I am so sick

Sorry, I just need to rant.

The past 2 days I've been in bed sick with the flu. Can't sit in bed anymore. Still have a fever. It has to get better soon. I don't want any food so I guess I'll loose some weight but this isn't the way I want to do it.

Thank you for listening and letting me vent.

    I sure hope your body fights this off and you feel better quickly! You may not want to eat, but it is important that you keep up your energy so that your body has the fuel to fight off the infection.

Eat some homemade chicken soup-very brothy--with lots of veggies--and get better soon!!

  I'm sick too, although not as bad as yours. I just have a head cold. But instead of not wanting to eat I want icecream for my throat and soup, and chocolate. And of course I gave in, because I'm sick. emoticon

How to Make This Work for Me

I've lost 3.4 pounds so far without even really trying. Imagine what I can do when I put my mind to it.

Like many, my house is so chaotic. By the time the evening comes and I want to make my blog entry, I'm so tired I can't see straight. So I haven't been doing them. I have about an hour to myself every morning so I'm going to start to take advantage of that. If you see anything that doesn't quite make sense, just ignore it as it's probably because I'm still waking up...I'm not a morning person at all!

Took a friend of mine to do her shopping for the month. That's a lot of walking. Should get a pedometer to track my walking when I'm with her. So I had some exercise but not like I wish I had. Post surgery is probably pretty good though. I'm getting on the treadmill today!

As far as our diet goes, we are working out of the Comfort Food Diet cookbooks by Taste of Home. By doing this, it is allowing me to prepare the foods we love but make adjustments to make things even healthier. We love cheese in our house and I have found that by replacing about 3/4 of the cheese with Cheddar Cheese soup and using a sharp cheese saves a ton of calories, fat, etc.

Last night I made Macaroni Scramble. Everyone loved it but my youngest (6 year old) granddaughter. She would prefer it without the beef, the green stuff (celery), and the orange stuff (peppers). Keep the macaroni and the tomato sauce please. Anyway, it was 353 calories for a 1 1/3 cup serving. I added a huge salad with homemade ranch dressing that I found on the recipe member boards. It was just 10 calories a Tablespoon. It takes some getting use to if you aren't used to greek yogurt but otherwise it was very good.

Well the kids are stirring so I guess my quiet time is over. Time to get moving for the day.

My First Blog

Just read my first blog. I can't believe I messed this up again! So I had to ask myself why? I am a perfectionist. Can't start anything unless I'm prepared. In this case, it's getting my recipes in order so that I can plan meals. Never mind that I could organize them a little each week. Never mind that I have so many that I would never in my lifetime make them all. It seems I'm an all or nothing person. That HAS to change.

I will blog every day,
I will input my food and exercise every day.
I will read an article every day.
I will add to this list but won't do it all at the same time!

Woohoo!!!! Just got the ok to start walking slowly. Still can't do any major exercising but walking is a start! Four more weeks and I should be ok. Still can't lift anything over 15 pounds. Otherwise I feel great!

    Great news! Don't over do it. Start walk slow, after 5 min when blood is pumping and muscles warmed, stretch slowly for 5 min, then continue walking to reach your destination. Enjoy feeling your body perform.

Time to Start

The first day is always important. It will make or break the rest of this journey. I have read that keeping a journal of how you're feeling throughout the day is helpful, so I will try to blog everyday.

I'm just starting this journey. I already have so much to be proud of. Hubby and I quit smoking 2 months ago and I don't miss them at all. This journey is going to start with changing my eating habits. Once I get the okay from the doctor to exercise I will start that. I love to walk and I love my i-fit. It gives me something different everyday!

Oh, I always end my e-mails, etc. with one of my inspirational quotes. I struggle with self-esteem issues everyday. The word "Believe" can be found in just about every room in my house. It serves as a reminder to believe in myself. Thankfully, I don't need them as much today as I did 15-20 years ago but they are there for me when I do!
