Steep Hills

Monday, July 08, 2013

When I started on this journey seriously, I knew it was going to be difficult, but had no idea! Self-negativity (is there such a phrase?), sliding backwards, moving, but not always forwards. I have come to the realization that no matter what, I will continue this quest. It may take me a lot longer than I had anticipated (and, believe me, I had already anticipated a LONG time!) or my goals may still be unrealistic, but none of that matters because I will keep heading toward the top of that mountain, no matter what! This is a huge decision because I have given up many times in the past, but I don't see it happening this time. I have never had such a huge support system before. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon You are the best!

A group of supportive friends can make all the difference when it comes to climbing those steep hills! That's what makes SP so great. The journey is always so much more enjoyable with friends. emoticon

I love your quote, that is how it was for me slow, but I am ok I finally got to where I wanted to be, and sometimes I go backwards and that is ok. You can do it slow and steady , and you have your friends to cheer you on. emoticon

Great attitude... we don't have to start over if we continue to refuse to give up.... we must keep on keeping on... there is no finish line.... as long as we're breathing we must choose to continue our journey to be the best we can be!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Yes, you have to be and remain discipline. I wish I had a chef who would cook and portion it out for. I did not have to go to work, so I could go and workout without scheduling issues. But I will stay the course. Love the picture. emoticon emoticon

Switching to a healthy lifestyle isn't easy for anyone... no matter how easy they make it look!

You can do it! emoticon

The thing I find is that I have to keep reminding myself that there really is no destination. I'm on this for life. So, speed then seems to be so much less of an issue. It takes the mental game out of it for me.

Wishing you a wonderfully successful day!

Fruits of Labor

Sunday, July 07, 2013

One thing I like most about this time of years are the flowers. I don't like to do a lot of work in my garden, but I certainly enjoy the results! With the help and ideas of others, I have done a little bit each year and now get to reap the benefits! So indulge me today!

Can you tell what my favorite flower is?

I have three pathetic hydrangea plants that have never bloomed since planted about 5 years ago. I keep meaning to figure out what I'm doing wrong, but have never taken the time. Any suggestions, oh wise hydrangea master?

Embrace Change

Saturday, July 06, 2013

As I watch my niece get ready for her wedding on September 1st, I think back to my own wedding almost 38 years ago. I absolutely knew that I was marrying a wonderful man who had solid values, but I had no clue what I was in for! I wonder if anyone does? If there is one thing I would tell her is to embrace change. Maybe even seek it out. Whether it is in your professional life, a relationship, or in a quest for a healthy lifestyle, you need to be ready for changes.

Tweaking Today

Friday, July 05, 2013

Just got back from vacation and then celebrated 4th of July by taking my 90 year old mother-in-law that is in a wheelchair to her reunion over 2 hours away. It was an adventure, to say the least, but she remembers parts of it and some of the people there, so that was good! While I didn't do awful regarding food, it wasn't good either. I decided to plan ahead by cutting down on previous meals, but I didn't turn down wine, pie, and ribs! And yesterday, who could resist the best macaroni and cheese in the world? We got home around 6 p.m. and it was hot and very humid, but I did get both some strength and cardio in, so I am patting myself on the back! Now just to get through the bridal shower tomorrow which I am hosting, but not cooking, thankfully! It is so much easier to stay in control when you are on a consistent schedule, but I am learning to plan ahead and, since life is all about these occasions, figure it out! For now, I am going to plan and tweak, plan and tweak, so I don't go backwards! In honor of the beach part of my vacation ---

Not like you went wild......looks fine to me....moderate yet enjoyable on the food. Just drink more water today and do an extra 20 really fast walking minutes -- vigorously
