Burning Calories Yard Saling

The post-wide yard sale yesterday was like a flea market. The area was sealed off so calories were getting burned just walking to the event. There were so many vendors there. It was spread out. I made a point to walk up and down the rows and browse. I got there as it was opening and many folks weren't set up yet.

I got some great bargains and walked over 4,000 steps!

    Good for you. I like to go to yard sales, but don't move very well anymore. I have been advised to get rid of "stuff" and not accumulate more. I know that is good advice at my stage of life. So you can do the yard sales for me. emoticon Jane

Diet & exercise Revision

emoticon I have decided to do the 10 day Daniel fast. It isn't very different from what I'm eating now. The exceptions are no meat or cheese. The only oil I see comes from nuts and seeds. No eggs, either. Sounds easy enough. I just have to keep careful track of nutrients.

I'm not sure why it's labeled as a fast. You get plenty to eat.

emoticon my exercise also has small changes. I'll continue walking, of course. I will continue using my shake weight. I will not bring it with me on vacation. My new doorknob exerciser will go with me instead, as well as my resistance band.

The doorknob exerciser is marvelous. I feel muscles waking up I thought I was already using! I'll have strong legs for those California beaches. emoticon

Note: I made a wonderful spinach and strawberry salad today. Enough for at least two days. I hadn't yet read up on the eating plan so my salad has olive oil, feta and cottage cheese in it. That means I will ease into it. I'll have completed it by the time I leave. However, I intend to follow the guidelines even after the 10 days.

    I Love the Daniel fast...... Too easy and fun!! I would make a pot of green chilie stew....YUM......Got good at making tortillas too....flour and water!!
I always think i can lose weight on it....but never do!!! But i feel Amazing after!!

    I can't wait to hear how the new eating plan goes. I've been a vegetarian for years but I do love my eggs & dairy so that might be hard for me to cut out entirely. I'm always surprised when I use my resistance bands at the muscle groups that get worked where I thought I would have built up more strength than I actually have. Good for you for continually trying new things in terms of diet and exercise!

Attitude is back in check

Between splurging on calories over the mother's day weekend, then my scale going wonky showing a 10 pound gain (I know better than that) I was really pushing myself to get the right attitude to move forward. Then came the news of the death of a friend.

Sleep is essential on our journey but with all that I didn't get much last night. However, this morning I lfell asleep on the sofa. I literally couldn't open my eyes. I could hear things going on around me every so often but couldn't do a durn thing about anything, including letting the dogs out. Thankfully hubby let them out before work so all turned out ok there. Anyway, I felt like I was on drugs or something.

Now I'm awake, alert and ready to take on the challenges of the day. Reading the encouraging things my spark friends and family send motivates me. Even folks I don't know have encouraged me. Sometimes I get burned out a little sparking a little too hard, but on days like this I am very grateful to stick with it.

    So very sorry for your loss Sparked Friend. Take care of yourself and do listen to your body when it needs sleep. I'm really bad at taking naps during the day even if I know I didn't get enough sleep at night I'll make myself stay awake till around 10pm. emoticon And don't even get me started on Mother's Day weekend!!Went out for breakfast with my youngest son and his beautiful family,Hubby took me out for dinner,oldest son sent me roses and the most delish,giant chocolate covered strawberries emoticon daughter an online subscription to 90 magazines of my choice and jewelry(nothing to eat from this gift). I forgot to mention youngest son's wife brought a homemade cake to eat after our breakfast emoticon

    I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss - take care of yourself and be sure to get the extra rest your body is telling you it needs. I also ate a lot Mother's Day weekend so it was a little tough to regroup come Monday, but I'm thankful that tomorrow is a new day and I can just keep trying. I hope today is a better day for you!

Readying for the 5% Challenge

Attitude check: could be better. Rough week so far. I'll be ok by Saturday. I'm doing a 3 day cleanse to jumpstart the challenge.
