out when you travel
4. Treat a holiday like any other day
5. Develop a plan B
6. Create a workout playlist - songs on ipod or cd's you enjoy
7. Commit to just 10 minutes
8. Find something fun
9. Pack your bag
10. Mark your calendar

So, I am developing a plan that works for me.

II. Making a notebook to log my progress via this JUNE FITNESS BLOG.

Type of excercise
Time spent
How I felt during the time
Sleep Patterns
Refueling after workout/what/how soon
Mileage on Pedometer

III. Marking it on the calendar
Challenge - Tops, team up with Audrey & Linda - June 18th

I'm struggling with exercise but have also committed to the minimum mins. After 10 mins of exercise sometimes endorphins will kick in, so I upped the 10 mins to 15. Because after the endorphins kick in then sometimes you don't want to stop. And I need all the help I can get. So committed to 15 it is.

SPIRIT EYES * Help me find you in the loss and in the gain.

Thursday, June 04, 2009

Let me see you in the battle and not just in the victory,
Let me see you in the darkness and not just in the dawn,
Let me see you in the trial and not just in the triumph,
Let it be your face of love I look upon.

Give me spirit eyes
To see the truth behind the lies,
To find the hope that hides within despair.
Give me spirit eyes
To look behind the world's disguise
And faith to know that I will find you there.

Let me see you in the present and not just in the future,
Let me see you in the sinner and not just in the saint,
Let me see you in the questions and not just in the answer,
Help me find yu in the loss and in the gain.

Repeat Chorus
- Claire Cloninger

emoticon What is my point you say? I am writing this blog because I have a change in my weigh in routine. I have been going by my old scale and have known it to be five pounds off. Recently a digital scale was given to me and now I must face the music. emoticonFrom here on I will weigh on the new to me scale and it just kills me to have to add 5 # to my already going down to goal ticker. Really I have mixed emotions. On the one hand I like seeing the old scale reading than on the other I know the new scale is an honest reading. Which is more important emoticon of course honesty wins out!! emoticon From this to emoticon this and God is helping me find Him in the loss and in the gain.

Elaine- emoticon
The music is sweeter.

Yes, several months ago, I had to do the same thing. I ended up going back and readjusting all the previous readings so they could be accurate. Aggggghhh! What a blow to my ego! But necessary!

WORRYING...does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles...it empties today of it's strength. -Aunt L

Saturday, May 23, 2009

This poppy is one I photographed. Orange is supposed to be a powerful color. I chose it because I believe when I turn my worries into prayers it equals the power of God in my life.

Legend has it there’s a study out there that says 90% of what we worry about never comes to pass. Whether that study is real or not, it’s most likely that this statistic holds in your life. How much of our lives do we miss because we’re agonizing over what might happen down the road? How often do we fail to act – even if it’s the right thing to do – because we fear any number of possible consequences? Fretting over the future doesn’t solve any of those impending problems. It only paralyzes your actions of the present. It stresses you out, makes you mentally and physically tired, and saps all the fun out of what could have been another great day. Next time you start to worry about what might happen, think of this: You can prepare, but you cannot predict. So do what you can, and forget what you cannot.

Thanks Joyce for sharing the next paragraph ( I hope you don't mind I copied it here.) It is one of my long time favorites and from the best source, the Bible.
Philippians 4:6-7 "Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life."

I am not sure if you have heard of The Message Bible this passage in Philippians goes along with your thoughts about not worrying.

Since I am the kind of person who likes to be prepared, my kids tease me about all the things I was potentially prepared for that never happened.

If I find myself starting to worry, I turn it over to God. Of course, there are times I have to KEEP turning it over to God!

i was or still am guily of unnecessary worrying...mot of it is unfounded...we fret about the possible problems...i don't worry about the past, it's over and done with, i try not to worry about tomorrow, it's not here yet...
the good lord said, what is needed is faith....i have looked back, and i know for a fact..the only way i got this far in my life with all it's problems is with god...i always had what i needed, not what i wanted

Thanks for reminding me. I actually lost sleep last night thinking "ahead" about a problem. The truth is...it's not a problem yet...I just keep thinking it might be. Now how silly is that. It's going to be a nice Saturday...so I'm going to concentrate on that instead. Hope you have a marvelous weekend. Continued blessings to you. mary

"All the fat belongs to the Lord." Leviticus 3:16B

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. I just hope he wants to take my excess fat because I don't want or need it.
I am excited to be on this journey. I can do this. It will definitely not be easy but I am up for the challenge.

Methinks the Lord giveth the fat abundantly.

Too bad wisdom is harder to come by.

Elaine..I once had a sign on my frig that said this,

" Goodbye fat rolls. You have done your best to shield me by giving me a reason to hide myself. You have kept me from making friends as they would not want to be friends with a fat woman. You have kept me from exercising because my knees hurt. You have done so much for me! But I do not need you any more. I am not only giving you permission to leave but ordering you to go....so good bye fatrolls."
I used to recite that as I walked in my head....perhaps I need to start that again!

Great blog!
