Childlike Excitement!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

I slept last night with the windows open and woke up to 61 degree weather. Perfect! Laid there listening to the birds and, because there was a breeze, the wind chimes. I checked my weather app and it said, while there was a slight chance of a thunderstorm later this afternoon, the humidity has lessened and it will be @71 today. I immediately began thinking back to my childhood when I used to jump out of bed and plead with my mother to go right outside, but she made us do our chores first. Boy, did we whiz through them! That's how I am feeling this morning. What is on my MUST list before I can go outside and play? Or the adult version of doing lesson plans for summer school and reading all the while sitting on my deck. I am so excited!

Ralph Waldo Emerson put it so eloquently!

Wrong Choices, Right Choices

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

I do not set out in my life to make wrong choices, but I do. That's life. I recently had a conversation in which I was mentioning the my husband and I were beginning to think about the next step in our lives. We thought we had it figured out, but there were some things that did not feel quite right, even though I wanted them to be! She said that she has run up against roadblocks at various times in her life and found out later why...because there was a better place to be. Wrong choices can lead to right choices. I have never thought this way before. Instead of beating myself up for my wrong choices, focus instead on what I learned from them. After all, my huge amount of wrong choices led me to right choice of being here with you! emoticon emoticon

There's a learning opportunity in every wrong choice. If we choose to take the lesson from it going forward then we can start making right choices. They say life is from B - D, Birth to Death, but what comes between B and D and fills our entire life? C. Choices! Here's to making the best ones we can every day! emoticon

What insight! You could beat yourself up about the 'wrong' choices but....what would be gained? ALL things happen for a reason. emoticon

#1 reason why it is important to have written down your goals. Too easy to forget them during all the hard work!

Steep Hills

Monday, July 08, 2013

When I started on this journey seriously, I knew it was going to be difficult, but had no idea! Self-negativity (is there such a phrase?), sliding backwards, moving, but not always forwards. I have come to the realization that no matter what, I will continue this quest. It may take me a lot longer than I had anticipated (and, believe me, I had already anticipated a LONG time!) or my goals may still be unrealistic, but none of that matters because I will keep heading toward the top of that mountain, no matter what! This is a huge decision because I have given up many times in the past, but I don't see it happening this time. I have never had such a huge support system before. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon You are the best!

A group of supportive friends can make all the difference when it comes to climbing those steep hills! That's what makes SP so great. The journey is always so much more enjoyable with friends. emoticon

I love your quote, that is how it was for me slow, but I am ok I finally got to where I wanted to be, and sometimes I go backwards and that is ok. You can do it slow and steady , and you have your friends to cheer you on. emoticon

Great attitude... we don't have to start over if we continue to refuse to give up.... we must keep on keeping on... there is no finish line.... as long as we're breathing we must choose to continue our journey to be the best we can be!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Yes, you have to be and remain discipline. I wish I had a chef who would cook and portion it out for. I did not have to go to work, so I could go and workout without scheduling issues. But I will stay the course. Love the picture. emoticon emoticon

The thing I find is that I have to keep reminding myself that there really is no destination. I'm on this for life. So, speed then seems to be so much less of an issue. It takes the mental game out of it for me.

Wishing you a wonderfully successful day!

Fruits of Labor

Sunday, July 07, 2013

One thing I like most about this time of years are the flowers. I don't like to do a lot of work in my garden, but I certainly enjoy the results! With the help and ideas of others, I have done a little bit each year and now get to reap the benefits! So indulge me today!

Can you tell what my favorite flower is?

I have three pathetic hydrangea plants that have never bloomed since planted about 5 years ago. I keep meaning to figure out what I'm doing wrong, but have never taken the time. Any suggestions, oh wise hydrangea master?
