If your living in the heat and humidity today, take the car and go to the local mall for a nice walk, just enjoying your day. If you perfer to stay home, do some exdrcise followed by catching up on some reading or a project. But most of all Enjot thid day.

The Streak of 24 Days

Monday, August 26, 2013

I started my streak of calorie range and exercise on August 1st. Yesterday I got my exercise in nice and early. Did things with hubby in the morning which was fun. Even with a couple little treats, tastes of toffee popcorn and a few tastes of a sasparilla float, I would continue with no problem. Or so I thought.

By the time we got home I was feeling pretty tired so didn't even eat lunch. Not being able to sleep (by now I've been up 26 hours) I was over-tired. I finally resorted to taking an OTC sleeping aid.

Wrong answer. I did get three hours sleep, but woke up nauseated. Sufficient to say after a run to the bathroom I went back to bed, a glass of ginger ale next to me to sip on.
My calorie/nutrient range was shattered.

I'm fine today. I've exercised and have been eating healthy foods. I'm not going to start counting my next streak til September first because my wedding anniversary is August 31st. I still intend to stay in range for the next 5 days and plan carefully for the 31st.

Moral of the story. Do not take meds on an empty stomach unless instructed to.

Thanks for reading. emoticon

Unexpected 5K

Friday, August 23, 2013

My bright idea for the day was to drive to the park and do my run/jog training. I drove around the huge puddles from last night's thunderstorm and parked near the basketball court. My walking bud, Jules the border collie waited patiently for me to do my warm up.

I had an uneasy feeling. Then I heard two men talking. I decided that I would drive to another area for my training. Again I avoided the huge puddles veering off into a field. The next thing I knew I was stuck. I couldn't see the "marsh" I drove myself into, so close to the road. At least it happened in a safe place and the men I heard were nowhere to be seen.

Jules and I headed home. It's exactly 5Ks from the park to my house. I had my ID in my pocket, a big bottle of cucumber & lime water, my keys and cell. Off to test my stamina!

The walk was a blessing. Perfect weather, the sun partially blocked by low clouds keeping the temp perfect. The road was lined with sunflowers. Off in the distance, across the plains, I could see the mountains. We walked by pastures with horses and cows in them. Idyllic. I found myself almost to a standstill several times as I took in the beauty. It took me nearly an hour to get home.

Hubby and I have to go back and dig out the car. It's a little too wet to take the truck into the "marsh" just yet. All will be okay.

Up and at 'em

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

emoticon I rose and am shining! Well, there is a little morning mist. I got up 2:30 with every intention of returning to bed. My shih tzu decided she needed to go out. I had to lift her very solid body down and get her outside. She was out for almost 10 mins. Got her in and a little dog decided it's his turn. Out he goes, the border collie, Jules, racing out with her.

Jules must have sensed coyotes. She got as far as the bedroom window and tested her lungs. She must have sensed a pack. One coyote she'll chase away. A pack she'll just bark and jump. This lasted til nearly 3am. I'm usually up between 3 & 4 anyway, so up I'm going to stay.

It will work out. I'll get alot done this morning including exercise on the gazelle. Then, siesta! Maybe an early nap will help me to get to bed at a reasonable time.
