The Newest Exercise Craze is Sure to be....

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Standing in front of a wind machine. Like the idiotic weathermen do while a hurricane is bearing down on them. Only, you don't get to have the sand splintering away at your face. Maybe as you get good at holding your balance you'll get to get to stand in sand while a wave comes at you. Forget the undertow. You're sure to be safe.

It's got to take strength to try to stand up for even a few minutes at a time as they prepare for their time on the air. It's got to take strength to try to maintain a happy enough attitude under those conditions. It's got to take strength to act the hero.

Entrepreneurs out there - here's your chance!

You know, you may HAVE something there! (I'd rather deal with a wind machine, than with an undertow!) emoticon

Emergency List

Saturday, August 27, 2011

While I'm not in the hurricane's path there are other things to prepare for. For any emergency:

first aid kit emoticon to include meds emoticon
clean, drinkable water emoticon
food supply emoticon
solar, crank or other flashlights that don't require batteries emoticon
matches in waterproof bags emoticon
food for the animals emoticon
water for sanitary purposes emoticon
paper supplies: plates, eating utensils, cups emoticon
and toilet paper emoticon all in waterproof containers

don't forget animal food/meds emoticon

wood for the woodstove, dry emoticon
generator emoticon

Clothes in waterproof bags (need to work on that one)

What am I forgetting?

Wave, that's excellent advice. I always fill my bathtub with water, too. I just do. One of those things.

Oh, I just thought of something else. Bleach for disinfecting things.

Thanks for your comment!

Sharp knife and at least a 25 foot rope... I don't know why, just thought I would stick it in there and duct tape. Can do a million and one things with duct tape~~~

I thought of two more things. Blankets/Coats/Raingear (or is that already 3?) and of course, a working radio to get bulletins.

I don't use my cell phone except for emergencies, but I imagine it would be a good idea to have charged batteries and backups for them.

I still feel like I'm missing something important. emoticon

Eye of the Storm

Friday, August 26, 2011

With all that is happening I feel like I am in a bubble or the eye of the storm. Hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. There has been so much this year. I almost feel guilty enjoying making special treats for my hard-working husband, caring for my animals, and feeling safe. Friends are going through tremendous loses and burdens.

I need to have some prayer time. Maybe that is what I am supposed to be doing during this time. It can only help.

There is a reason for everything that happens... What you need, you will get whether it be a storm in your own life or time to pray for someone else~~~

Today will be better

Monday, August 22, 2011

Yesterday was an accumulation of many uck days in a row. Today will be better. My meltdown is over. That took help from people who care. I thank all of you who stopped by my page and/or sent sparkmails with encouragement.

Today it's going to be a day of much needed rest. I'm not going to expect anything from myself other than to try to learn how to totally relax. There is nothing I can do to take the burden off my hubby - I can't change the army's schedule.

I am going to be praying for all those who have served or are currently serving that have given me the right to relax and recoup.

    Dusty--
You're right.....we can't do anything about the army....they just "are". So relax, do what's good for YOU today, and never stop praying. Take care of you, because if you don't, you can't take care of your soldier.

BIG emoticon being sent to you from way down south. I will also be praying for you, my friend. emoticon. Praying for the peace of God to rest within your soul. emoticon

Hang in there, you're not alone.
Your sister in Christ,
Lori

From one vet to another, it's part of the price we paid. I empathize with you. Weather doesn't help. Take care and try not to stress out (if it's possible).

Hey, you don't need to ask forgiveness. All of us, who have Fibro know where your at!

Just came home from a large picnic. Had a great time, but, was so 'bone-tired' I couldn't even think straight. Had to take a nap.

Blessings,
Janet
