Prayer first. I tend to just delve into things and have regrets later. Prayer first thing in the morning to bang me in the head if necessary to get my attention because my God knows better than I do. It helps to do this again before entering a store. Then I just get tapped on the shoulder!

Daily Affirmation. Motivate by doing. emoticon Give myself a pat on the bac for a job well done. emoticon

Share. I am blessed with so many things. I've found joy and peace in them. Let others have the same opportunity. Share. There isn't a lack of nice things in this world. This goes hand in hand with appreciation.

Kindness goes a long way. So does a simple smile or gesture.

Absolutely! You're so correct! I thank God everyday for allowing me another day and ask for help to make the right decisions and allow me to get healthier.
Love the motivate by doing! Yes yes yes! Pat on back for job well done - self high fives and all that good stuff for doing good each day!
Sharing, appreciation and kindness go hand and hand. I heard that just a simple smile can make someone's day. I have found a smile on my face makes me feel better and I've noticed that it can surprise people when you smile and say hello. The simple things in life are sometimes the most powerful.
Have a fantastic day! You've reaffirmed my thoughts for the day! Hugs! emoticon emoticon

I agree with your motivations and have to try really hard sometimes to count all my blessings instead of complaining.

Winter is on it's way back

Monday, April 08, 2013

I thought my weather app was crazy when it said 18 degrees for Tuesday. I couldn't quite make out the icon, but looked like snow to me. Hubby said that couldn't be right, and I agreed.

Well, it's 67F today. Beautiful day. There's a "but". Tonight we'll be getting snow and rain mix. By tomorrow we are slated to have blizzard-like conditions with a high of 18. Yes, I mean 18.

Hubby had an errand to do after work which left me with the car today. I crunced all the things I was meant to do tomorrow into today, except women's study, of course. I also exercised more than I realized. I'm pooped!

I already have tomorrows dinner in the crock pot. Red beans & rice, collards. Tomorrow I figure that I am going to relax, do devotionals, write personal letters and crochet. Sparking, too, if the satellite isn't goofed up. I also have the 2nd season of Downton Abbey to watch. I'll be a happy camper!

I'm not sure how long the storm will stick around. I'm just praying everyone will be safe commuting.

Glad you had a warm day but how terrible that you're still getting so snow so late! It sounds like you have a great plan layed out for your 'snow day' though!

Send some of that snow down here! As a Colorado native, we really do miss the snow down here. Yes, I can sympathize with you being ready for spring, as I do remember that feeling as well. Stay safe and warm.

Stay warm and safe. Hope you do get to relax and watch Downton Abbey. It' s real good. Our PBS station here doesn't carry the new year. I watched all the previous years and was hooked.
Wish I could send you some of our warm weather. It's been an unseasonably warm winter here and we've already seen a bumper crop of mosquitoes.

It was 13 below zero this morning, and it has been snowing for two days now. I thought Spring was here too. I asked my husband if it was September. It felt like a good day to sit in front of the fire with a good book, cup of cocoa, and watch the snow fall. Unfortunately, I need to get ready for Girl Scouts. Maybe tomorrow.

Texting and Driving

Saturday, April 06, 2013

Is it worth texting if you lose your life? How about costing someone else their life?

Tragic story. A woman is mourning the loss of her son because someone was so busy with an all important text while driving that she caused a fatal accident. The textor was also killed.

What was so important?

Back before texting was the problem, I actually saw a man reading his paper while he was driving. Some people just don't get it!

Great Walk Tonight

Friday, April 05, 2013

Hubby & I gathered the 4 dogs into the car and went to the local park. The sun was getting ready to set behind the mountains and it was very breezy. Good for us - the dogs could run free because we were the only ones there.

I got a great walk in while he mostly babysat the dogs. I did 2 miles in 32 minutes. Not bad! It started getting dark so we had to leave.

I feel great! Hubby is proud of my progress. It's been awhile since we've walked together. I know he'll be ready for the 5 mile March for Babies on the 27th. After all, he just came back from a month of army training. Me - I'll be ready too! This year I may even time it.

    Great walk!
Do you benchmark speed, distance, or time?
For walks, I usually benchmark time, like 30 minutes walking. For running, I do distance, and monitor my speed, too.
