Warrior?

Now some of you may read this and say, so what? I'm hoping others will know what I mean. Yesterday, for the first time since I have been on this journey, I got injured during working out. I rolled my ankle big time and fell hard to the floor. My foot and knee got messed up pretty bad. I limped to put ice on it and sat down for 20 minutes. The whole time I was sitting there I was thinking whether or not I could finish my workout. I checked and it wasn't swollen and I was able to put weight on it, hurting, but still able to, so I went back to the DVD and finished it. Not well, but finished it. This morning it still hurts, but not unbearable and I find myself thinking of what I can do today that won't aggravate it: upper body strength, core, stretching, video of sitting down exercises? Why am I telling you this? Because before I would have used this to a way to get out of exercising for yesterday, probably today, and then many more. Now I am figuring out how to exercise anyway? Major attitude change. I'm feeling like a warrior!

Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.

    Love the quote and your enthusiasm. I still want you to careful though. Spark has some great chair exercises. I did some and they are a great workout. Hope your foot and knee are better today. emoticon emoticon

    emoticon I'm so very proud of you!!! I know what you mean. I remember when I made that same adjustment. Isn't it simply awesome? And you can hardly believe that it is YOU that is thinking these thoughts! Hope you found something good to do that made you feel like you had a good workout and didn't hurt too. Take good care of you ... I know you will!! You're doing GREAT!!!

Summer Pleasure

I venture a guess when most people think of summer pleasures, they come with things like swimming, lemonade, BBQs, etc., but my favorite summer pleasure is reading. I teach first grade and one of my main goals is to show kids, not only HOW to read, but to ENJOY reading. I am passionate about this! The problem with that is I spend so much time during the school year "doing" for my kids and I fall asleep before finishing two pages! The summer is my catch-up time! I am not fussy about the books I read. Professional books, nonfiction, historical fiction, "mindless pleasure" books, doesn't matter. I realized this summer that I need this to put me into balance with my eating and exercise. In 2 weeks I start half-days of summer school, and I am already worried how to fit my pleasure reading in, but I will figure it out because I have learned here that there are many components to healthy living and for me, reading is one of them!

    I enjoy reading too. Trying to force myself to get through at least 5 classics this year... not my preferred genre, so I've only got two done so far. I always seemed to get sidetracked by the books I DO like! Hope you get to enjoy a few good books this summer!

    I had two first grade teachers this year and I adored both of them. I wish I could say the same about my own first grade teacher....then again I probably was not a joy to have around at that age given what was going on at my house. Kuddos to you for all the extra you do for the kids!

    My first grade teacher taught me to love reading. I'm forever grateful to her! I had the pleasure of giving the gift to my daughter. Thank you for sharing it with your children! Ohhhhh to get lost in a wonderful book!!! Such an adventure!

Childlike Excitement!

I slept last night with the windows open and woke up to 61 degree weather. Perfect! Laid there listening to the birds and, because there was a breeze, the wind chimes. I checked my weather app and it said, while there was a slight chance of a thunderstorm later this afternoon, the humidity has lessened and it will be @71 today. I immediately began thinking back to my childhood when I used to jump out of bed and plead with my mother to go right outside, but she made us do our chores first. Boy, did we whiz through them! That's how I am feeling this morning. What is on my MUST list before I can go outside and play? Or the adult version of doing lesson plans for summer school and reading all the while sitting on my deck. I am so excited!

Wrong Choices, Right Choices

I do not set out in my life to make wrong choices, but I do. That's life. I recently had a conversation in which I was mentioning the my husband and I were beginning to think about the next step in our lives. We thought we had it figured out, but there were some things that did not feel quite right, even though I wanted them to be! She said that she has run up against roadblocks at various times in her life and found out later why...because there was a better place to be. Wrong choices can lead to right choices. I have never thought this way before. Instead of beating myself up for my wrong choices, focus instead on what I learned from them. After all, my huge amount of wrong choices led me to right choice of being here with you! emoticon emoticon

    There's a learning opportunity in every wrong choice. If we choose to take the lesson from it going forward then we can start making right choices. They say life is from B - D, Birth to Death, but what comes between B and D and fills our entire life? C. Choices! Here's to making the best ones we can every day! emoticon
