Strength, only physical?

Thursday, April 11, 2013

"Where there is no struggle, there is no strength." - Oprah Winfrey

As I was reading Coach Nicole's reasons to exercise and she mentioned strength, I immediately thought of the physical aspect of it. I am not into high intensity workouts (at least not yet), nor do I love working out, but I do love how it makes me feel. I lost 60 pounds and gained 25 back. While there were some changes in my meds and I wasn't being as vigilant about my diet, I stopped exercising completely. I am now convinced that, for me, mental strength is even more important. The ability to work on keeping yourself healthy day in and day out requires mental toughness. Maybe this time I should focus on that and everything will fall into place!

I love the feeling of power that exercise gives me. Keep up the good work and have a great day!

I agree. Mental strength might be even more important than physical.

Confidence

Tuesday, April 09, 2013

I've been thinking about confidence today, since I am trying to read one of Coach Nicole's reasons to work out every single day. It strikes me that you can be both confident and unconfident with different aspects of your life. I am seen as one of the most confident teachers at my school - able to handle anything that is thrown my way and teaching makes me feel good. Now I have to connect the dots so that looking and feeling good are just as, or more important than my job. So...even though I am no where near my goal, confidence will come as I stick to eating healthy and exercising. Hopefully, it is a cycle. I become more confident when I stick to my goals and, when I stick to my goals, I become more confident! "I am not a has-been. I am a will-be." - Lauren Bacall

Thanks for sharing your thoughts...It's been true for me that as long as I am continuing to work on my goals, the more I feel like I am going to accomplish them. When I make it a priority to exercise and watch my intake, I definitely make progress. Much strength to you as you work on your goals.

Peace.

Priorities

Sunday, April 07, 2013

There was a lot of focus on me-time this past week. Tomorrow it is back to school, and, while I can't wait to see my kids, I have nothing planned for the day. My idea was to go into school a day or two during spring break and plan, but I decided to stay away and it truly was a good thing. There always seems to be "one more thing" to do before I leave for the day, so my goal is to leave school by 4, so I won't want to skip exercising. I try to be at school between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. I get a lot more done then! We will see if I am able to stick to it!

Birthday Celebration

Saturday, April 06, 2013

Ugh, celebrated my birthday with family. Way too many calories! Have 2 days before I head back to school. Will make them count! Much easier to do this when I have days off! Exercising in the morning is NOT an option since I have sleep issues and already give up at 5 a.m. Feel great when I feel able to leave school by 4 and come right home to exercise. It's those days when I am overwhelmed by things to finish up at school before I feel I can leave! Maybe priories and just let everything but the A-list go?

    Happy birthday!
Have the kids stand up and walk in place every now and then. (They can practice counting too.)
Put on your favorite tune and "step" while cooking. emoticon
