I am not new to spark people but have not been on since before the birth of my daughter, who turned one last month. I was fortunate that through nursing her, I was able to lose not only the 22 pounds I gained while pregnant but also an extra ten. Since she has been weaned down to two feedings a day, I have gained two pounds. Now that she's not sucking off all my extra calories, I know I need to change my habits, so I don't regain the rest of the weight I lost. (I admit, I enjoy all the compliments I've been getting).
My main focus is to add some activity to my life. I am basically sedentary. I enjoy the computer - playing games, writing, networking (Facebook), and "window" shopping. My other hobbies include TV, movies, reading, scrapbooking etc. Aside from taking my daughter for a walk on occasion, I don't do much that is active.
My husband and his family are all very active. He enjoys sports, working out, and running. My mother-in-law is at the gym almost daily taking crossfit classes. I am self-conscious about my lack of athleticism in comparison to them. I never thought I would have a mother-in-law who, at twenty-two years my senior, is in far better shape than I have ever been, and I find that it bothers me more than it probably should.
While I am happy with my appearance and overall self, I need to get in better shape. I honestly don't care if I lose any weight. I'm pleased with the weight I've lost and frankly can't afford a new wardrobe if I went down a few sizes anyway Sure it would be nice to lose 20 pounds to get down to the weight I was once upon a time, but my main goal is to avoid gaining any more weight and to force myself off the couch. I would like to tighten and tone (especially my post-baby belly) and make it so I can walk briskly, and maybe go for a jog with my husband, without feeling like I can't breath. If I lose some weight in the process, than great, but I'm not preoccupied with that goal.
